Who said it flopped?
If so, might be slight over-saturation. Triple Deluxe really isn't that old.
Same shit as the last two main Kirby games, robots are too specific of a gimmick and throws people off, soulless 3D renders instead of charming artwork, general increasing lack of interest in handheld games in the west
Did fine in Japan
I dunno honestly. I mean I enjoyed it, but I wish Kirby games would try to make things a bit tougher.
More powers needed a mech version. I am so let down that Fighter didn't have a robobot.
Robots were a mistake.
Didn't sell so hot in the west, yeah, but damn, it's STILL in the top 20 in Japan for four months straight.
I can't imagine it was even a "flop" in the west considering the English version was finished with the Japanese version, so there probably wasn't any real localization costs outside of publishing and advertising.
It didn't have the heart of the classic Kirby games.
This also
None of the game since RtDL have had that heart
cause all the cool kids (like me) got it on our gateways.
~cya
>cool kids
>gateway
lmao
This basically.
An overprocessed, easily digestible corporate shell of what made the series so unique. Hopefully everyone who made that tank of a game gets fired. Kirby used to have a style and charm to it, unlike this soulless mass-produced product of greedy publishers.
>shitting on kirby
Nigga are you serious, I don't know how well the game did but it is pretty much the best franchise Nintendo has running these days
That sounds more like a description of the New Super Mario Bros series.
in terms of how well im gonna have to guess mario, pokemon, and smash have it beat
Nah, there's still a heart to it, but it's not the same heart as there was before
HAL should make a new big IP
Am in bizarro Sup Forums, or is this Kirby thread hungry?
You happened to come across a rare Kirby thread where the handful of people who are dissatisfied with the direction of modern Kirby all are without being chased off by other Kirby fans
show me the numbers
Actually considering it's only been out for several months the game has sold pretty decently.
It only seems like a flop since you're comparing it to Triple deluxe which has had at least 3 years to rack up it's units sold. Also it isn't like Fire Emblem where there's a incentive to buy it twice or more.
Plus we're nearing the end of 3ds's life, don't expect high sales on anything. Even Pokemon Sun and Moon might suffer sales wise due to people trying to wait on shit like NX.
Buying multiple versions of Fates is disadvantageous as you save more money buying the DLC of the other versions which you are supposed to do by design and you need to do so in order to have access to it all from one game
The only reason to buy multiple digital or physical copies of the games themselves is if you're a collector
Well now you're just over exaggerating valid complaints to an absurd degree. Clearly a false flag.
Woah that drawing is worse than it looked in the thumbnail. Why did I save that? Deleted.
A hand full of contrarian special snowflakes it seems
>anyone who deviates from the norm is purposely trying to be contrarian
Okay.
That's Sup Forums in a nutshell, man.
I really like Robobot, but it does feel like a DLC for Triple Deluxe.
You're Sup Forums in a nutshell, man. Feel free to argue if you disagree with someone, don't just shitpost.
I don't think these people actually are dissatisfied with Robobobot, instead I think they're memeing because of Mr.Hartman. lmao
Game looks like a Triple Deluxe level pack
And Triple Deluxe was in some ways a RTDL level pack
So basically the same reason the last two NSMB games bombed compared to the first two
Sakurai please go and stay go, you ruined Smash Bros
>flop so hard
Source on that? I don't believe that for a second.
isn't it on its' way to a mils
>Feel free to argue if you disagree with someone, don't just shitpost
Most of Sup Forums is not capable of this.
Haltmann, you mean? He was pretty lame with how he was pretty much Susie+ in his boss fight, yes. The bosses in general were one of the reasons the game was underwhelming to me. Many were reused from past games in some way and some are just souped up versions of bosses you already fought in this game, not even just in Meta Knightmare Returns or True Arena, but still during the main game.
That's basically my problems with the game. It wasn't bad but wasn't at all fresh either. You already know what to expect from it. I didn't like that they nostalgia pandered so much either. It's cool and all but that only works so many times and eventually you'll run out of old material to reference. It frankly came off as kind of shameless in this game too.
I think HAL is playing it too safe and the series has stagnated. I'll have all the proof I need if the new mainline Kirby game in 2019 is Planet Robobot 2 with a new ultimate ability gimmick and maybe 3 new regular abilities with more throwbacks.
>People complain about Kirby being "safe"
>Literally every mainline game introduced a new mechanic
I think some of your are trying to backhandedly force the "rehash" meme. It's okay if you don't like thing, but don't be stupid about it.
Honestly I'd be up for a Planet Robobot 2 if not only for fully realizing ALL the mech power abilities and expansion and lore of the mass produce galactic clockworks and wishing powers.
Are you fucking kidding? We just had a great thread today where everyone was talking about how fantastic PR was.
Honestly I thought it was a major step up after TD (which I also enjoyed, but which suffers from a bit of slowness on replaying). PR has great level design, nice extra modes, and a fun challenge in the True Arena. I would honestly put it in the top five of the whole series.

You can introduce new mechanics and features without it feeling just like the last new mechanic and essentially taking its place in a formula. The Robobot was better about it than Hypernova acting basically the same as Super Abilities, but it still had that feeling of just swapping a cog in the same machine.
I don't believe in the "rehash" meme, but I do feel Kirby is getting stale. I think they need to mix up the structure, do something like the Super Star "six games in one" deal or Amazing Mirror's labyrinth approach. It can even be one of those again, though something brand new would be better, but either way it'd be a good mix up from the exact same formula used for all three past games.
I didn't buy it. I had already just played Triple Deluxe, which was a pretty straightforward RtDL sequel, and this looked just like Triple Deluxe, with yet another "super weapon" gimmick like both of the last two Kirby games.
It just didn't have enough to interest me right out of the gate.
I'm only here to tell you how much i enjoyed the bosses in TD
TD's boss theme is so good goddamn.
youtube.com
Shame the True Arena theme kind of sucks, but Planet Robobot's picked up the slack big time.
...
>2016
>STILL no Kirby game with better bosses than Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, and Kirby's Dream Land 3
Only Amazing Mirror ever came close, and it's still far below the holy trinity.
Be more specific about "amazing" things user. I'm not saying it's a buzzwords, but it's just kinda vague
If you mean memorable the returns trilogy has had pretty memorable fights. Sectonia was and still is pretty sweet, even if she's by no means a hard boss
A
You need money first to buy a vowel.
Dumbass.
Fuck you i ain't paying to get money
>good presentation
>unique attack patterns
>sometimes integrate the setting into the battle in some way
>well designed characters
>play a part in the story
>provide some challenge
>don't camp in the background and waste your time (except fatty whale)
>don't have a ton of forms that make you wait while transitioning
>don't roar or hiss at you before and after every fight
fucking Clanky Woods is more fun and interesting than any boss in Adventure and DL3
Clanky Woods was worse than regular Whispy Woods from the first game. Certainly flashier.
Gotta spend money to make money.
That tank looks kinda cool
It's based on Trax, the titular protagonist of a HAL Game Boy Game from 1991. The scrapped KDL2 tank later got into Kirby Super Star as the enemy called Moto Shotzo.
It doesn't really look like Trax at all though.
It's clearly based on Trax, I didn't say it IS Trax.
i wasnt interested so it must have flopped
because robots. west hates robots
All the forced Hypernova shit in Triple Deluxe really soured my opinion of the game even though the rest is pretty good so I wasn't feeling super hyped about Robobot and haven't felt like squeezing it in with Monster Hunter taking up most of my 3DS time already
I just want another kirby like Amazing Mirror
Tell me about it.
It's a kid's game.
Nah Japan hates robots, all they want are piloted mecha. It's why stuff like Transformers was always more popular in the west, Japan doesn't like it when the robots are their own characters and don't have some cliche/stereotype human pilot behind the controls.
>I just want another kirby like Amazing Mirror
Good luck, it was a really cool and great game that didn't take with a lot of people because apparently Metroidvanias are confusing.
I just don't like the game engine. The way kirby moves and feels isn't satisfying.
It wasn't really a Metroidvania, but I liked its open world kind of style.
