No final boss
How did this game end? I totally forgot.
Developed for consoles first, then ported to PC.
Simplified suit powers, made it really linear, a lot more scripted, basically no more shacks and the bulk of other physics related things to play with, basically stripped the stealth approach, no chickens (and other animals) to throw at people, tiny maps, probably a lot of other stuff.
Pretty good movie though.
Pretty much that. You could also say it scaled back the options you had to fight and complete objectives from the first game.
It's still a leagues beyond the average linear scripted FPS in playstyle choice. (Every CoD that comes out seems to move closer to becoming Crysis 2)
I liked it. Levels were really nicely designed and the gameplay itself was solid.
Goop dost
Literally nothing. One of the best modern shooters
It believed it's own hype
Too many bugs.
No clear sense of objective or story.
No alien unit variety, fighting aliens got old very fast.
C1 > C:Warhead > C3 > C2
Also what is Crytek even up to these days?
>No sense of objective or story
But you're literally told in the first part of the game to locate the ayy base and blow it up.
This, enemies are perfectly accurate no matter the distance, you can't hide in foliage anymore, and they straight up shoot you through walls (or at least try to)
Trying to be greedy and making it for all platforms was its downfall
Also,
I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU CRYTEK POWER STRUGGLE WAS THE BEST MODE EVER YOUR FILTHY TURK ROACH EXECUTIVES WILL BURN IN HELL
bullshit
prophet literally just says "go to the next objective and find gould" then shoots himself
NANOSUIT HAS A NICE ASS
Power struggle was actually pretty awesome. With some more polish it could've honestly been something to beat Battlefield in my opinion but whatever. I guess it's hard to build a playerbase.
That's because at first you don't know what is going on and are being played by basically everyone you meet, did you even play it?
I liked it. A bit more Halo than the original Crysis but not totally in a bad way.
>you're literally told in the first part of the game to XXXXX
>That's because at first you don't know what is going on
????
>Latest projects
>Crytek is currently working on three free-to-play projects: Arena of Fate, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age (which will utilize the fourth generation of the CryEngine currently in development), and updates for the previously released game Warface. The company is also working on two virtual reality projects, namely The Climb for the Oculus Rift and Robinson: The Journey for PlayStation VR.
JUST
Actually the playerbase for Crysis Wars held on for like 5 years, and mods added more types of vehicles which was very fun
It's still weird how they aimed for greatness with the first one and the expansion then settled for corridors and mediocrity in the second.
Although with mods the second is still very replayable
Yeah they said quite a long time ago they would only do F2P now. Rest in RIP peaches.
I'm glad most of the engine people went to Star Citizen so they can at least try and do something innovative again.
You are a literal retard
I love how everyone suddenly stopped calling Crysis a tech demo and proclaimed it a good game some time after Crysis 2 came out.
If you're that guy and reading this: fuck you
Never called it a tech demo, you are a stealth baby with slow reflexes that figured 5 seconds of speed mode was too little so you never used it.
Also all crysis games are meant to be played exclusively on the highest difficulty, so that labels most of you haters as idiots not worth of note
>you are told to do OBJECTIVE in the beginning of the game
>no you aren't they only give you WAYPOINT
>well that's because you don't know what's going on
>okay but you still don't get OBJECTIVE at the start of the game
>you are a literal retard

Here's what I'm guessing what happens. They always used to be cool PC foremost devs, but they also take a lot of time to make them. Far Cry and Crysis were a fair bit apart but EA had them under contract for three Crysis titles so they pretty much had to. Probably under the time they were (pretty much forced) to work under EA the company probably deteriorated. Watch the Crysis making of sometime and you can notice how much the company changed.
One of the Yerli brothers note they don't make many games so when they do they want to make something exceptional to increase the company's reputation. RIP.
You upload your code or something into these devices after fighting a few waves of enemies, I think.
No. Your suit had a reversed code of a dna the ayys created to weaken the army and populace of Manhattan and then you nuke them with a virus nuke that cures everyone and melts the blobs away.
Crysis 2 is what happens when you take a game that valued player choice, player creativity, and the top-of-the-line technology, and capitalize and homogenize it for mainstream taste.
Crysis 2 is what happens when a company's pursuit of profit (in this case Crytek's) overrid their inherent passion for their craft.
Crysis 2 is a spit in the face of gaming and one of the worst sequels I have ever played, along with Guild Wars 2.
I was being ironic, but absolutely nobody thought Crysis had any value during its phase as a "benchmark"
autism, your brain is not working properly
>but absolutely nobody thought Crysis had any value during its phase as a "benchmark"
>thinking gaming journalism matters
I'm guessing you weren't around here during that time? Metacritic is not a substitute for the vox populi you shill.
Can you really not keep up with a chain of replies 6 links long?
Please use specific examples and tell me how that was not an accurate description of what happened.
Everything.
Instead of continuing where 1 left off they turned it into a linear piece of shit.
Everyone liked Crysis, kid. Just because you like to hate popular things doesn't mean that it's not one of the best shooters of all time.
No Nomad, just some shitty explanation as to what happened to him. Psycho was only in 3 because of fan service
I built my first rig for Crysis and played the betas. It was also pretty much the first time I cared enough to involve myself in community forums. When the game came out it was awesome, the interaction with the environments was great and you got to choose your own approach to some degree. Bullets were physicalised and the nanosuit does lots of subtle things people often miss, like reloading faster in speed mode or throwing stuff further and aiming better in strength. The vehicles like the helicopters have tiny weak spots so you can take them out if you're good enough even with just a pistol. The AI is incapable of seeing you through bushes and other stuff, while in like every other game they cheat. Moreover, most of the environments break and you could crash vehicles through them as a diversion.
tl;dr: Fuck you, it innovated lots and gave you a lot of tools to play with. Best FPS I played since FEAR.
>you shill
not the same guy dweeb, also no one is getting paid to advertise on this shithole
I love how a lot of people say that Crysis was just a tech demo. I don't know about you, but i loved it. The freedom it gives you is great. Has decent A.I. And has a good variety of weapons
Crysis is one my my favourite game franchises. Do you not know how to read? I'm talking about how other PC gamers viewed it in the years following its release.
Everybody was busy jerking off to CSS and CoD4 but I guess you were still an embryo around that time?
I agree with you
>Can only carry 2 weapons instead of 3
>Little exploration to dick around like Crysis 1 or Warhead
>Speed mode and strength mode get removed
>Poor AI
>Focus around ayyy which is the bad part in 1st game
>Less vehicles to dick around
>Can't choke enemies
>Less stealth option, too linear
>Fucking checkpoint only
Fucking truth. I pre-ordered Crysis 2 because I loved the original and Warhead, and was fully expecting to get my tits blown clean off with the best game ever. Instead we got a game that literally told you that one corridor lead to STEALTH and another corridor lead to ASSAULT. What the fuck.
You can choke hold enemies, the rest is correct
Also the animation for executing ayys from behind with a knife is godly, casually turning them around and sliding a knife trough the exposed throat
...
I don't recall you can choke them, you can only either kill them by sneaking behind to smash them with your fists or guns
Boring ass shit
It captures a really nice NYC vibe. Even if the gameplay is cod with nanosuit, the environment is worth seeing
Unskippable cutscenes
Shit story
Aliens were not fun to fight at all
Nah you can grab enemies and throw them just like the first game
strength mode was also changed to allow you to throw anything at full force just by holding throw and jump at full force by holding jump.
I honestly liked that change
For some reason I found Crysis 2 more fun. I have no idea why. I finished Crysis 1 two times, Crysis 2 three times.
youtube.com
>Far Cry, Crysis and Warhead are awesome
>Crysis 2 is shit
>Crysis 3 is ok
>Ryse is a shitty tech demo but at least it looks really good.
>Homefront: The Revolution is incredibly boring and is just a bland mix of Crysis and every Ubisoft open world game
>everything else is F2P garbage
Why did everything have to go wrong?
They got greedy, hence the move to consoles and F2P
Even Cryengine licensing was full greed mode
>no timesplitters FP sequel
>ywn get to split again
>For some reason I found Crysis 2 more fun. I have no idea why.
It's a weightier game. The armor mode makes you feel more like a walking tank due to lower movement speed. I think the guns handle in a more satisfying way than Crysis also.
Oh yeah the gunplay, that's what I found miles better than in Crysis 1. The guns in Crysis 1 were clunky as all fuck.
I tried to play the first game on Delta for native voices but the difficulty level of the bullshit AI made me give it up as soon as I found the aliens.
Crysis 2 handled powers much better than Crysis/Warhead.
Armor mode actually feels different, rather than just a Halo-style shield.
Power mode makes sense, combining fast running and high jumps.
Stealth is the same.
>Far Cry is shit
>Crysis is shit
>Crysis 2 is bland shit
>Crysis 3 is alright
Not trying to be contrarian, but I hate open world games, and Crysis 2 is just a bad game, and they fixed their mistakes in 3rd, which is the only one I had fun with
CryEngine is expensive as fuck to license.
Stupid move considering everyone already used Unreal and it was cheap as dirt and later FREE.
Also has problems in the netcoding, hence why Scam Citizen will take 2 more years to be playable. Basically, it has to be redone from scratch.
Which of those games do you think is open world
>tfw when youfinally git gud at Crysis and switch between powers seamlessly
>murdering the fuck out of everyone and feeling like a supersoldier
It's such a comfy game.
to a degree
The whole concept of Islands you can freely roam.
At the same time, Far Cry and Crysis was at their shittiest when they've taken that away for liear segents. And Crysis 2 is just those bad parts, but slightly fixed. Crysis 3 is well-balanced in that regard
