Have you played the greatest rpg of all time user?
Have you played the greatest rpg of all time user?
Why yes, I have played Fallout 4.
Did you get the season pass?
Yes
I also recently discovered that Viconia's portrait was seemingly modeled after the face of a porn model
more reasons that makes her best girl
Yeah. More than once.
>werewolf
Why restrict yourself? Even Wizard slayer isn't that shit.
I played the fuck out of it but never really felt like I got 'good'. I could never really tell what made a good caster, just that I needed stoneskin and fireballs. Any 'tricky' fight and I'd just savescum through it.
Maybe if I start with Bg1 I could put more effort into 'getting good'.
Playing through it again right now, with wincest mod this time.
Pacing is my main gripe with BG2, giving you ability to explore virtually all map before advancing past initial few chapters then getting railroaded into oblivion is kinda weird.
>just that I needed stoneskin and fireballs
Skull Trap is the superior version of Fireball. Play with the Ascension mod for a real challenge.
BG1 gives you some extra exp which will help but otherwise it's useless.
>Pacing is my main gripe with BG2
That shits me too. It acts like you need to rush to Imoen, but most of the content is in Chapters 2 and 3.
None of that really matters if you aren't playing with the ascension mod though.
Can you install Ascension on top of EE?
>None of that really matters if you aren't playing with the ascension mod though.
By which I mean if you play with AM then you'll need to powergame like a pro.
>Fireball
>Stoneskin
>good caster
Its not the greatest RPG. Its a pretty good one.
I enjoyed Fallout 1 more.
Not too sure. Probably. I've never played EE but the modding community has moved there so it's likely.
Ascension is the hardest RPG you can play. Don't even consider it if you're not savvy to what works in BG.
Good taste user. Drow girl best girl.
>liking bitchy, immensely annoying whore with constant mood shifts
Thanks. Honestly, that last boss fight is a complete nightmare.
nice crop
Better than the widower bitch or the whiny cunt.
That isn't LOD.
Well that's why you just go with a superior option and install Imoen Romance.
>that's why you just go with a superior option and install Imoen Romance
I like you a lot.
Best girl in the game.
>the alternative to three fucking elves is incest
Oh well, better than nothing.
Damn straight it's better.
Yes, but I assure you that Neverwinter Nights was far superior to Baldur's Gate. Also liked Dragon Age: Origins and Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines more, out of the more 'modern' choices.
>I assure you
Charisma roll 4
Failed.
Nope. NK is crap.
I always kill Imoen as soon as she joins the party.
I just can't stand her fucking "Heyya! It's me, Imoen!"
Which one?
Your loss faggot.
I have and I want to replay it with some of the good mods for BG2 EE edition, mainly the one that improves sorcerer and dragon disciple but for some shitty reason that mod makes me unable to choose spells at all and leaves me with no spells at the start of the game.
Search 'Viconia Model'.
You'll find it instantly.
LIL ALUR! FOR SHAR!
Just use BGT like every other sane person.
...
>SoA top tier
I like it.
it's quite outdated as i don't see underrail anywhere and that's the best that happened to the entire genre in last 10 years
Old nerds: the thread
It's in high tier
>ultima
I'm lazy as fuck, is there some way I can play the good ones easily on a modern computer? preferably without much effort
or should I not bother
...
...
Duh, how HASN'T played Skyrim??
xdd xP
Exult
There's a Dungeon Siege mod for Ultima 5 if you just care about story.
I love BG2, I LOVE IT. But I only got close to finishing it once.
Its great, its interesting, has TONS of fucking content but I lose interest about 50 hours in. Usually around the time I get to the quest with the fucking beholders.
But whenever I start again its fresh and fucking fascinating like the first time. Pinnacle of high fantasy old-school RPG's
Storm of Zehir is in low tier and rightly so but goddamn the theme music is the best.
Got a few hours in but stopped because the combat was fucking shit and there was a lot of it despite what people say.
Why Inquisitor in mid tier and not low or shit? Was it fixed after initial release? I remember it being an unbalanced mess.
obviously i have played all the baldur's gates except siege of dragonspear. haven't bothered with it yet since all EE's were buggy as hell at release and long after release as well.
still, not sure if bg is the best though, arcanum and ps:t were amazing as well
I unironically think all NWN expansions deserve to be at least mid tier. Also Paul Romero is a god and his music sets the tone for M&M6 perfectly.
>neverwinter nights even in the same sentence
yeah no, neverwinter nights was a hack'n'slash at best
>inb4 hurr durr, not the main game
Nigger just spam all kind of protections before every fight and then cast as many bee swarm spells as you can to disrupt enemy mages and keep healing your party. You really don't even need mages on your team, priests/druids are enough.
serious question about that list. is return to krondor and betrayal at antara really that bad?
i vaguely remember playing antara way back when but can't really remember anything except it having newer graphics compared to betrayal at krondor
Expedition Vikings is my most anticipated RPG of next year.
>expeditions conquistador
youtube.com
adding to this, is vampires redemption any good?
mine is prolly torment: tides of numenera or tyranny. not sure when they are going to be released though
God I loved the busted bugged ranger/cleric dual class.
fuck you
I have played BG2 so many times and even with the worst classes
>tfw Thief / Cleric Dual Class with only Nalia
What else is there to play as?
pls shill it on Sup Forums when released so I remember
>turn based tactics thing
>rpg
>historical setting, not fantasy garbage
I want it
Now I have to dl it again
install some good mods like Saerileth for new experience
Get out
fun fact: i usually do the cult of the beholder as one of the first things i do in chapter 2.
well it gives you Keldorn so it's understandable why people do it early
>mfw that beholder ray reflect shield
People like to shit on it because it has some clunky mechanics and isn't open ended like Bloodlines, but I fucking love it. The whole opening story to it is incredibly atmospheric and outright fucking terrified me as a kid. It has quite a few items to collect, which reminded me of Diablo II, a game I also loved the shit out of at the time, and the whole blood magic system just spiked my curiosity on and on when I played. There were quite a few ways to toy with it. Overall with all those things combined Masquerade is one of the best RPGs I ever played, but people might tell you otherwise. To me personally though, it was one of the greatest pieces of software ever.
>SS2 and Deus Ex
>on an RPG list
Holy fuck, stop it. They're clunky aRPG hybrids with hardly any actual RP involved. Like, they're great games but only mediocre RPGs at best.
>Cult of the beholder
>First time playing BG2
>Constantly die to the beholders
>Use cheesing tactics
>Spam Chaos and Fireball
I've only made it to teh first city where that crazy bitch is murdering ppl and killed some trolls in a castle....
I love this game and always go back, but never make it past an hour of gameplay without... getting bored? :(
I wan't to give it yet another shot, but it never feels fun... should i power through a little further? Maybe try a class that isn't half assed and a guessing game? idk...
i really really REALLY wan't to love it, the atmosphere is so cool.
Yeah the beholders in the underdark are pretty bullshit. I just went in the back, killed the big one and took his blood instead of going through the whole dungeon.
>Usually around the time I get to the quest with the fucking beholders.
The drow city quest?
Get the shield of Balduran from the Adventurer's Mart, you'll be laughing.
sounds pretty good, apart from the diablo 2 thing, since i pretty much hated that game
It's got a cool twist like half way through and while people are jerking off over bloodlines 2, a redemption 2 with custom module support, a better ruleset implementation, and better story would be god tier.
define RP
if you think it means 'muh stats' then I hate you
...
this is my next party for BG1
>elven warrior with dual swords
>dwarf warrior focused in crossbow and axes
>mage?
>uuh thief I guess
>cleric, someone gotta heal and buff
>paladin or warrior/druid tank
desu I'm pretty lost, any tips?
I know what you mean. Old RPGs tend to be very slowly paced in the beginning and get good in halfway.
My advice is just keep playing because it keeps getting better. The first quests in Chapter 2 are insanely hard. Once your mages start getting some good spells, the time slips by and you are already in Chapter 4 in no time.
put haste into every level 3 spell slot you have available, this makes traveling much faster and less tedious
It might be hard for you, user. I'm not very good at playing RPGs anymore either. All I look for in them whenever I play is powergaming as efficiently as possible. It really helped to have that childlike curiosity back in the day.
I really enjoyed starting with the first one. It really gives you a sense of scale, power wise, for the rest of the series, especially starting as a mage. It's also a more relaxing game with way more exploring and adventuring.
If you can make it through even half of the first game, then getting into the second one should be easy.
>custom party
you might as well play on easy
>he never lived to see what Bioware would become
if you feel like trying it again, berserker is the best class without requiring loads of tedious faggotry like a spellcaster. just half orc that shit with maxed strength and con, and bring some spell faggot along with you to cast haste or whatever
No, of course not. That's actually the most RPG part about them. As far as holistically reacting to various roles and providing varied opportunities for character expression goes, they're not very good at that.
as a mage, get xan. that dude is fun
Neverwinter Nights fucking sucks
Just be prepared for a really dark, suffocating atmosphere throughout most of the game. Really made me anxious. Fuck it felt good to finally get into the safe haven for the first time.
>it's a LARPerfag thinks RPGs are about "muh roleplaying" episode
>elven warrior with dual swords
Why Elf if a warrior? Dual swords are shit late game desu.
>dwarf warrior focused in crossbow and axes
So Korgan then?
>mage?
YES. Mages are incredibly good later on.
>uuh thief I guess
Uhh, sure.
>cleric, someone gotta heal and buff
If you feel like it. They outclass Druids if you know how to Turn Undead.
>paladin or warrior/druid tank
Inquisitor or Undead Hunter is best imho. Undead Hunter DESTROYS SoA.
My only main tip is don't pick Wizard Slayer. AS long as you don'tr make that mistake, BG1 and SoA are easy enough. ToB with the Ascension mod requires powergaming, but until then you'll be peachy.
good
>not using Skull Trap
Get out.
I think letting you choose how you do stuff is rpg as fuck. it doesn't have to be some shitty class system or 'do you choose the good guy conversation option, or do you randomly kill everyone xd so evil'
I'll Pnova your ass down to 1hp in one hit and let my dream helmet finish you off (I know what you're thinking, why not use flame golem, but fuck you, flame golem can die and clay golem is superior)
>BG2
>slow paced
The game starts you off in a dungeon and as son as you leave you're in a large city filled with all sorts of quests and dungeons.
ok, sounds good. will prolly try it after i've finished with my first playthrough of vmtb
didn't elves get bonus to longbow and longsword? not sure but that might be his/her reason.
When the BG games came out, I always played as a Ranger because of Drizzt, and dual wielding added in BG2 was the greatest thing ever to me.
Super embarrassing desu, went back and read some of the new Drizzt books a couple years ago and they are so bad.
Yeah I played SMT 2
>Shadow over Riva
I thought I was the only one who played it
