harder than the 970 cucks

Should have just bought a 1070

It's alright but you're gonna get outmeme'd by AMD in a couple of years when new APIs will become widespread.

It's good but overpriced.

It's a great card op. What have you upgraded from?

Why doe? 6GB is a reasonable amount of VRAM for 1080p, 980ish performance, cheaper than an 8GB 480 in my country and actually in stock and available to buy.

Uhh i just bought one too and i'm waiting it to arrive

I hope i did gud from my 660gtx

>couple of years

Like when he's already moved on?

>mfw just bought a 1070 and now went from console pleb to PC master race in one single day.

I'm playing games comfortably now at 100+ fps on max settings

Feels good man

Should have gotten a 480

My Xbox One with it's gorgeous 900p visual and "30" fps.

Been playing Overwatch Epic settings @ 80 fps, DOOM high settings @ 60 fps and Dark Souls III high settings @ 60 fps.

It's a good card.

This.

>buying brand-new low-end hardware

Leagues ahead of a 660 my man. Any card above $150 is really.

Why? All the benchmarks I've seen the 480 is outperformed by a 970

Pretty damn hard I'd say.
It'll get worse once Volta comes out.

>Implying anyone is actually selling used 980 Tis for the same price as a 1060
>Implying anyone is even selling used 980s for the same price as the 1060

>buying something that fits your needs and wants

How awful.

I just bought a 970. Am i ok?

No you got meme'd

Is a 1060 or RX 480 better than a 970?

I too can cherry pick results

why? is this a new meme? I left v like 5 years ago. I am a pol guy.

1060 cant max out OW at 144fps? why????

Show me those benchmarks

>1060 3G
Try the 6GB version.

It's a budget meme card, bad optimization is gonna make it obsolete pretty soon.

It's not a meme. It's just all the "I'm waiting for X" fags spouting bullshit.

Pretty badly. No good reason not to get a 1070 if you're plunging the money for a 10-series.

Anandtech "bench" page. Only game that outperforms a 970 is Ashes of the singularity.

fuck off 1070 is the best gpu.

Nvidia cuts off their lowest line first. The rx 480 has more vram and would have lasted you longer due to it being more adept at dx12/vulkan.

Well if you upgrade within 1-2 years shouldn't be an issue. Or if you player older dx11 games.

960 proud owner here
i will continue getting 60fps for the foreseeable future and there's nothing you can do about it

>buy 1070
>Realize the only game in my library worth maxing out is Witcher 3
>Remember Witcher 3 sucked

I got memed pretty hard.

Pascal is the memest of memes in regards to future proofness, it's the new 700 series. There's no point investing in it at all unless you're okay with having to immediately upgrade to Volta.

1060 to 1170 or 1180 sounds like a much more practical upgrade path for most people than going from x70 to (x+1)70 or x80 to (x+1)80.

That said if he bought a 1060 expecting it to last him longer than 2 years then yes, he meme'd the fuck out of himself.

this. I have no reason to upgrade from a 970, at least until I feel like wasting money on VR shit.

Is this card worth getting over an R9 290?

'Cuz fuck me the cooler for the R9 louder than trying to let one rip in a quiet area.

If you have a 144hz monitor it's great for making older games run super smooth.

>paying $200 for a low end card
>good upgrade path

Just stop

Lol if you think you can even achieve 60 in games like bamham knight, Witcher 3, Star Citizen or mankind divided

You didn't get meme'd too hard. No SLI but you don't care. It's less a meme than the 3.5 GB GTX 970 and should last you several years.

>TW3 sucked

It's so sad to see people with terminal stupidity.

Volta won't take until 2018 and then I'll move onto a 1160. Buying anything higher each year is just stupid

Reminder that you shouldn't buy the 1060 3Gb. Not only will 3Gb of VRAM probably keep you from maxing out textures in brand new games, but the card itself is NOT just a 3Gb version of the 1060 6Gb. There are more differences than just VRAM, the 3Gb version is the "real" 1060 and the 6Gb version is closer to a 1060Ti.

Its the latest game benchmark

>Nvidia cherry pick
>literally broken game A
>broken game B
>broken game C

The only game that work well is Witcher 3.
Tomb Rider, Project Cars, Arkham Knight all is poor ports with GameWork and DX12 shoved in.

Been using one for the last few weeks.

It's a pretty nice upgrade from my old HD7870.

Best card of the generation to buy. The performance is actually pretty absurd for the price and is more than you need

And Hitman, Battlefield and The Division, plus it's a much better card for DX12 and Vulkan. Anyway, it's a well known fact AMD cards get better performance with age while NVIDIA gimps old cards to sell new ones. Still baffles me how people can shill for such a shitty company so much.

>Anyway, it's a well known fact AMD cards get better performance with age while NVIDIA gimps old cards to sell new ones

AMD supports cards 3 generations back with new drivers

nvidia supports cards 7 generations back with new drivers

shit about gimping cards never happened and is an emotional lie made up by people who are teens and can't afford nvidia cards.

Not supporting older cards with drivers is definitively "gimping". Older cards getting lower framerate in games because you enable hairworks on a 3 generation old card is you being stupid.

>buying a low end Goyimvidia card

enjoy having worse performance than a 7870 in about 2 years or less.

>disabled
>disabled
>disabled

Why are you calling it benchmarks?

>3gb
See The 3gb version and the 6gb version are different bins, their benchmark performance will not be the same. This isn't like the 960 2gb and 960 4gb where they would get the exact same performance.

Latest game benchmark with the $200 3GB cutdown performance version with worse-than-reference Palit dual cooling.

Context is everything dearie.

CHS is AMD specific shit, like how AO is to Nvidia.
Both were disabled to make the bench more neutral.

Your point is?

>emotional lie
It's well documented faggot, google it.
>hairworks
Don't even get me started on the shitfest that is gameworks.

>Buy $250 card
>Trounce 970 and 390, max out everything at 1080p 60FPS
>Volta comes out
>Skip straight to a 4k monitor with 1170/1180
>1070 and 1080 users have to do the exact same anyway

>GTX 1060 3GB
>$200

Really? Thats too much.

Actually, you should take your own advice because everything that is documented shows just the opposite.

i don't have to think it, it's a fact that i do get 60 in these games
you just have to tweak shit like a pc user would

I use 970 almost exclusively for highpoly 3d modelling and texturing and rendering and environment art in ue4.
It's a great card. Very effecient and reliable.

But it actively makes the game look worse. All other games have those effects why would you remove it?
Its like saying "for this benchmark we are going to do it without anti aliasing, because some hardware doesn't handle it the same as others"

>max out everything at 1080p 60FPS

1080p60 performance is not a static thing. It varies greatly depending on the game and AAA titles constantly push the graphics fidelty even in 1080p. See Deus Ex for an example of a game this low end card can't run at 60.

You're fine.
I've had 970 for a year and I love it.

I bought an aftermarket 980 off of ebay so I can max out 1080p/60 this year. Was going to get a 1060 but those fucking things were never in stock so whatever. Will probably upgrade to 1440p and buy a 1170 next gen.

Explain why the 780Ti gets trounced by the 290X in the newest games.

I found this weird
>both cards have a thing that does the same effect differently, both are competing for effeciency
>let's disable it because it's unfair
This is fucking corporate competition, if one is falling behind everyone NEEDS to know it for the good of everyone

youtube.com/watch?v=DvCsT_dk-1E
Sure thing, retard.

Lmao, 700 series got JUSTed into oblivion.

Exactly. And at the same time we can see who does it best aswell.

why not 1080?

It's a bit overkill for 1080p.

You do realise that's a testament to how good a card the 290x is and not evidence of active Nvidia gimping.

I do 1080p and I wish I had a titanx

doesn't seem too bad if it's low end. i fell for the poo in the gpu meme and ended up with a 950 because i don't care about ultra settings, but in 2 years i'll already have another one.

>5.5 gigs

>having the same graphics card for more than two years

so, what is wrong with 1080?

These are the prices Id get from Finnish stores.
1060 seems like the best option to me, what do you think? Either buy that or wait I guess.

i had a 780ti for 4 years and I only upgraded to 970 because I did highpoly 3d and it couldn't handle 2k texturing at 50k polys all that well

Yes I have had a 7850 for 4 years and it still runs every game flawlessly. Problem?

Even though the 780Ti was better than the 290X back when the 780Ti wasn't getting cucked by nVidia?

I distinctly remember MGSV TPP running worse than GZ specifically because optimizations for TPP were disabled on the 700 series but not the 900 series, yet were enabled for GZ on 700 series. Proven by a dude who hacked his drivers to enable the performance optimizations again with no downsides.

nothing if you're only gaming

But...

I'm unironically considering eating an AMD bullet for a first time in forever.
This gen is basically a placeholder and I'll have to swap to Volta in a year or two anyway.

That depends what you're upgrading from, doesn't it? My 760 has been showing its age a lot recently, got a 1070 a couple of days ago and it feels pretty great, to be honest.

How long is a year or two to you?
>And after volta I have to buy another gpu after a couple years and so on.

Not long at all. I tend to use same PCs for double that at the very least. But this time an upgrade has aligned with a shit generation.

titan series is a distinctively card for 3d and rendering. IT's not made for gaming and it sucks at it.

Hahaha, you realize that you just linked a video proving my point, right?

Retard indeed.

gtx 1080 if you're playing at more than 1080p or have a 144hz monitor

gtx 1070 if you're at 1080p/60hz and have money

rx 480 if you don't have money

yes you memed yourself

1070 is a 1440p/1080p 144hz card, it's utterly retarded for 1080p/60FPS unless you plan on holding on to it for over 3 years which is still retarded because it's an nvidia card.

Both the 1060 and 480 are more than sufficient for 1080p/60FPS for as long as any sane person would hang on to a GTX x60/ Radeon x80 card.

I have a 970 and its good card. the memes are lies. Only time I experienced vram issues was gta 5 a year ago and that was because the game was unoptimized shit, but it's playable now

Yeah and regarding games released in 2017-18 you can just wait untill you buy a new card with 6gb+ ram.

>1060
Good choice muh nigga

>MSI
Bad choice muh nigga

MSI hardware is terrible. It'll last maybe a year or 2 before it craps out. Then again, I swear I've seen more MSI shilling in here recently so it might be a maymay thread. IDK.

Regardless, just hope your MSI products is 1 of the few rarities that don't fuck you over in the long run

I plan on getting a 1060/480 once they become steadily available.

Still running a 6970 which has been very good to me throughout the years.

tfw when I bought 770 and year later it gets only 60% performance in comparison to amd cards which were performing on par before new generation. It's nothing else, but planned osbsoletion and it's not even surprising seeing as how pever more powerfull are new GPUs, but that doesn't mean anyone should support it.
tfw my tfw has no face

Has the GTX 1070 reduced to its originally advertised price of $379.99 yet?

>which is still retarded because it's an nvidia card.

not to mention new consoles are coming out to further push baseline requirements for multiplats, new APIs are coming and we're about the see the largest shift in standard resolution in about 10 years.

Anyone who thinks they've bought a truly future proof GPU this year is dumber than usual.
