I don't care if actors do the voices, or lend their likeness to a video game. Use that money and reinvest in new features, new gameplay and new mechanics.

There is no reason at all to pay actors to feature in video games when their likeness is not needed to convey emotion, tone or themes as all these can be done through digital editing, it is not like a movie in which many of the highest paid actors are accomplished actors or have desirable skills that can be difficult to replicate through CGI and animation.

Snake Eater was arguably the best and most cinematic of the games of the series, the biggest actor was Snake's voice and even then not that much.

There was no reason to switch him out for Sutherland except to try and make bank on the back of his name. It is not needed, Reedus is a hot ticket item right now thanks to the Walking Dead, before that nobody would of thought twice about him in Boondock Saints or anything else he has done.

No he's not, but that is not the point. Why would you need an actor to do so? He does not move any differently than the rest of us. As said before, for certain technical actions that need fluidty of movements like weapon knowledge gymnastics it is fine, but not for the famous face.

Reread what I have said and you will understand there is nothing wrong with motion capture, it is a good technique, what I question and condemn is the use of a famous face, it adds nothing to the game beyond another way to generate hype. There are plenty of actors who can do a better job for a fraction of the price but they don't use them because they can not monetize their appearance like they can with Reedus.

Because they are attractive and popular. Acting ability does not always equate to financial success.

Actors are not revered in our society but envied, they have the job we all want and live the lives we all wish we had. That is why we follow them so closely. Everything they do in film can be replicated in video games for a fraction of the cost they demand.

Film needs actors because they are in front of the camera themselves, or the stage without a barrier or a very limited one in the case of film. There is only so much you can do to cover or improve bad acting. In video games you can do everything you want and more.
