I like the way this event was handled, I'm only afraid that the terrible and awful bitching about it means we will never see potentially rare cosmetics like this again.

I can handle with not getting something I want, and I like the feeling of seeing someone with a very uncommon skin (by this point, all the Legendaries are common as muck, this limited time non-guarenteed way is the only way to have anything be rare), it gives the game a liveliness to it.

The fact that people are so fucking mad over them not being guaranteed to get these things is really indicative of how selfish and short-sighted the modern gamer is.

Overwatch isn't an F2P game here exclusive loot that's locked behind RNG boxes is something that should be practiced. TF2 at least went free 2 play later and even before then the game was only 20 bucks, sold for much cheaper all the time, and bundled with the orange box. Back in my time all the skins were free with the base game and new servers, skins and mods were free patches and/or community made.

Activision Blizzard is a public company that needs to generate a return for its investors and it does that by keeping people playing the game and trying to get them to spend money. Of course they're going to allow for duplicates because it's the best compromise between keeping people playing the game and enticing people to buy loot boxes. There would be even less reason for people to buy those loot boxes if you never got duplicates, because you'd know no matter what that eventually you'd get everything there is for free. You still technically can, it's just a lot less obvious how long you'd have to play before you get everything

I got Overwatch from a friend and can't bring myself to enjoy it. It just feels so unoriginal. It reminds me of the generic shooter you would see television shows use when they want to have a character playing video games. I really should just uninstall it, but I feel like I'm kind of obligated to since someone gifted it to me.

The terrible weekly events they've had like Hanzo vs Genji have sucked too. The Summer event has been a mess because they added a completely broken and half-assed game mode and then they changed their business model with the lootboxes and currency. They're giving me little reason to keep playing now.

I don't get why nobody else has a problem that you can get duplicates of the "rare and unique" special event legendaries and epics.

Personally if I don't like a game I don't play it, seems a waste of time to force yourself to do something you don't enjoy when you're not getting paid for it

I think limited time skins are god tier since the in game skins you can buy with credits are literally worthless. The only reason I use skins is because of the novelty which is 0 when their is no value behind them to back it up. Being able to play with my limited time zarya skin with a gold gun is the greatest feeling in the world once the event is over and all the fags that don't have it are going to be jelly as fuck over my super saiyan golden zarya while they use their legendary zarya they basically got for free.

It's going to suck to miss out on some skins sometimes but it's going to make the ones you get so much better. Luckily I rolled over at the end of the event and got pretty much all the skins I wanted.

Literally play the game and it should never be a problem.
