Redownloading now, what sort of character shall I play as? And what are some good or essential mods I can use to make this playthrough distinct?
After several playthroughs as a suited Speech Morally Neutral gambler type, I feel like its time for something different
I have downloaded it recently as well, started to mod it slighty, but got stuck on my character.
But, I have a tradition to always play a cannibal in elder scrolls game, and I haven't really done it in NW. So my plan is to make a female Hannibal style character. High cha, int and sneak, melee (bladed one handed weapons only) and speech.
The game has 0 replayibility because of the empty Nevada desert with no interesting places. I haven't found any good mods outside Project Nevada. The game looks like shit even with enb, and plays like shit. You will get bored in 30 minutes. Go play something else.

I dont have my old save anymore, and I dont have time to replay through the main story.
I though about just levelling through the console, but then I'd still be missing tons of items, weapons, armour, etc.

I liked playing a kinda stealthy ranger, picking of people with my rifle. For me it added alot more to the game, like being a fucking hitman.

do something youve never done before. i recently rolled a character has a 5 intelligence, pure melee, light armor, bad karma, legion sympathizer. its almost the exact opposite of what i normally play as in games like this but it was way more fun than doing the usual.

i dont think better is the right word. i liked exploring the DC ruins more than the area around the strip. atmospheric i disagree with just because nothing really changes in 3, IMO better atmosphere is having borders and territory change and the world react to whats going on, but focusing on the changes, not the player and what they did to change it.
Max endurance and go lonesome road straight outta goodsprings. You can nuke everything for the unique items, and be 100% forgiven in the strip. Plus you'll be levelled and gear'd enough that you wont have to do the "come fly with me" cancer
Dead Money is actually far easier at low level than higher. I started it at level 2 and even on Very Hard difficulty I was killing ghost people in a few hits. You might not be able to access that one dispenser code in the police station or merge Dog and God though since those have high skill requirements
Recently in new vegas I've enjoyed characters who start off in one faction, and slowly learn to think differently
But for some reason, I just find the legion so damn fascinating. How they're rather easily dealing with the NCR when they should obviously loose. They seem to have far better agents, built purely out of moronic tribesmen. They must have one hell of a training system. The entire map wants you dead so you have to be smart/wary, and the Ranger hitsquads are a far bigger bitch to fight than the legion assassins (albeit later in the game)

Advance enough in the main story and you'll be pointed to them. Alternatively there are three places where you can find some corpses which gives you a map marker to go to. Also, I think Veronica eventually gets you to head there if you manage to advance her personal quest far enough.
They are secretive and wont be handed to you on a plate, gotta find them
