give me your honest thoughts
I'm a fan of the franchise, and haven't bought this yet
give me your honest thoughts
I'm a fan of the franchise, and haven't bought this yet
Everything but the gameplay is shit, the gameplay itself is damn great
It's a good game desu, there are some legitimate criticisms but 99% of the people complaining about it are casual fans who literally don't matter to the scene
bretty good
net play is full of cheaters
yet i see the exact opposite, id like to see how well the game performs after its big Capcom pro tour stuff.
Seems like the only reason people play this is for the money.
I'm having fun.
Urien looks fun from what I played in the story mode and vids I've seen. I hope he comes out soon.
Depth of a puddle gameplay is shit.
Its good but mainly because I'm a huge fan of SF. At its core the game is great, but isn't in a particularly good package. Should have been 40 bucks, if that.
I've played every version of every street fighter game for at least 100 hours (except the first 2 versions of sf3 an sfEX) and I can safely say that this is the worst one I've ever played
Gameplay is amazing and will only be expanded upon via free updates
DLC characters have been pretty strong on the power curve
SFV doesn't deserve the reviewbombing hate it gets.
You must be retarded.
>DLC characters have been pretty strong on the power curve
What?? everyone says DLC characters are all shit and everyone still sticks to the same old characters.
you're kidding yourself if you think ST, IV vanilla and Alpha 3 are better than V.
It's ok, a very easy way to get into fighting games. I wish the game had some more advanced mechanics though. I get that it would go against what the goal of the game is, but for me personally it feels somewhat bland.
I like it in small bursts.
they've tried to compensate by making 'technical' characters like Ibuki, Alex and Juri but its backfired
How?
alpha 3 is definitely debatable but yeah 5 is for sure worse than 4 and st
I think its a great, albeit incomplete fighting game
Enjoying it far more than I ever enjoyed IV
Doesn't have the sense of style Alpha and III had
its alright. i find myself going back to iv though
There's no point in utilizing their more complicated movesets when Ryu does more damage for less
A meh game built on a really good frame, it's incredibly rushdown-centric compared to SF4. The game itself really suffered on account of CAPCPOM rushing its release for the CPT. With more work on it, it could become a really great SF title.
too easy to get big damage with simple characters.
aside from that, enjoying it.
Great game and at this point it has a reasonable amount of content for its first 6 months. No arcade mode is still gay though.
almost every character plays the same so unless you're mika chun or nash your character has to have
-an invincible reversal
-a strong anti air normal, preferably a jab
-like 400 damage low execution combo from easily confirnable normals
or they either aren't good or aren't worth the effort
The lack of arcade mode is just puzzling, I'd rather have had that than Story to be honest.
I really dislike what the CPT did to this game. It legitimately could've had a great launch and been a good way to rejuvenate the fighting game scene, but instead it got rushed out the door for a tournament like that.
Demand both, there is NO reason to settle for one.
its upsetting, i mean ultra was still pretty recent why not just push that for one more year
>it's a "people think arcade mode is important" episode
>rejuvenate the fighting game scene
It was not doing bad in the first place. It's only gotten bigger since the release of SF4 and other games have come out since then.
>it's a "i'm too hardcore to need content" episode
Then why is everyone saying that Vega is supposed to be good? All he has is the damage.
What am I doing wrong?
>I'm a fan of the franchise
>haven't bought this yet
if you're going to make a bait thread try a little harder
A. You just called Alex's moveset complicated, that in itself is hilarious
Secondly, that's an issue that can be easily negated in the future. All they need to do is nerf Ryu's V-Trigger CA and heavy shoryuken and a big chunk of his damage is gone. As it stands though, you can simply ignore damage output and play whoever you think is the most fun. It's not as poorly balanced as you've made it out to be.
Love the game, I'd play it more if I had a character I enjoyed.
I like frame trap characters with good buttons. Cody, Dudley, etc. I have the most success with Cammy and Laura but I don't enjoy playing either of them. If Laura's fireballs were more viable for Oki I would like her more. And I just don't like Cammy but I work best with her normals so far.
I'm looking at buying Ibuki but I don't know if she has what I'm looking for either
he's a mixed bag
he has no reversal other than v trigger, minimal combo damage, and not so great anti airs
all he really has going for him are above average normals, the threat of a command grab, and his fucking walk/dash speed is insanely good
I enjoy the mechanics, but the favoritism towards certain characters is ridiculous.
There's literally no excuse for why Ryu has been so retarded for so long. One DP should not do more than other characters' 3-5 hit combos.
And the jabbing. Jesus christ the jabbing. This is fucking Street Jabber V we're talking about.
In 99% of situations, if you're in a spot you don't want to be in, just fucking hit LP four times and you're out with no consequence.
>frame trap characters
Play M Bison.
Someone can be a fan of Street Fighter without having played SFV
I just bought it for $24 and I think it's worth the price of a $50 game. I do like how the characters aren't behind a paywall and you just play the modes. Making you try the new characters is fun and you might find a new main.
It needs a lot of polish, but it's definitely the best vanilla version of Street Fighter out there if we're talking about gameplay. One can hope it actually becomes truly great come the last version.
>playing bots that teach you absolutely nothing but bad habits
My other caveat is I hate charge characters or I'd be all over him.
As a fighting game for itself, the game probably wouldn't be a great deal. But as a reaction of the bullshit SFIV introduced, it feels amazing.
I tried going back to USFIV and I simply couldn't do it. The first player I faced picked Rolento and it instantly reminded me why I dropped the game in the first place.
We had a great time, SFIV. But you belong in the dirt.
Most people agree Balrog is a very solid character. But yeah pretty much all of them are low/mid tier.
>One DP should not do more than other characters' 3-5 hit combos.
what fucking character are you playing that has a 5 hit combo that does less than 140 damage
You're playing idiots then and are kind of an idiot yourself. Jabbing is the safest way to get yourself Crush Countered. Just don't try and fancy resets or setups and you're good.
Capcom hasn't handled jabs well since third strike. SF4, jabs are your main source of damage despite being the safest moves. SFV, jabs are a ridiculously viable get out of jail free card.
Learn to meaty and crush counter.
what did third strike do to negate it? been years since i played
>missing the entire point
I guess everygame with mp should just cut out sp since they don't behave like humans. Not everyone is entering a competition to be the best you sperg.
>people only play for the money
i'm tired of this shitty argument. you think the majority of current players really think they have a shot at any of that money?
if you just mean top players, then many of them have expressed positive opinions of the game. others have expressed negative opinions. but this shit happens with every new iteration of street fighter.
>I guess everygame with mp should just cut out sp since they don't behave like humans
right exactly, glad you agree
Neither are most of the online players. It's about competing with others in a fighting game, which happens to be competitive by nature.
Not even the person you replied to. Playing a fighting game solo is stupid.
You won't get free 15 hit combos after jabbing like in SF4 and you won't get a free confirm into super like in SFV without some very strict execution.
Jabs are annoying but 90% of the time getting jabbed out of pressure is your own fault for not having your frame traps down pat. That, or you're doing something when you don't have frame advantage.
>sf5
>very strict execution
>Playing a fighting game solo is stupid.
climb out your ass for a second and realize it's a fucking video game like any other that happens to have a competitive aspect to it. People have fun playing offline and have been doing so for years and years.
You can't read, clearly.
durr
When are we getting more characters? Don't tease me with Sakura, damnit.
pro players i should say. Just look how SF4 was dropped like a rock after all the support moved to 5.
I really like Alex, I haven't clicked with a character like that in a long time and he is so much fun to play but fuck me if doesn't feel like I'm doing all this work for what Ryu can do off a punch.
oh fuck I'm retarded lmao
I feel like they should have just added on to 4 since it was ported over
Eventually.
You deserve death faggot
This.
For me the biggest crime is that the battle lobby is shit. You cant filter by region and since you can't get any fight money playing in lobby it's pretty difficult to find a good lagless match.
>SFV worse than vanilla SF4
>People have fun playing offline and have been doing so for years and years.
That's because they can't handle having their illusion shattered of being the best. They're looking for novelty and don't really want to actually play the game. They will get the game, push a few buttons and then shelf it. And yet they will claim to be fans of the franchise, even though all they do is making posts about Sakura being their waifu.
It's like people buying Quake III only to play against bots. You're denying the game its purpose because you're weak and maybe not that big of a fan.
When?
Thanks for the assessment, armchair psychologist.
It would be cool if you could do fight money matches but it would end up being full of shady shit.
You're welcome, casual.
Beaners were the worst thing to happen to online gaming.
Not worth 60 bucks.
Would be a good game for half its price.
I'm platinum.
You sound like a child, it's a game. People play it for fun, not to prove their skills. These casuals are what keep these games alive because they make up the games sales and the rest of us who do more will stick with the game. It's always been like this.
Again, head out of your ass. People are paying for a product and want something of worth.
It's on sale at Amazon.
Anybody who picks a character with a bad AA in any Street Fighter is a fucking retard, and no character without a good AA should ever be considered good.
You're just asking yourself to get fucked by a very abusable approach.
How there can be any 2D fighter in this day that has characters without a good AA option is completely beyond me.
This doesnt apply to SF only.
Still a casual then?
No, you're not. Ranks don't matter, anyway.
Probably a tier enthusiast, too.
According to world rankings, evidently not.
CFN?
LOWT1ERGOD, you?
RZR_INFILTRATION
>super silver
I need content that matters.
I wouldve sacrificed the shitty story mode for one extra character easily.
You have shit priorities when it comes to fighting games.
Point being?
>These casuals are what keep these games alive
Actually, it's the competitive scene that keeps these games alive. They're the ones who keep playing long after the casuals have moved on. They're the ones buying new editions, buying DLC and following up on events. Casuals mean nothing in the long run.
>People play it for fun, not to prove their skills.
Proving your skill is fun. Outplaying your (human) opponent is fun. Growing as a player is fun. There's nothing fun about beating a machine that has been programmed to job.
change the O to a zero
can get it $30 like i did off cdkeys dot com
now you have no excuses go buy it
Still wrong bitch, that would be L0WT1ERG0D
It's L0WT13RG0D
How about getting both like any good game? The fact that you think that you can only have one or the other means you need to get Capcoms dick out of your eyes.
Keep telling yourself casuals don't matter, they are what make the most money. MK series is a clear example of that. Tekken 6 was a main game and was directed to the more casual audience and sold more than TTT2 which was for the more hardcore.
second part is your opinion, who the hell made you the choice maker of what is fun?
It's a pretty dumb argument, really. Most online players don't even compete at tournaments.
And most pros have moved on to SFV because they have been playing the same game for seven years. Seven fucking years. Possibly more since it has been out in arcades for even longer.
People get tired of a game if the time coordinate is long enough, no matter how good it is. Players dropped 3S for vanilla SFIV, goddamnit.
>How about getting both like any good game?
Time wasted on single player content is time that was taken away from content that matters.
Any game that has both could have more of the stuff that actually counts.
You're an idiot.
>missing the reference
Who allowed these subhuman no BBC having cucks into sf threads?
you can keep repeating that same shit people starting saying when the backlash hit V, but that doesn't make it objective
