I rebeat the first stage with boat demon and just completed the sunset are with the 2 red tongue demons as the final bosses.
I have to admit those bosses would have been much harder to fight in the alpha, but the new stamina system lets you run around damn near endlessly while they whiff attacks

What beautiful morning desu.” William-sama zoned out looking at the beach from his room. William-sama went upstairs to greet the couple. “Ah, ohayou Muneshige-san and Ginchiyo-chan”. The couple replied him with a warm smile and proceed with their breakfast while inviting William-sama. Although William-sama can not understand them, he easily could read what the couple is trying to say, he is born with this talent. “Arigato.” William-sama said, he then went downstairs to take a few things. He took a bokken and a katana, the katana is hidden in his kimono and the bokken is on his obi, this is to avoid his weapons breaking as he was warned last time by conquerors. William-sama will be going on his usual morning walk to sightseeing the glorious nihonjin country. “Itadakimasu Muneshige-san and Ginchiyo-chan”, they gave him a mixed smile and a slightly confused expression.

William-sama widened his eyes and look at the kodama and yelled every Japanese word he knew “Arigatou gozaimasu! Gomenasai! Run away minna-san!” The kodama ran away, the oni is coming, it was at least 100ft tall. William-sama was ashamed with himself, he should have anticipated this, if he did the kodama would be far away by now. “sumimasen mina-san, it was my mistake”, he took his hidden katana and dual wield with the bokken and katana. As he ran towards the yokai trying to stop it, he uttered his last words. “Arigatou Tachibanas. For taking care of me” The onryoki strikes. A shout is heard; “I'm a Conqueror!”.
Japanese game material call him English, the developers probably gave Will an Irish deity given a lack of direct English analogues.
Not to mention Ireland was pretty much in England's grasp at the time.
Finally beat Muneshige. Feeling unstoppable.
I did a crude translation of the chap 1 of the manga.
From trailers it does seem like manga and game tell more or less the same story, if thats the case then William is in Japan to rescue celtic spirit from evil bald guy

I didn't play the old demo, so I'm not sure about something. I just beat the Yoki thing in that one house and got the key that unlocks the door behind the house. I THINK I've been everywhere else, but I don't want to progress until I've found everything in the first area.
I found a second shrine and the shortcut back to the first one. I've looked around but I haven't really found much else.
Is there anything big I missed in the first area?

I think the biggest reason why the second boss is so hard is because she's too fast for the games slow and clunky controls. Also when Willem gets hit by any of her attacks his weapon gets auto sheathed even if he should still be blocking. Her air scream attack has so much birth that even he he dodges it he might still take damage.
The boss is hard for all the wrong reasons. She has an extremely limited moveset and most of her attacks can be easily blocked. At least half of my deaths on that boss were from seeing an attack coming but the game didn't respond fast enough so he died anyway.
Make sure you're not wearing gear that isn't greyed out. Use hit and run tactics. Don't get greedy. A heavy attack then double dash back. Repeat until dead.
I love how the guy does fake attacks. Reminds me of Mr. Sandman in Punch-Out. Just like Mr. Sandman, just stab it in its big dumb face.
Just sank 5+ hours into this in one sitting, now up to last boss. What a great game

Block. That's basically how to don't die, just block all her attacks. Even her kunai throws can be blocked. The only attack that can't be blocked are her screeches.

If you're talking about normal difficulty, I disagree. But if you're talking about twilight, it's completely true. Adds make the whole fight retarded because of the clunky targeting controls.

Its easier to beat the first stage than it was in the alpha because stamina usage isnt as strict.
Yeah, but I don't have a ki-based damage build so stun locking her isn't really an option. She has almost no health, especially in comparison to the boat boss, but like I said, the game tends ot be unresponvise and slow so Willem doesn't respond fast enough in certain situations so he just ends up dying.

If I block a full combo or even just the spin, I am completly drained, stagger, and then she goes for the grab which is unavoidable then.

The only attacks that need to be dodges are her grab and her scream. She doesn't ever grab too often and it's pretty easy to dodge.
