I love people completely misunderstand the problem that is piracy.

"Stopping" piracy is never going to happen, and companies that try to will always fail. What you need to do is strive to do what steam once did: Provide a better service than the pirates can. Now, that service is kinda going to shit as valve expands and fails to scale their customer service properly, but that's beside the point.

If you children are going to try and talk about complex issues like piracy how about you do some research, listen to experts, read some articles.

Denuvo isn't based on logic, it's based on corporate fear mongering and share holders being conned into the belief that they can stop piracy by crafty scam artists

No one is losing money but the developers who buy into it, so let them lose money. The sooner they realize that Denuvo does nothing but cost them money, the sooner we can move on from this nonsense

The problem is that the suits still don't understand that MORE DRM = MORE PIRACY.

If you're going to fuck over your customers, they're not going to want to give you money. DRM does not hurt pirates, it only hurts customers.

It's just so frustrating because piracy is one of the areas where there IS a real discussion to be had, but the number of fucking children and shills who come out in force anytime you try to have it makes it completely pointless to try.

What I don't understand is why big corporations still try to justify using DRM, when now we actually have a legitimate example in GoG and the Witcher series that you really don't need fucking DRM to sell well and be successful

There's a reason the companies that don't worry about DRM or Piracy are PRIVATE companies.

One day, the board may realize that the reason they're not selling well is because the games are shit, and not because of pirates, but that won't happen soon.

So basically, the problem is that publicly traded companies don't give a fuck about their consumers, they only give a fuck about their stock price.

Of course, this is true of all media production companies that are public, the movie industry has been producing nothing but shit for a long time because it makes money, not because the movies are good and anyone wants to make them.

I like denuvo too. I don't mind that pirates have to wait 6 months to a year. As long as the initial window is secure they can pirate it when the game is worth scraps

No, but they give a fuck about sales, and my point was that one day they'll realize they can't keep blaming pirates for their lack of said sales.

Right now pirates are a scapegoat for the studios, they blame them for their under performance, when in reality, their lack of effort in making good games is to blame.

Denuvo doesn't increase sales based on the fact that no Denuvo game has had sales that weren't the average amount a PC game sales.
In fact, games like Homefront 2 and Far Cry Primal were flops.
