What I wouldn't give for a WRPG set in an Eberron-type world.
If Final Fantasy can do it why can western devs only repeat the classical medieval Europe shtick?
I think the reason for this was because they werent sure if people would buy it if it was completely Western Styled and wanted to ease players into the setting by introducing familiar concepts
>Why is my fantasy game fantastical?
Because it was a setting where there were no niggers.
Same reason lots of people prefer to watch older films.
This Wild Arms? I played the second one thinking it would be turn-based RDR and was pissed as fuck when it turned to sci-fi with spaceships and computers. Is there really no wild west RPG to be found?
Yeah I know Live a Live had the one scenario but that barely counts.
>Western style RPG
>Plot devolves into sci-fi mumbo jumbo about a quarter of the way through.
What
Its a fucking JRPG you twat. How did you NOT expect it to be like that?
WHAT?
>western style RPG
>MC turns into a superhero with a laser sword and chest beam vs the 1st major boss
...
...
are these games any good? I bought the first 3 on PSN during the flash sale cause they looked intresting
To be fair, most of the South imitated the Old World as much as it could afford to and the average fort in the West tried to be a castle.
Consider that a land- or resource- Baron with no overarching government is basically a King in all but nomenclature.
>bullying Wild Arms
Stop.
Yes. Good music, too.
youtu.be
>Wild Arms Series
>Basically a mish-mash of every fucking gentre imaginable where sorceresses, wild west gunslingers android kids and shamans do battle with evil planet-murdering borg robot aliens and metaphysically manipulative digi-lolis
The antagonist in the second game was a parallel universe, Sup Forums. What's not to love about the whole series?
How did a genre built around putting aside realism for the sake of letting your imagination run wild, manage to get some of the worst MUH REALISM autists?
>*Whistling Intensifies*
Because only drifters adopt that culture. Everyone else in the world thinks they're lunatics and bandits.
Wild Arms 3 confirmed for best ending to a video game ever. Fuck you if you disagree.
>Eberron-type world
Fuck off. I'd like an RPG set in Iron Kingdoms setting, though.
Genre conventions. Everyone always wants to tap that existing audience.
Sadly it was from PS1 onward that practice of licensing JPop songs began to torment the JRPG genre. It's why I'll always like games like Wild Arms, Suikoden 2, Breath of Fire 4, etc that actually set out to establish their own identity from the get-go.
yes, they're some what like Zelda with JRPG combat, at least thats how i remember them
A change in time
I finally made uuuuuup my mind
I raise my hand from beneath the shiiiiiiiifting sand
goddamn I wish these games got proper localisation. The scripting sucks so bad in them
...
I always thought the wild arms series looked cool but I never got around to playing em.
Are they worth it? Recommendations?
o aomt
the first 3 were on sale for like $3 EACH
>implying sci fi isn't god tier in any RPG
New Wild Arms when?
I fucking hate people like you. Every FF game in the last 2 decades has a distinct setting spanning from diesel punk, steam punk, high fantasy, and modern.
Go fuck yourself, westacuck, and stop spreading this shitty meme
>skipping the masterpiece that is Wild Arms 1
Shit, negro, what are you doing?
Apparently some guy's resume said he was on a project that combined RPG elements with an old western setting and many people think that the new WildArms
>that complete lack of ass
I didn't know Ireland made RPGs too.
Don't forget about Suikoden 3 m80

ZET!
>Skipping leg day
Can we talk about Violated Heroine instead?
>posting the inferior version
I love the settings of Wild Arms games, but they are like the epitome of old-fashioned obnoxious JRPG random battles. I think Suikoden II is the only game from that era that had a random battle rate that wasn't fucking awful.
>doing long ass dungeon, trying to finish puzzle
>6 random battles before you finish
JUST
I like the instrumental version more. I'm a terrible person, aren't I?
...
I fucking remember that dupe glitch that could get you a max stack of any consumble
Oh wow. I did not know that there was official genderswap art.
Honestly, I was kind of annoyed by this as well. Wild Arms began with a really interesting premise, but then you just started in a very typical Final Fantasy town and went through a very typical Final Fantasy inventory management and fought some very typical Final Fantasy enemies through the very typical Final Fantasy dungeon. Outside equipping a gun rather than a sword, there was hardly any difference in the first game.
I hear that later games in the series did more to stand out, though.
The 3rd one has the most Cowboy shit out of the whole series
Did this game come with two discs? I recently bought it, and it was in a double case (Like MGS or the Final Fantasy games) but there was only one disc. Am I missing anything?
I wish this shit was on PC.
emulate it
...
so is the PS1 version of Wild Arms the Best or is the remake better?
> only western rpg series
>made in japan
why is this allowed?
I thought the remake was great but for some reason a lot of people didn't like it
I don't like sci-fi in my medieval fantasy RPGs. It breaks my immersion.
...
I like it, as long as there's hints and it doesn't suddenly pop up.
I miss Wizardry 8
