I'm trying to remember a video game that looked sort of like this. It was 2D and it looked something like the first prince of persia game. I can't really put my finger on it all I know is it looked kind of similiar but had an art style that uses sprites made from 3d rendered images. Any idea what it might be?
I'm trying to remember a video game that looked sort of like this...
Heart of Darkness?
>Heart of Darkness
it's not, sorry, but it looks really cool. i'm mainly looking for visual inspiration for something I want to make.
Pitfall
possibly Blackthorne
I don't suppose it's Prince of Persia: the Shadow and the Flame? (the original one)
Another World or Out of this World in America
it's entirely 2d, not really what i'm looking for.
I remember this game having 3d rendered images as sprites, similiarly to the sims - if that makes any sense at all.
it may have been an old DOS game
Flashback
Abe's Oddysee
there's an entire genre of this kind of game.
Flashback?
the 32x version uses prerendered 3d sprites
here's some other candidates:
Another World
Flashback
Don't think so m8, it would look more like the one i posted in the OP
another world looks pretty great! that's the kind of thing i'm looking for
flashback looks great too! this is the kind of thing i'm looking for.
would you guys play a visual novel with this kind of style?
>Flashback
Not OP but I've been trying to remember the name of this game for months, thanks.
>Play
>Visual Novel
choose one
What's the one with movie monsters? That Arino played? It's really similar.
Hunter Hunted?
Remember anything about what you were doing in the game, any weapons, enemies, backgrounds, anything?
it would have side scrolling and you could pick the charachters you would want to talk to and spend time with
pretty sure it's this, the 32x version of prince of persia. thanks user, i needed these games for visual inspo to see how to do it right
I have no idea what he played, but there's one on SNES called Nosferatu
Cinematic platformers usually use rotoscoped stuff.
that could be a good technique to use
thanks user
This is something a lot of retro/pixel art games are completely overlooking. A huge amount of effort went into rotoscoped animations in these sort of games
I agree. Since the game I'm trying to make is mostly about the story and atmosphere a lot more effort should go into the animations. I'll try to find the best method that might look like that.
Would you like to hear more about the game? I posted what I was trying to make in the video game dev general and it motivated me to try and prototype it
May as well, user.
I don't see Bermuda Syndrome mentioned. It looks and feels much like Another World/Flashback.
Is it just me or does it look like the prince of persia is administering buttsecks to that child there?
The game would be a visual novel with mostly side scrolling but would go into different camera angles in key scenes. The story and dialogue would be told via text boxes.
In the first you meet three girls and all three of them are going to a different location. At the end of chapter one you choose which story to pursue and which girl you will join on her trip. Then it just plays out like a comfy visual novel story. Nothing too complicated.
Thank you user that looks perfect
Depends, is it porn?
No, sorry, i didnt have that in mind
Flashback?
Out of This World?
Also, Nosferatu for SNES
