Zero Mission

yeah, ocarina of time 3ds was a net gain
pretty much the only valid complaint is the new rainbow bridge looking really stupid

Only if the original is so shit and easy that Nintendo's kiddiefication process actually makes it harder.

>the ground has the very unusual polka dot pattern[...] this alone helps sell you on the idea that this is a fantastical land
that was the most retarded shit I've read this week

When they remake games it's not like they give it back to the original studio that made the same to make it again. More often than not they give it to one of their smaller teams as project for them. They don't exactly have a big budget or any special art design people.

The answer is no, for nintendo at least. Naughty Dog for example, they remake their games with big budget and mostly the same team as the original made.

I wouldn't call the alt Rainbow Resort bland, but it's like they weren't even trying to make it look like the original.

I can't believe someone put this much effort into making a forgettable bait image.

This image will always be shit without the butter building for comparison. They removed the awesome 3D effect of the tower rotating for a gauntlet of random enemies and then a door that spawns out of nowhere.

This is the most autistic image I've seen this week

It's an old picture used by a shitposter in Kirby threads, his name was modshroom.

Nightmare in Dreamland was the game that made Sakurai quit HAL, right?

HeartGold/SoulSilver

Air Ride was his last game with HAL IIRC.

Mario 3 on the GBA
Mario 2 on the GBA
Mario The lost L- basically any Mario remake for the GBA

Also an honorable mention to FireRed and LeafGreen, because the Pokemon Company technically isn't owned by Nintendo.

No, that was Air Ride

Okay, but what about Super Star Ultra?

rip /v4c/

They also needed to crank up the brightness and saturation more than they wanted to, so it didn't ghost like hell in 3D.

Actually his best friend who he considered Kirby's godfather died, so Sakurai left the company in grief.

Super Mario 64 DS

>The outlines of Kirby, the Tree, and the tiles all have different colors and thickness
This one is good though, it improves visual clarity and the conveying of information by making a clear distinction between Kirby, important elements (the apples that damage you), and the rest of the scene.

NiDL is the only remake from them worse than the original.

+Adds 30 new stars and a few new areas. They're cool but mostly below average.
+Models and animations are generally much higher quality.
+Texture mapping is cleaner

=Adds new playable characters to questionable effect.
=Adds a bunch of shallow minigames almost no one cares about.

-Yoshi is garbage.
-Only Mario can wall jump for some reason.
-Wario is too slow and shitty to ever be worth playing except when required.
-Luigi backflips once or twice and the game gets spanked and starts crying.
-Cap power-ups locked to certain characters, forcing wandering through the castle to switch to the needed character, or wandering through the level to find a goomba wearing the character's hat and then avoiding getting hit, both of which suck.
-Redesigned character, enemies, locations, and items standardize things to bring it in line with the rest of the series.
-Textures and lighting are generally much lower quality (often nonexistent when it comes to lighting).
-Controls are much worse, and the best part of the original game, the excellent movement mechanics, feels sort of shit as a result.
-Sound quality is worse.
-A few sound clips removed/missing.
-Resolution is lower.
-No more playing with Mario's face on the title screen, instead you can make boring doodles and do nothing of interest with them.
-Even though the models and animations are generally better, Mario doesn't give the peace/victory sign after getting a Star, just raises his fist stupidly.

The All Stars version of Lost Levels is pretty shit. People only like it because it's the only version that made it out of Japan.

Donkey Kong for the Gameboy.

Yes, from the same series as you are pic, even.

fuck no
see the taken down pokemon and metroid games

Firered and Leafgreen.

I love it when pretentious fags talk about art style

2500% more content than the original

I don't know about that dude, I still 100% it but Majora's Mask 3D wasn't as good as the original in my opinion. Also SM64DS is up for debate, it adds a lot but also loses a lot of the physics & control from the original.

voice acting

>-Redesigned character, enemies, locations, and items standardize things to bring it in line with the rest of the series.
I don't see how this is necessarily a negative.

>-No more playing with Mario's face on the title screen, instead you can make boring doodles and do nothing of interest with them.
If you're seriously counting this you might as well count the minigames as a positive. Both are pretty much equally irrelevant.

You're right about the rest though.

This fucking game changed my life.
I got it out of nowhere and didn't expect anything from it.

This game's huge.

LUCKY

Arent Kirby games made by hal?
Also, pic related

>The All Stars version of Lost Levels is pretty shit.
Every version of Lost Levels is shit, though.

Metroid 1 was harder than Zero Mission.

Metroid 1 is not the better game.

>I don't see how this is necessarily a negative.
It sacrifices its unique atmosphere and added variety between levels for homogeny. Makes it seem more like just another product getting a modernization, the designs of the original are rough, its made like they didn't fully understand the hardware, the designs like Scuttlebug and Dorrie are weird, but I get the impression they were made with passion and true creativity. It's something I care about, but it's pretty minor, most people don't care.

>If you're seriously counting this you might as well count the minigames as a positive. Both are pretty much equally irrelevant.
Yeah, fair enough.

No. The reason behind this is that Nintendo achieves perfection the first time around. You cannot improve upon perfection, anything you add or remove detracts from the game's quality.

If you run screenshots through a photoshop color fix filter the game has a yellow tint that becomes easily apparent

That game is going to really shine when Citra gets to the point of HD emulation + ReShade

ONE HUNDRED LEVELS.

OF PAIN.

Censored for racism, looks worse, sounds worse, new bosses are just DDD in a cage, the worst boss again, fast metaknight and fast marx. Compared to TD and Rob it's a disgrace.

>caring this much about the easiest, most braindead game in existence

Jesus wept.

>People
>liking Lost Levels

Even Mario fans prefer Doki Doki since it wasn't rom-hack tier.

>Censored for racism
elaborate

Surely you jest. The 3DS Zelda were some of the worst remakes I've ever played. They added NOTHING while fucking up the lighting so bad.

They made the framerate and draw distance not shit.

nope

>DDD

Can Donkey Kong '94 even be called a remake? It's like a totally new game, and it's also the best 2D Mario game.
youtube.com/watch?v=tNsiX0gKMEU

>Draw distance
>In a game with no open areas except Empty Field and Lake Empty

You know what game they should remake and increase the draw distance? Silent Hill. That would make it better right

Not him but the original wham back rock was too much of a black face and they changed it

>literally posting kotakufrog

here you go, your words are now immortalized in this informative image

>the worst boss again

Don't be stupid, the worst boss is the RPG fight, which is cool the first time and none of the other, what, five times you have to do it?

pic related in your post retard

>Metroid 1 is not the better game.
That is where you are wrong.

Yeah. The game's color grading is fucked like a GBA game

Actual screenshot, note the nuclear colors and the water has notes of piss

Run it through a quick colour fix filter and the reds are more noticeable, the nuclear radiation is gone

I think you are the retard, friend

Why would they remove such fun little details? Christ.

Gen 4 remake of Gold and Silver was legit

I kind of prefer the original's graphics, but the new games, bosses and music are still great.

I don't know how to feel. Thanks, I guess? Though the animation job could have been better.

Wow, that actually does look a lot better.

why yes you are.
you have to a complete retard to think the right isn't an improvement to the left.

go shitpost else where

The worst part is it works on literally every scene in the game

Do you have a fixed screenshot of the final Ganon battle? That fight's atmosphere got butchered in the 3DS version and I wonder if this color fix would make it better.

Better framerate, Water Temple is better, Iron Boots and Hover Boots are regular items.

Automatically makes OoT3D the best version of OoT.

Silent Hill has an actual mist concept though, and low draw distance adds to the horror.

But the top of the water isn't that clear , why would link be swimming in crystal water, in a dungeon no less

Literally just "Autocolor" on my fucking phone for this one, fixes the white balance

>But the top of the water isn't that clear
It is.
And it's still obviously effecting the lighting.

Doesn't OoT 3DS have a harder version of Master Quest? Having never played MQ I'm gonna try OoT 3DS soon because of that.

The funny thing is that Nebulus could do the same, and that was on Game Boy. How much did that cartridge hold compared to NiD?

No, it's just master quest

Or Castelian, which is the more well known name.

Have fun beating the game on normal first in order to unlock it.

What would you want out of a Kirby 64 remake for NX? All I'd need is the unused ideas and stuff to be put in the game, a few more minigames, and tweaked gameplay so Kirby handles more fluidly.

Why the fuck is there such a piss filter?

it adds lots of new content but completely ruins the controls, which is the gameplay, which means it ruins the game

so this is wrong?

>. This version of the Master Quest has two significant changes. The entire game has been mirrored, similarly to Twilight Princess for the Wii, making Link right-handed as well as flipping the entire overworld map and the dungeons.[2] In addition to the game being mirrored, all of the enemies and bosses will cause twice as much damage to Link, which also applies to the Master Quest's own Boss Challenge version.[3]

I'm gonna rent a copy so If I'm lucky i won't have to. Same way I did Hero Quest at the start for ALBW.

More power combos

Alright, tell me what's wrong with the Snes version of SMB games?

This Kirby image is so actually stupid. Did whoever made this realize that the reason they changed the way Dreamland looked is because that's how they intended it to be? They WANTED it to look like it was in space. Otherwise they wouldn't have done so. It's the same exact background in the stage in the smash bros series as well because that's clearly how they want it to look. Not however your head canon is. Everything else in that post is literally just nitpicking.

that wasn't hard

Dude, sorry to boist yo' bubble family, but that's not really a remake. It's just a re-release. They didn't change anything about the games besides the controls.

It would be the first Shimomura Kirby game to be remade which would be interesting in itself. I wonder if Kumazaki would direct it since he seems to take after Sakurai's games more.

I'd hope not, no disrespect intended. A designer who worked on the game under Shimomura should direct.

>They
Who's "they"? Most of the designers who made the original were gone at that point.

the very next kirby one they did?

Is Super Mario All-Stars considered a remake?

>Most of the designers who made the original were gone at that point

I'm pretty sure Iwata, Miyamoto and some other dude had Kirby as their first game idea or some shit. We all know they were still there when the game came out, so I feel like if they didn't like something, they'd have it changed.

>draw distance not shit.

The fuck are you talking about? The original game already had a perfect draw distance.

Apparently the brick hit physics on the SNES version of Mario 1 are slightly different. This makes it so hitting bricks and coin blocks brings you straight down instead of in whichever direction your momentum would lead you.

>1994

I didn't realize Leslie Jones had been acting that long.

yes, and its terrible. they chancged that cool nighttime ice cave into some generic cave

they also fucked up the physics in MArio 1 and 1JPN

in the original game and every port and remake besides this one, when Mario hits a block, he bounces back quickly with no loss of momentum. Not so here! In this shitty game, Mario is sucked up for a split-second, and goes straight up, and goes right back down, straight down; this tiny physics change, literally ruins the entire flow and balance of the game, making it a completely lesser and different experience. Instead of a seamless flow of gaming action, you constantly stop, and start, and

In all honesty, similar to the NiD comparison, tones are more earthy, some of the stranger backgrounds and foreground tiles are more mundane. Still looks good, but some parts of the orignal Super Star look uniquely bizarre.
