Post yfw you bought Starbound EA.

soo where is the porn?

...

As someone who pirated it to check it out and found a game like Terraria, only with a softer learning curve, what is wrong with Starbound?

Development drama aside, should I buy it? Keep in mind, I've only scratched the surface of Terraria and wasn't sold enough to tap into its content.

Wait for the dev to add everything back in after the 1.0 release then buy it

I pirated and kind of liked it.

It basically Terraria with a story. I don't have a problem with it, but then again I wasn't dumb enough to buy it EA.

The refund went through quickly

And less than a tenth of Terraria's content. But we've seen how easily people fall for the "INFINITE PLANETS XD" meme

Well, Terraria has been out for a very long time. It's like comparing a new MMO and WoW. WoW will always have more content.

I had a lot of fun playing the final build. The combat could've been a LOT better, but there were a lot of things to explode and mess around with, especially with the FrackinUniverse mod.

It does really well for creating emergent story.

The Matter Manipulator helps facilitate quick mining, building, and exploration, allowing players to quickly spring up shelters and bases or delve through underground. The method that planets and their creatures are generated in 1.0 keeps a nice sense of both variety and coherency that allows them to be distinct for players that explore them heavily and fresh for players that want to just grab some resources and run. With all the colonies, caverns, castles, villages, labs, and so on, players have a lot to associate with. Of course, the weather and sound direction also helps to heavily reinforce the atmosphere of the game.

All this helps towards creating an aforementioned emergent story. The people that get the most out of Starbound will be the ones who carve their own experience out of the pieces the game gives them. It's a real sandbox game and all things considered, it does well for populating its box with a lot of things for players to spend time with compared to others that tried to match the same premise.

But of course it's understandable if people didn't care for it. The game eventually delivered most, if not all, of what was promised, but it doesn't feel like three year's worth of work, especially with what the players know they've taken out and rearranged. If you're not in it for building your own story while exploring, then every planet, every item, and every character feels like a faceless mook, and the mooks with faces aren't all that great.

Still, it was enjoyable enough in the end. About as decent as any other game trying to chisel their facet into the genre. Anybody who liked it got a fun experience that's good for a few dozen hours at the least and anyone who didn't got their TORtanic and Floran tits to boot. It all ended up alright.

I just wish you could craft your own weapons how you like by searching for rare resources and substances found on dangerous planets instead of relying on random rng mob drops.
There's literally no reason to gather resources other than to build a new EPP upgrade that will allow you to survive higher tier planets, since you so easily can get the best weapons and armor from random mobs or convenient crates.

Avians.

nothing, they cut about 45% of content on release from beta

The music I guess.

Does it still has a retarded FPS drop on dungeons?
