Anyway the purge is one of those ideas that sounds fun on paper unless you think about it for more than 5 mins. So yeah a game based around that might be a short lived experience

Like, each scenario you get X dollars, pick a basic home, and have to spend dollars to buy upgrades / traps / defensive modules like window bars or bear traps or medkits or hiding spots or guns.

You get time to prep and then at the stroke of whatever the purge begins

You play co-op with up to 3 people in your 'family' and have to try to survive assaults

I wish VHS had a budget for especial effects. The thing was clearly made with the director's pocket change.

The sequel did a better job in that regard because the protagonists actually get stranded outside when all the shit is happening.

Some people say the "Purge" breaks down simply because most people are too nice to consider such acts of mayhem.
But think about how many crazy, opportunistic sociopaths live today that gladly step over their friends and family for wealth and power. The purge could work simply by forcing normal people to react violently to violent people and adapting to new extreme situations.

Of course... I could also say an entire day where people are allowed to destroy things would cause billions/trillions of dollars in property damage and long term economy losses and why the fuck would the rich ruling classes want that.
