You playing trilogy version or GC?

Trilogy the fight was made a million times easier thanks to the spring ball addition. GC you'll have to git gud and master timings.

GC. The first time it caught me by surprise, but I'll probably be able to get him next time around.

Man it's been ages since I played the GC version of Prime 2. I ought to do another run through now that I finished AM2R.

...

...

We tubes thread now

>Tubes & Metroids

Where is that Prime 3 varia figma
H

R
E

It's been months! Lets see a prototype, anything!

>sequence break prime 2
>get early power bomb
>nuke spider gaurdian
>game can't register it hitting the electrical beams to progress in the fight
>unable to get spiderball
>stuck in the arena until you reset

fug

>Super metroid with a keyboard
>Super shit controls because its Super metroid on a keyboard
>made it far into the giant parasite that slows you down and then grabs you

How do I beat this nigga?

buy a cheap buffalo snes usb gamepad

>buying anything
>In a third world country

Do you know how many luggages I've stolen at airports to find a computer?

> giant parasite that slows you down and then grabs you

If you're talking about the Maridia boss, destroy one of the cannons on the wall, let him grab you and then grapple the electric current.

Also, stop playing Metroid with a keyboard.

play it on a gamepad user.

Anyone got Fed Force? I wanna do some co op missions

Man, AM2R in hard mode is kicking my fucking ass to the fucking curb. Good fucking lord the omega metroids are insane.

>find out gamepad is toast as I'm about to play AM2R
>fuck it I'll just use KB
>Hard mode fuck yeah

Mistakes were made.

Depends on what you're playing it in. GC version, yeah, probably. Trilogy version, Spring Ball makes that fight a joke.

>KB
>Hard mode
Literally how.
Also if there's one thing I love about this hard mode run, it's that I'm so desperate for upgrades that I just look through EVERYWHERE to get all the missile packs and shit. Also, it really teaches you how to use all your moves well. God bless the moonwalk.

I've played a lot of Metroid. It still took me almost 7 hours and I cheesed every Omega fight and had to save constantly.

Fuck Torizo

Omega fights are the fucking worst. The only way to realistically beat it is cheese the fight by hiding in the tunnel and popping back out to spray a few missiles. 40 missiles is fucking insane with that super tiny ass hitbox.

You get Ice Beam by the time you fight them, why not have it play like fusion where it's like a tug of war?

Torizo didn't give me as much trouble as the other nigger, the fucking armadillo cunt. It took me so long to not get rolled over by him. Took me a lot longer to kill him than Torizo.

You get the ice beam then? I only just got the plasma beam and had to fight that giant spinning wheel boss thing.

You've got quite a bit left, but yeah you'll get it soon.

So anyone here play Federation Force? How is it?

Should I beat Metroid 2 before AM2R or is AM2R that good that it makes a dated game not worth playing?

I had fun with it, but it can get annoying if you are paired with shitters on the later missions.

I just beat prime 2 trilogy version the other day and had no idea you get the spring ball. Apparently you have it the whole time. I spent the last part of the game wondering when I'd get it too...

I thought the spider guardian was one of the more enjoyable bosses though because I didn't have to fight with the wii sensor.

I can't believe I never tried to jump once.

You should try playing M2 for a bit to see how fucking dated and shit it is compared to AM2R, if you want, but no it's definitely not mandatory. AM2R is a drastic improvement in every way possible.

its ok to pretend Metroid 2 does not exist in this instance.

I honestly don't think you should put yourself through playing Metroid 2 if you don't want to. It's nice when you have played it because you get to catch quite a few things that were carried over from that game to the remake (especially on level design), but other than that, nah.

Metroid 2 aged like milk. It's part of the reason why a Metroid 2 remake was so wanted by the Metroid fanbase.

>work to get 100% in Super Metroid
>end up getting the visor ending

Goddamnit.

I'd say it's worth a playthrough if you want to see it for yourself, but AM2R improved on everything and added some good new stuff on top of it, so you won't be missing out if you don't.

I played SM on a keyboard and it was just fine, just reconfigure the controls so everything's comfortable to reach.

ur2slow

I live in a third world shithole too, but that's no excuse to be a filthy scumbag

>you get to catch quite a few things that were carried over from that game to the remake
Just wanted to expand a little bit more onto this. For instance, Metroid 2 has an area which has two save points really close to each other for seemingly no reason. AM2R takes that and makes one of those save points (in fact, the one you come by first when first exploring the area) be destroyed, making you have to look for the other one a bit further, and by that time you may already be desperate for a save.

I thought that alone was an extremely nice touch by the guy who made AM2R. It's the little things, really.

It looks like I won't be playing Metroid 2.

Yeah, it was around 7 hours.

> It's the little things, really.

The game is so full of stuff like this, right up to the end. The man loves Metroid for sure. I wonder how he feels about FF.

>Ice Titan mission
>Partners spend the entire mission trying to kill the monsters and successfully do so with one
they just dont teach kids how to read in schools

Get a Wii Pro Controller, get an adapter. It's the very best controller for ninrtendo games since it's D-pad wasn't made by autistic quadriplegics with downsyndrome.

I would love to see a Final Fight remake.

Considering he was sucking Nintendo's dick after they DMCA'd him he probably preordered it

Nintendo had the cross shaped dpad patent till some time ago. They still make the best controllers for 2d games.

>fuck Torizo

You can't lie to me and say that the phase 2 reveal wasn't the best fucking moment in the game. If AM2R did one thing right it was having some seriously fucking dope boss fights.

Still a bitch on Hard mode, Jesus Christ

What did you expect him to do? He has to save face so he at least looks like he understands why Nintendo did it so he avoids the possibility of getting hit hard as much as he can. A CnD of the game is a real possibility and Nintendo could do it any minute, especially if the guy were to publicly criticize Nintendo about a DMCA. They wouldn't take that shit to the face.

>Fighting Torizo with two energy tanks
BRUTAL

I think I have 4 myself, and even I have not made it past his fight on Hard. Admittedly, I only tried a couple of times, but still, fuck.

Eh, it was more like "they're just protecting their IP, don't hate them". Notice how he told people to buy Metroid 2 in the Eshop instead of Federation Force though.

My fingers still hurt from mashing the space jump button and firing missiles.

AIR TO AIR COMBAT

that confused me, that game sucks. Fed Force ain't Metroid so I can see why he wouldn't recommend that, but man at least tell people to buy a GOOD Metroid game.

>It's another "romhack forces you to go through heated areas without the varia" episode

...

AM2R is great but I would not recommend it as an first Metroid game. The game assumes you know how 2D Metroid works and the Torizo fight is probably the most "fuck you" example of this.

Anyone else always felt that Samus' arm cannon in every game looks disproportionately small to how you'd expect it to be in a power suit? I think only the Prime games have made me feel like the arm cannon looks the right size.

Well this doesn't surprise me, the proportions for that have been off since Other M. Both Samus in ZS and in the Varia suit have completely different proportions when stacked up on top of each other.

youtube.com/watch?v=GzuTvthnrE4

My jam. Metroid 2 is one of those games where I look back and say "Wait, how the fuck did I beat that as a kid?". Same tier as Jet Force Gemini.

>Still a bitch on Hard mode, Jesus Christ
It's an homage to Other M :^)

...

Meant to quote
>>It's another "romhack forces you to go through heated areas without the varia" episode

I always thought the morph ball looked cozy
Like, if I could I would turn into a morph ball and roll to work

you should try and hit their hidden weak point that opens up on their back when they jump, it does like triple damage and they can be taken out in 4 precise super missiles because they're easier than zetas that way.

Torizo wasn't even that bad, honestly. Neither was the armadillo fuck hiding in the statue like a bitch.
BUT THE TESTER?

THE TESTER IS GONNA FUCK YOUR SHIT.

BITCH NIGGA WILL SPEND THE ENTIRE FUCKING FIGHT IN THE TOP OF THE ROOM FILLING THE AREA WITH PROJECTILES.

YOU WANT TO STAND ON THAT PLATFORM TO SHOOT IT? YOU GET ONE SECOND.

GOT KNOCKED DOWN? MIGHT AS WELL RELOAD BECAUSE YOU SURE AS FUCK AREN'T GETTING BACK UP THERE.

Overall, I'm enjoying AM2R. Anyone got a strat for Omega Metroids?
hardmode + keyboard is suffering

...

I see you don't have max power bombs.

>those pauldrons

Fucking heresy

>since Other M

...

...

Her fucking fist is the same size as the width of the arm cannon.

This is exactly the shit I'm talking about. Prime had that thing look huge, and natural because of it. Like a human hand could be there, coupled with whatever makes the arm cannon have the firepower it has. This doesn't.

Why didn't anyone tell me i could jump with the Wiimote
I literally only found out in a spazz attack

Did you literally never play Corruption?

I also had a lot more trouble with the that thing than torizo. The armadillo did take me a couple tries though.

but seriously, where the fuck do i go now that i got the screw attack? i think i need the ice beam next even though i can get out of this area with the teleporters if i need to. should i leave via teleporters or keep looking?

Not until finishing echos no
I thought you had to play them in order

The only boss remotely hard in AM2R was Torizo, its second form caught me completely by surprise.

The Tester is arguably the most funny fight, metroid were ok but zetas were a little annoying

Keep looking. But if you're smart you'd do a little backtracking and see if you can pick up a few missables. It makes a huge difference since you can get several power bomb charges right now.

You get Gravity Suit, Screw Attack, and Ice Beam in that area, so don't leave until you have it.

Got it. Since that portion more or less ended with the transport tubes I wasn't sure if the game was hinting that I needed to leave the area through those to get the ice beam. Thanks.

[spoilerYou can't clear those bubbles without the ice beam, which means you can't leave that area and try to get a few more pickups. The tubes are there so you don't get fucked for not being a completionist.[/spoiler]

Which upgrades in AM2R are skippable? I know Plasma Beam is. I heard power bombs were too.

All the suits, all the beams except ice, spiderball, spring ball, high jump boots, space jump, and power bombs. I think that's everything, along with any expansions outside of the first pack of supers.

wait, space jump and the gravity suit are skippable?

I've never beaten M2 but this song is so fucking good. I really, really want it to come back and be remixed in a future Metroid game.

youtube.com/watch?v=nh6UjsaEARs

The Metroid Metal cover of it is fucking boss.

>space jump
Walljumping, bombjumping, and shinesparking gives you all the aerial mobility you need.
>gravity suit
There's an alternate path to the ice beam that only requires super missiles.

How do you skip spiderball? I thought there were some morph ball tunnels to get to metroids that require cieling clinging.

There's a tunnel of crumbling blocks you have to get past in area 3, but you can just unmorph and the blocks won't be able to reform above you

If you're still here, what I usually do for OM is this:

>moonwalk, jump when they do their charge attack while still moon walking
(Instead of spinning you'll just straight up hop in the air)
>pepper with missiles and finish with super

Good luck!

I kept getting bodied by that one fucker near the left-side of the tower. He kept smacking me out of the goddamn room.

As the risk of ruining the thread, what did you guys think of the secret ending to Federation Force? youtube.com/watch?v=-goCv7zyBWU

Why is Sylux so popular? This is the second time it's been teased for a sequel, and it's pretty much everyone's favorite hunter from Hunters. It's even my favorite hunter from Hunters and I have no idea why.

For Omegas, once you get the timing down they are trivial.

When they face you, jump then immediately fire one super-missile. It is much easier to fire missile on the way up than it is to shoot as you fall back towards the ground.

There should be about a tenth of a second pause between jump and shoot.

It gave me legitimate hope that there is a new prime in development

I think he/she just has a cool design.

Now I never played Hunters (I know) but I really wish they'd give her a better rival. Someone with more personality and more history with Samus, and with greater presence.

Lockjaw was the most fun alt form

>let him grab you and then grapple the electric current

WHAT THE FUCK?!. CAN YOU DO THAT?!

The opportunity to scan for this is diabolical.

>AIR TO AIR COMBAT
Man, that fight was fucking awesome. My favorite boss

Part of what gives Sylux some promise is that his ship and tech in general are stolen Federation stuff.

Why is AM2R called Another Metroid 2 remake? What's the original remake?

I always preferred Weavel. If his ability to turn his legs into turrets while he goes predator mode was a class in a team based FPS, I'd totally play it.

When it first began development a lot of other people were trying (and failing) at making such a remake.

>Also, stop playing Metroid with a keyboard.
Fuck you, I'll play Metroid with whatever the fuck I want. Literally nothing wrong with using a keyboard.

It's called that because ten years ago there were several attempts to remake Metroid 2 in one way or another. Not one of them was completed.
