Best voice acting. Been playing pic related after going through the first twos campaigns in previous games. I've fond memories of the series but have to ask why are the Tau so damn worthless? I remember having to specialize my build for tanks and kroot to make them not fucking suck. But ya anyway DOW thread, rank those races.
Best factions >Space Marines >Orks >IG
Lame duck factions >Eldar >chaos >Sisters of Battle
>lists entry-level memes as the best factions >no 'nids
Sebastian Johnson
I'm with you on the Space Marines, but I found the Tau quite competent, especially in defense. My build specialized in tons of Fire Warriors and artillery, and some hard-hitting mech suits along with a bit of Kroot for offense.
Jeremiah Edwards
there were no Tyranids in Dark Crusade.
Zachary Morgan
tau is the best you cretin
Jaxson Wright
>No base defenses >expensive units >early game easily out maned
Henry Brown
You don't know how to play.
Tau and Eldar eat everyone's face. Orks can sort of hold their ground, the others are always playing at a pretty big disadvantage.
Robert Murphy
>There were never be a 40k game as complete as Soulstorm with Ultimate Apocalypse/Tyranid/GK/Daemon mods
why even live
Jeremiah Scott
>There were never be a 40k game as complete as Soulstorm with Ultimate Apocalypse/Tyranid/GK/Daemon mods
Except there is because the mods you mentioned exist?
Julian Hernandez
well I meant "there will never be another"
Caleb Barnes
you need to learn to read.
Tyler Bailey
but tau are arguably the best race, and can especially break the game in singleplayer with their high mobility stealthed units
Benjamin Johnson
>there will never be another
Why would I want the same game again? Soulstorm doesn't look bad nor is it plagued by any technical problems like incompatible Windows versions or hardware. It's perfectly fine as it is and I'm just waiting for a new Dawn of War game.
DoW2 was pretty great fun, especially with painting a more realistic picture of Warhammer 40k with the artstyle, kick-ass marines, and so on.
Can't wait to get my hands on the Dawn of War 3, either. So far, it looks very much like the original DoW with some neat new stuff added in. It's not just a shitty "こぴぷ", so I'm pretty interested to see where it's going to go.
Jaxson Rivera
Are you retarded? There's no tyranids in dawn of war
Zachary Thomas
Have you seen the gameplay footage? It's literally league of legends tier comic book graphics and DoW2 style unit management.
It looks like utter shit.
Nicholas Morris
>Have you seen the gameplay footage?
Have you? Because the things you're describing don't align with any of it.
>League of legends comic book tier graphics. You sir have triggered my autism, since that's a shit argument that isn't even right.
And the Gameplay is even closer to DoW1 than DoW2. You don't get absolutely fucked for building one wrong squad, and you don't just have one base.
Gavin Evans
>implying this thread is going to stay in DoW 1's boundaries anyway
Also DoWII.
Henry Ward
>1 of each type of unit >epic hotkey action for every unit >graphics are the worst I've seen any game have in years
Literally Dawn of War 2: Remastered
Come on, man.
Elijah Foster
>nice thumbnail
It looks like trash, man.
Xavier Peterson
>1 of each unit >Devestators literally have three separate variants for weapons
>'Epic' Hotkey Abilities This has been a thing since DoW1, name one squad that couldn't gain some kind of ability. Even the Heroes only have two abilities now.
But if I can't give Soleria a Chainsword I'm gonna be mad.
Luis Martinez
No it doesn't.
But they're being especially mean to the Eldar. Their super unit got revealed but they didn't get a demo mission like the spess mehreens. They just get blown up.
Can't wait for the next demo where for the third time we use the same guys but this time beat up the orks.
Austin Hernandez
how so? when I played against them they are garbage that can't defend dick unless its the stronghold which has like 3 big bases.
James Garcia
Postimg from my fucking phone at work faggot. Doubt you'd know much about work.
Jose Hughes
>no kill animations >no cover system
Haha, oh wow. DoW is dead.
Samuel Rogers
yup vanilla Tau were bretty bad, but considering how they fare in the real Warhammer universe, is this a great representation for those blue skinned smurf fucks
Jace Bell
Whatver you're seeing, user. I'm not seeing it. I've watched and been amazed by that very same gameplay on my big screen back home while sitting right next to it and inhaling every last detail... How can you possibly say this looks bad with a straight face?
I'd agree on some nitpicks like the bolters could use a bit tuning and the lascannons being utter shite ATM. But the rest is pretty darn gorgeous.
>epic hotkey action for every unit Like what? user, the heroes have an ability or two just like they have in DoW1. Normal units don't have any abilities besides Assault Marines jumping.
Camden Stewart
>Sync kills I get the reason why but it's a stupid fucking reason. Hopefully it's possible for units to get gibbed by explosives or heavy weapons.
>No cover sytem user there is one. It's a lot like a bunked sytem but there is one.
Also we've seen one planet of an unknown number, the settings will change and hopefully cover variants will vary with them.
Oliver Morris
>Hotkey actions Not him but I remember a lot of the infantry squads having grenade variants, and a few of the specialist squads (Zerkers, Repentias) having a sort of Enrage thing.
Not disagreeing with you but there were other abilities.
Robert Bailey
I'm talking about DoW3, actually. At least what we've seen of it so far, anyway.
Angel Garcia
So let me get this straight >no kill animations, arguably one of the best bits of DoW >no unit gibs at all >"cover system" >only three factions, the rest will be DLC >literally a SC2 challenger >graphics that look like an iphone 3 could run it
Jesus Christ. Is this unironically what passes for quality these days?
Have the devs not seen DoW: Dark Crusade with the titanium wars mod? Who the fuck is going to unironically pay for this shitfest?
Brandon Stewart
>no cover system Fuck off and go get scammed by you shitty ww2 not-rts and take your shitty cancerous mechanics with you.
Blake Johnson
MEANWHILE, ON THE PLANET CRONUS, THE Sup Forums ARMIES GATHER UNDER ALEXANDER
Thomas Campbell
what are you talking here? Singleplayer or multiplayer? Either way they can both send out the stealth teams to grab up so many resources so fast to give you an edge and with just a little bit of micro you can make the fire warriors do great damage early game and become undeniably the best ranged infantry lategame with the increased range upgrade you get from the kroot rooute upgrade
Dominic Cooper
>unironically thinks an 10000 APM cancerous gookfest is preferable to a more realistic system that penalizes placing units like a fucking retard without regard for the world they inhabit >literally believes that having the high ground is the end all of combat tactics
Pathetic desu.
Jacob Barnes
that predator laser cannon is utterly non-satisfactory
Jason Martinez
>no unit gibs at all
user... please. Just look at or the gameplay posted. There's tons of gibs everywhere.
>"cover system" It's the one from DoW1 (even has the same craters from the interviews).
>literally a SC2 challenger What?
>graphics that look like an iphone 3 could run it No, user. You just have zero idea of how graphics work. Don't tell me you're also one of those people who find recent Total War games pretty?
Levi Harris
DE were actually pretty fun if you just ran enough witches and avoided crap like the "jetbikes". Who the fuck thought slow jetbikes was a good idea.
Carson Martin
>no craters in the ground >not having to force your troops through a ten feet stack of corpses just to get to the first enemy base >titan just standing still and shooting pretty lights at the enemies, instead of utterly annihilating them
Who the fuck is in charge of this utter bullshit?
Eli Anderson
I fully agree. The original laser was better, hopefully they can splice something between it and the current shit to make a good looking effect without triggering the autism brigade.
Ethan Taylor
>wants less depth and more blob2win
DoW1 fanboys in a nutshell
Lucas Moore
>1984 get I'd rather shoot myself in the face than be lead by that American cunt for 3 seconds.
Andrew Rogers
>No, user. You just have zero idea of how graphics work.
I know that I like more than one color on my maps. And I know that I like smoke coming from weapons and explosions, as well as any kind of lasting scarring on the map.
I know that I like blood splattering over my units, and units actually interacting with each other, not at each other.
I know that this game will be shit.
Blake Roberts
>titan
It's not a titan for fuck's sake. It's just an Imperial Knight and these things are nowhere near as bullshit-y in power level.
Henry Hill
>No necrons
Blake Lewis
ah. Single player. But which in ur opinion is the worth wild tech tree to go for? Kroot or suits?
Jayden Nelson
>I know that this game will be shit.
Look, I see I can't reason with the likes of you. If you're definitely sure the game will be absolute dogshit not worth a single penny from a purse with a hole in it, then so be it.
Joshua Jenkins
>they don't even have titans
They had titans modded in over ten years ago, what the fuck are these guys waiting for?
>can't even equip melee weapons on the knight Shit game tbqh
Wyatt Barnes
Kroot against melee races, suits againt ranged races.
Nolan Wright
Nice argument.
Good to know that I'm correct and the graphics look so fucking bland that watching picasso shit out some Indigo Blue would make a preferable color scheme.
Daniel Harris
OP you've got some problems if you dont think eldar are the shit...
Dominic Stewart
Why don't they make space marines out of Catachan Jungle Fighters?
Elijah Taylor
>They had titans modded in over ten years ago
No, they haven't.
Real titans are as big as the whole fucking map and destroy about the same area in a single shot. Surely, making a game where you control normal troops would have a meaning if you put a monster like that in.
And there will be different Knight gear variants... don't see why they couldn't equip it with the melee weapons as well.
Jack Powell
>Thought they broke our backs...Ha!
Oliver James
There are titans in all sizes.
Dylan Butler
>Why don't they make space marines out of Catachan Jungle Fighters? It would be a waste of resources as the fucks don't need to be augmented. If one became a space marine I can imagine a tau plasma round to the chest would only burn his chest hair.
Nicholas Young
Not as small as Knights. Forge Worlds literally shit out Knights because it's what they trade for resources. The smallest Titan is probably twice the size of a regular Knight, if not bigger.
Liam Martin
Eh, I don't think the Imperial Guard are really played in the game as they should be. Like the Guard ARE human-wave rushing 'drown them in our blood' type faction, they really shouldn't get the job done with like 50 guys.
Although this is a problem on the tabletop as well, with players just using IG armor and not the footsoldiers. Spoils the fucking faction desu
Ryan Long
They do, they're called Dark Angels :^)
Lucas Torres
ADEPTUS SORORITAS!
Matthew Powell
SERAPHIM SQUAD!
Aiden Anderson
That's a Warhound, mate.
In your pic, it doesn't look much bigger than the Imp. knight does in DoW3. Meanwhile, that thing actually pushes 35 meters in canon.
>pic related >Warhound is about twise the size of that Reaver.
Jose Carter
I'm watching this winter assault longplay and fuuuck the player refuses to use Chimeras to transport guardsmen across the field in mission 2. He therefore doesn't know that guardsmen can shoot from inside. Instead he uses the chimeras as anti-vehicle.
Imagine being a game developer. How do you convince these type of people to ride the transport vehicles? Even with all the instructions it seems the memo wasn't understood.
Nathan Kelly
When did Mars start rolling out Knights, I'm no fa/tg/uy but are they new?
Tyler Jackson
WITCHCRAFT HERESY AND MUTATION!
Adrian Wood
No, they've around since horus heresy.
Levi Reyes
Well, speaking of DoW1 only but, how do you think you can fit a thousand trash units on a map?
It either would overwhelm the oponent making it cheesy as a zerg rush or they would get blasted away nonetheless making it pointless.
DoW1 does it kinda alright still, they are extremely cheap, easy to maintain, when massed can actually handle even massed space marines, which is impressive to say the least.
Noah Moore
I never bother with Chimeras. I just get Russes, a Baneblade then Sentinels. Typically works, especially when I found out guardsmen with plasma guns absolutely wipe all of the heavy factions if they can be left alone for more than 10 seconds.
Dominic Perry
They've just recently been given a codex and models and such, and because they're expensive as fuck GW really tries to push them.
Isaac Hill
They're actually super-old units reintroduced into the canon (and given a Warmachine-esque makeover). Basically, they've been sent out with the first human colonists, now used as the ruling robots of said planets (royalty of pilots and shit).
Wyatt Cox
You don't, they call the game shit and move on to league of assfaggots or something.
Check the comments, they must be riddled with mad people.
Logan Ward
Knights go to Knight Worlds, which are Agri-Worlds who in turn supply the FWs with food and ore resources. Compared to other things Forge Worlds can make Knights relatively cheap enough to give them to ruling houses on the Knight Worlds every year or two for the tithes. Ruling Houses then use Knights to gain/maintain power over other Houses.
They're not entirely common but not exactly rare either. The ones you see with Mehreens have gone 'Freeblade' and aren't attached to their houses any more, letting them effectively go and serve however they want.
There's a pretty neat Mobile game where you play as one.
Blake Jackson
Cool thanks for the short versions. They kind of remind me of Sir Killalot from Robot Wars. I'll have a check for the mobile ap.
Joshua Johnson
Urgh, that player is fucking awful. The game itself is hard to judge at this point but my hype levels are at NO HYPE right now.
Logan Lopez
>I don't understand what strategy is but i will assume a thousand things in order to defend a system that i believe is better so my insecurity doesn't shows.
Xavier Smith
>Urgh, that player is fucking awful.
I'd rather him than the legion of know-it-alls that usually play. They spastically skip around, click a billion times despite seeing the unit is out of range,... As if pretending to know how to play RTS games.
I'd rather watch a guy who knows no beter but at least shows the authentic game experience than tryhards who are in tears by the end, wishing for it to end so they can stand up and say they didn't get their ass handed to them by the AI in an obvious massacre/powerwanking campaign mission.
Landon Murphy
>three races >Day one DLC confirmed >no tight death animations
I don't know why I even bother with video games anymore.
Juan Reyes
>the epitome of skill is selecting all your bases, holding down one button to spam ten million units and then microing every one individually so as to maximize there worth >vs knowing how terrain works, baiting the enemy to engage in a bad position, where battles are decided on how well your control and positioning is, not how fast you can spam units out of your base and click like a kid in a frenzied cocaine binge whilst suffering from ADHD
Matthew Foster
>Day one DLC confirmed
Oh, really? Got the source for that announcement?
Luke Davis
How is this game, anyway?
Does it allow for some mecha fun or just a run of the mill gun them down with a fancy skin?
Parker Smith
It's a bit on rails with the shooting but it features melee combat and you can't just turn off your brain.
Melee is more or less waiting for the little arrows to be on the center of the bar before tapping, shooting varies between tap and hold to fire Stubber/Melta, hold two fingers down for heavy weapon targetting, double tap for your shell-mounted weapon.
Early on it get repetitive, especially with the animations, but by the time you're fighting Squiggoths it varies up enough. It has 'Multiplayer' too with a sort of houst mechanic.
Camden Moore
>unironically believes they will limit the game to three races
Come on, you know they want that easy money.
Camden Perry
There's a difference between the game getting expansions and day one DLC bullshit like the stuff Creative Assembly pulled with Chaos in TW:W. I welcome getting new factions and campaigns, possibly getting even more races done than in original DoW. Getting ripped out on content is a different thing altogether.
Ayden Morris
Dark Crusade had the worst voice acting but the best faction.
Tau are garbage though.
Levi Hughes
...
Grayson Robinson
Shit taste
DoW: good MP good singleplayer
Winter Ass: good MP great singeplayer
Dark Crusade: best singleplayer worst multiplayer
Soulstorm: worst singleplayer best multiplayer
Chase Thomas
>why are the Tau so damn worthless? They arent, Tau are top/high tier in competetive play.
Here is the actual 1v1 DoW tier list.
DoW 1v1 Tier list >Top Tier: Eldar, Tau
>High Tier: Chaos, Ork, Dark Eldar
>Mid Tier: Sisters of Battle, Space Marines, Imperial Guard
>Low Tier: Necrons
Some people think SoB are higher
Jacob Morgan
>Dark Crusade >best singleplayer
Jacob Martinez
Can you prove me wrong?
Michael Cox
>skirmish matches against AI that cheats >best singleplayer
Landon Turner
You've never ever seen vehicle rushes from muhreens apparently
Ryder Martin
It would've been better to say campaign, sorry.
Kayden Price
>Whatver you're seeing, user. I'm not seeing it. The ground and terrain-edges look fucking cartoony, for one.
Angel Powell
That's literally what the campaign was though, stronghold missions notwithstanding. The territories were skirmish maps and you were plopped onto a map against 1 or 2 of them.
Gavin Martinez
Soulstorms campaign is worse though
Brayden Brown
Soulstorm's one being worse doesn't make Dark Crusade's any less shit. It's why the Retribution campaign suffered compared to DoW2 and Chaos Rising; it was too fractured and lost focus trying to shoehorn in every race instead of just focusing on the Space Marines
David Lee
I'm not the user your arguing with but I personally enjoyed the territory conquest over the story focused single player
Jaxon Collins
Back in my day, you would have been gassed.
Luke Collins
I'm not arguing with him, just having a discussion m8.
And I'm sure you did, but it doesn't change the fact that it was lazily done compared to other campaigns in the series.
Evan Hughes
Are you fucking retarded?
Do you even fucking know what a tier list means you underage little faggot?
