Xbox had the best hardware, controller, online, and exclusives. But PS2 won the gen by having the best third party games. Quality hardware, online and software don't matter. This is the lesson Sony knew from the beginning. Nintendo and Xbox keep failing because they focus on quality. Sony knows quality doesn't matter. Sony tries to have the lowest quality and that's why they win.

Dude, Halo 1 and 2 are already on PC. People care about the rest of the exclusives so little there's not even an emulator for it.

It had too many low-quality games for too long in its lifespan, but if you were to get one and stock up on games now then yes.

PS2 in comparison also had shitty early games, but that quality shot up really fast.

Anyone have any third party controller suggestions that are good for the emulators on this shitbox?

Multiplat were generally under-optimized as they were almost all PS2 lead, hence the power was not seen often. Original controller sucked, though the S was the template for all competent modern controllers. The viable roots of console online gaming started here---for better or worse. Game library was solid, Microsoft really got their 1st party effort in line towards the end of the console's life. Steel battalion is still a life affirming experience.

7.5/10 console. I got it really late--like the last Summer before 360's launch. I'd still put PS2 in front of Microsoft's debut in terms of cultural impact to gaming, DVD media and the mainstream culture in general, but objectively a close second.

That's not the reason---even the fuckin' 3DO has a viable emulator. It is the architecture but more so the lack of documentation--leaked or otherwise--that prevents emulation

Damn shame, once the imaginary emulator went through a few months-to-years of refinement, playing JSRF at 1440p sounds like nirvana.

PS2 faggot here, but before I had my first(and only) PS2 I played on one of my uncle's Xbox and another uncle's Gamecube. I have to say, that no matter how much fucking fun I had with my PS3, nothing comes close to the entertainment of the PS2, XBox, and game cube. Holy shit where those shitboxes fun. And the fact that my OG fat PS2 still plays ace combat 4 to this day while I had to send my ps3 for repairs this month proves that the 6 gen consoles where the best gen consoles. Memory full? Just slap in another memory card and you are set baby! You can argue all you want about which one was better, for me, all 3 of them where the best!

The Xbox was a great console, too bad Microsoft killed it so early.
