That trailer is going to be fucking infamous, since it's the last one Nomura directed, and the last on before the overall tone and presentation changed.

yeah, you can see nomuras was responsble for this, it just looks much better than it does now

I really hope this music is still in the game. Also hope they didn't change that scene with water magic in the hall. I guess its related to Leviathan bossfight.

i thin kthey said, that they cut this whole segment? i am not sure though

Tabata still had a chance to "Prove himself worthy" at TGS, i hope for meaty trailer with good music, if not... well, ill start worrying.

As i remember they said otherwise. But i can't confirm so not gonna spread lies,

i hope so too, but it looks like it will just be a video with cheese music ( like stand by me ) again

>just be a video with cheese music ( like stand by me ) again
We will see how Tabata-san "listens to fanbase"

trailer was pretty rad
but i can't help but notice it seemed choppy during the actual in-game action scenes

i'm hoping it was my internet being a bitch and cutting out, rather than actual in-game footage with fps drops

The other gameplay trailer runs smooth, but both of them are prerendered for the most part anyway

All these scenes was prerendered, even actual "gameplay" but still, atmosphere and tone in is trailer is beyond for everything was before and after it.

It really pains me to know that pretty much all that hallway sequence and the rooftop will probably never make into the game. So far all it seems is mash O to win

>seems is mash O to win
How it was? Mash X to win?

I doubt the Nomura combat would've been too complex either. The thing is that the current XV combat tries to be complex while also being really shallow. You'll probably never use most of the things you can do in the game
Tabata just can't design a good combat system and even the UI got worse and worse every year
2013 and 2014 had the simple minimalistic glass looking UI and now we ahve colours and shapes all over the place like some MMO

I don't even want to shittalk Tabata, but you can tell that suddenly becoming the director of a mainline FF was too much for him

I really hope there is possibily to turn off half of the UI.

Posting in thread before antiXV-kun appears in this thread with his daily comparison images comparing the perfect ffxv to "the witcher" and "MGSV".

Man I am loving all the shit posting this has caused and the game isn't even coming out till November.
You autistic man children are truly dedicated to the art of shitposting on an user image board

Okay

Btw which one looks better? OP-pic current version, this pic is Uncovered. What do you think guys?

shill pls go

>Tabata just can't design a good combat system

Nigger HE ALREADY DID. He literally could have copied and pasted Type-0's combat system and maybe added jumping, and It would be better than what XV has now.

Uncovered
And i don't want to start some shitposting chain or anyhting.
It's just that anyone with half a brain can tell that the Uncovered trailer and the enviroment trailer were running on PC, same with every gameplay video with blank prompts
The characters still look really good, but the lighting took a huge hit
They just had the wrong priorities right from the start while building Luminous with literally no hardware limitations in mind

> All those sonyggers who claimed hand on heart this shit was real time gameplay

You fuckos will never learn

Isn't it just different day time?
Let me post another comparision, 1 minute please.

1. Uncovered,

Only retards did, if those were sonyggers then so be it.

2. Current build.

Sorry guys dualshockers.com/2016/06/20/final-fantasy-xv-director-explains-why-niflheim-invasion-from-e3-2013-trailer-isnt-included-in-the-game/
>It’s not that we don’t need to show the Niflheim invasion to get the story across, but because that episode is something that would take up so much effort and time that rather than force it into the game, we started up its own separate project independently, and that’s the tale we wanted to tell with the film. That’s why we moved that to Kingsglaive. From a story perspective we’d have to have both the game and the film, both of these together in one package, but realistically that’s not something we could have done in one game, it’s too much.

Different lighting
The current build can still look good when you only see characters up close or in areas with contre-jour shots, but as soon as you compare actual gameplay and open fields you can tell that shadows, draw distance, LOD etc. was way scaled down. I mean it happens to most console releases, but they knew they were building a console game right from the start and the fact that global illumination is almost non existant at this point makes some scenes look really bad
They had the wrong priorities with the engine, it's a good engine on really good PCs, but at the same time that makes it a bad engine since it has almost no scaliblity

Don't you miss the 90s-early 2000s when they could apparently actually fit stuff into games?

I don't get why they always say it's too much
It's not like the invasion would've been a 10 hour segment, it's a fight + setpieces escape from the city.
They say they took it out because it's too much work, but then they added and changed other things and made the world map way too big for it's own good that probably took more work

This thread helped me pinpoint what was bothering me about the current build. For something called the Luminous Engine, the lighting sure fucking sucks

This is bad to hear honestly.

I'm sure glad they put it in the movie!

If i remember correctly Luminous wasn't even supposed to be a full engine at one point
It was a tool to add better lighting and GI to an already existing engine. Don't know why they changed that

The movie wasn't even that bad. It was an above average action flick. Doesn't deserve an 8% desu.

You mean put shit on multiple disc?

What the fuck are you talking about?
Its not like they confirmed that part is out of the game.

It was still on one game

Why you cut user score?

Tabata said months ago that it's cut. Same with characters taken out or changed

you should see >It’s very similar to the kind of decision we had to ask ourselves, OK do we spend another six years to develop that whole complete package as one game or do we spend three years to do it in the way that we’re doing now?
>I think, it really doesn’t affect it which one you get to see—from a story perspective whether you see it as part of the game or through the film, and how we tell that story is not such a thing which is affected by that choice.

fuck that invasion sequence was the only reason I got interested in this game. Now that that's gone I'm fucking done

>Its not like they confirmed that part is out of the game.

I just meant I don't often remember hearing "But we can't put that much in a video game!" because then. As another user said, it's still one game (it just spans multiple discs).

Should have just given us ffxv on 2 disc which would be more than enough.
Whatever space they have left on the second disc could be used for endgame content.

I'm upset to hear that prt won't be in the game, but that's just one scene of an entire game so I will still hold judgement till release

Because the general population has shit taste or spamvote rating websites, their ratings mean shit

It was only XV-kun
We all laughed at him while he desperately tried to convince us the Iron Giant combat wouldn't have button prompts.

>Game literally looks a full generation worse after 3 years of development

meme

The movie is not that bad, but nothing i'll ever watch again and after knowing that it's pretty much a substitute for the invasion part from the game makes it even worse
The movie looked great, but that's it. Why to many cuts and camera changes. Switches from one scene to a totally ohter scene every few seconds
They say it took too much work too put it into the game, but that's total bullshit. A 30 minute escape scene and setpiece in the game would've taken less effort than making a mulimillion dollar movie

Yeah average critics on RT means shit too.
"Insomnia is a bad name" - rotten.

Isn't the Niflheim invasion the one at the party where Noctis meets Stella and an airship crashes through a window? Not the Leviathan fight?

Remember to thank Tabata

Square's wanted to make movies forever now, they just came up with some excuses to make a movie. Not sure why they don't just leave the video game industry and make movies, really.

>do we spend another six years to develop that whole complete package
As opposed to the ten years it's already been in development?
> it really doesn’t affect it which one you get to see—from a story perspective whether you see it as part of the game or through the film
"Cinematic experience" non-game confirmed

You maybe right, btw.

The entire second half of the trailer isn't Insomnia.
It's actually Altissia, the fight against Leviathan.
Which is still in the game.

>the vocals that begin at 2:59
Goosebumps every single time.

This
youtube.com/watch?v=pTQ2C978xVc
It's not like the invasion would've been a huge segment. You fight your way out of the city. It's less effort than making a movie for 2-3 years and wasting millions of dollars on it
It's dumb excuse because Tabata is lazy and didn't know how to implement it

Why aren't more people making a fuss about the inciting incident of a goddamn 100 hour RPG not actually being in the game itself? MGSV pulled this shit as well and people were furious about it.

youtube.com/watch?v=uQ7MwTXYLpg

The combat atmosphere, and storytelling in from this one Versus 13 trailer looks better than anything I've seen from XV.

It would have taken longer than just 30 minutes because of what they wanted to put in there. There's soldier fights, story, Behemoth fight, magic seems to have already been available, all of which needs to be taught to the player in the first place, it would've been a section not unlike Midgard in FF7.

However Behemoth and Aranea fights were moved somewhere else in the game and they didn't really have anything finished other than the SAME FUCKING PLAZA we've seen since 2006 so it really isn't that big of a deal.

Because they don't know/don't listen. Most people still think all the shit they've seen in the trailers over the years is still part of the game.

Leviathan is still in, it wasn't in the movie. I think they put those two things together to make it seem even more exciting than it already was. Maybe they will have some other army fighting Leviathan alongside

And this is why I don't follow news of a game until it's nearing its release date anymore. I've seen way too many games that sounded great, but ended up completely different, or were canned.

Well, Square most likely told Nomura/Tabata to change a lot of things when it became a mainline title to appeal to a wider audience

Lets hope they get a rude awakening. I'm tired of Japs spending 5+ years on a game only to shit out a finished product that's not even goddamn complete. At least Kingdom Hearts 3 has Disney on board making sure their brand isn't tarnished.

That's actually the reason why i follow games so closely. So i will always know aht could've benn
I don't care if i had to wait anohter 5 years for Nomuras game

>It's not like the invasion would've been a huge segment.
It was probably gonna be longer than what was shown in the Versus trailers and since they probably added even more things to it in XV I guess they decided it would take too long to add all of that in. Plus going from the invasion to Noctis and his friends on a road trip would be pretty weird pacing.

Because it's not the inciting incident. When the game begins, invasion hasn't even happened. Noctis is sent with his entourage to meet up with Luna for the arranged wedding. Presumably Regis new the Empire was up to no good, and the next night they break the agreement and go all in. This is supposed to be a source of shock and confusion to Noctis in the current version of the storyline, and it wouldn't have been if he was there, messing up soldiers himself.

It doesn't even fit the narrative very much anymore for him to be there swinging swords.

At this point it isn't
Back then and in V13 it was

But i can't change anything about it anyway. I t probably won't be a bad game either, but i'm too biased at this point
Anyone who hasn't been followeing this game for years won't give a shit and that's what Square mosly cares about.
At this point i just feel nothing for the game anymore, but the fact that it's still XV with the same characters always leaves a bitter taste

Then what is the inciting incident? If you want to tell a good story then you need to create that emotional crux that drives the player forward. You're saying it's a source of shock and confusion to Noctis so surely the invasion is the inciting incident?

Imagine if Ground Zeroes didn't exist and MGSV began with Big Boss going to his arranged marriage with Kaz then suddenly he gets a letter saying "oh btw Mother Base was destroyed."

That's fucking terrible storytelling.

This music, omagawd

How is possible that an offscreen pic of FF XIII look way better than the official pic of the so call master version of XV?

You're really think people THAT stupid? I Guess not.

That trailer has combined footage of Versus movies that never existed in the game form, Insomnia palace square gameplay tests, Altissia Leviathan setpiece and some new cinematics.

The dialogue is presumably all madeup for the trailer. Actually not presumably, they said as much at some point.

The worst part about watching this old trailer is I have no idea what's even left of the game in it's current state.

Are those villains still relevant? Is the goal still to even steal the crystal?

All they ever show is this fucking car shit. I don't care about the car man.

Graphic wise: XII > XV

But user Tabata watched Stand by Me and really, really liked it so therefore all you get is comfy car journey now.

...

Everything is relevant. They probably change all these scenes, i mean downgrade, but it still in the game. All charachters too.

yeah so true

> XII

*XIII

All those characters are still in (the Niflheim guys and Genitalia).

How relevant they are and what role (if it's not the same), I don't know.

is that car ride where noct is sad still in it?

Nomura takes forever to finish games, but mostly because Square makes him the director or character designer or monster designer of every fucking game.
He great at turning ideas and concepts into gameplay and always worked closely together with the dev team and even Shimomura. If Square would just let him make one fucking game at a time maybe he would've actualyl released V13 or his XV vision.

Tabata isn't exactly a bad director, he has nice ideas but horrible execution and with FFXV he tries to appel to the western audiences way too much.
Huge ass open world for no reason, casualized combat that is too complex and too simple at the same time, generic stereotype personalities and one he made he UI worse literally every year it was shown.
He's just not made for mainline FF games. In the end Square shot themself in the foot. And when i finally thought Nomura could work full time on KH3 they also make him the director of 7R
V13/XV should've always stayed a spinoff and in 2013 they should've cancelled it, would've taken less effort and money to just make a whole new XV that has nothing to do with Nomuras work

yeah :(

youtube.com/watch?v=YiIx9VJWSl8 This one?
Pretty much everything up until and from the invasion isn't in the game anymore

If you see Insomnia looking like Tokyo, it's Visual Works CG from 2006-2010 and is gone. They redesigned Insomnia because of the alleged negative feedback from Japanese audiences.

>Hey let's draw up a bunch of CG movies to hype up the gamers!
>But how are we gonna make all those scenes into a videogame?
>DOESN'T MATTER

Say what you will, at least Tabata Fantasy XV is actually coming out, so we can move on.

Nomura is a faggot that should be banned from touching any games. He's responsible for the shitty state modern Square is in.

Still the best trailer.

youtube.com/watch?v=YiIx9VJWSl8

How so?

>cuts cool ass fucking intro that serves as a tutorial in favor of them pushing a broken down car while meh tier music plays

>He's responsible for the shitty state modern Square is in

What? He's the only person pushing out any decent games at SE.

it really has eversything: setpeaes, explosions, wildlife fields, coll music

Your tutorial is now a scorpion fetch quest
Enjoy Tabatas amazing vision

Except for a game.

>because of the alleged negative feedback from Japanese audiences.
What?

The biggest problem Tabata made is to make it full open world while not even knowing how to handle it
The dev team told him that the engine is not made for open world on consoles, but he didn't listen and he doesn't know how to design a ood open world either
Now you have huge empty fields with nothing but fetch quests because otherwise noone would bother to explore it
I highly doubt V13 was every suposed to be this big. A Dragon's Dogma sized map with tons of variety and good NPC specific quests would've been miles better, but he just wants to appel to western audiences as hard as possible
I don't even dislike him, but he's a retard that can't think for himself

I'd rather know then go in expecting gory and be disappointed.

I am still getting this game as I have waited to long for it not to buy it and save judgement for release
