I remember posting on the Next Gen Gaming board on GameFAQs about a year before the PS3/XBOX came out.

It was really similar to Sup Forums those days, in that most threads where console wars and shit posts with the occasional good meme. Once the ps3 came out though I pretty much only visited Sup Forums so not sure how shitty that board got.

Why do we even come here anymore?

Of course I do. I cut my teeth on the Gamefaqs forums. Sup Forums is NOTHING compared to what Next Gen Gaming was back in the PS2/GCN/Xbox era.

I don't know why you would hate him for any reason at all. Carmack never came off as the kind of person who put video games first. He's just super passionate about programming and the complex mathematics involved. Not at all surprising that he's riding that Oculus dick because as a man of science first the tech interests him more than the actual potential it presents in video gaming.

board hunting was my favourite thing about gfaqs. really unique experience that's never been replicated before by any other site, as far as i know.
the basic idea for anyone who doesn't know is that the boards for tens of thousands of really old games did not have topicality enforced, so you could make threads about whatever you wanted. people would write or post whatever weird stuff they could think of, and others could find it by just punching in different numbers into the URL to find boards for different games.
