I still don't really get how it become so popular but it was comfy while it lasted
Holy fuck, has it already been a year since I undertale shitposted because I liked the game and the fanart? barring the shitty yaoi and tumblr humanization arts
Charming music and graphics, reasonably engaging story with just enough of an edge to it, amusing Warioware gameplay and uses the uniqueness of games as a medium to do things that couldn't be done in books or film.
It wasn't gods gift to gaming as the massive hype may have suggested. But it was a cute, clever and fun little gem.
I loved it then and I love it now. The characters were for the most part well developed and had reasons for acting the way they did, the music was strong and make excellent use of a leifmotif, and the gameplay was a nice combination of SMT negotiation, bullet hell, and general RPG combat. I liked it.
Although I'm kind of tired of it since it was everywhere for so long. Kinda get sick of seeing the same thing all the time.
Honestly still one of my top 10 favorite games. Totally serious.
It just had a charming low-fi aesthetic combined with catchy music and comfy gameplay. I love all the little touches in the game that play with the 4th wall. Really gives it a feel unique to games in the same way MGS did back in the day. (another one of my favorite games, how about that?)
Accidentally killing Toriel which broke my heart and reseting the game to save her combined with having Flowey taunt me telling me he knows exactly what I did and that I'm a terrible person hit me harder than 99% of shit that happens in games ever have.
It was pretty over hyped but as someone who knew literally nothing going in I was met with one pleasant surprise after another. I honestly can't think of anything about the game I actually hate or that bugs me.
...
It was fun and gave off nostalgia comfy feely things when I first played it.
Wish the awful fandom never happened to ruin it, though.
Was there any updates after the initial release? I remember hearing rumors of hard mode, and some other endings.
>toriel makes you cake
>cake requires milk
>there's only one female mammal in the ruins
really makes you think
