Squad-based as opposed to team-based or individual
Fallen survivors turn into zombies
Objective A: Survive
Objective B: Fortify area as a safe zone

Dying Light

Yeah let's turn it into Zombie Panic on smaller scale that's very fucking original.

>Squad-based as opposed to team-based

the fuck does that even mean

It's a buzzword I threw lol xD I never even played any zombie game but I watched Pewdiepie play Minecraft if that counts :P.

Specifically, control an entire town of would-be survivors just as they're waking up to the infection. Like a strategy game, I guess. Issue orders that they may or may not obey based on their understanding/acceptance of the threat, camaraderie and general rationality.

Oh you mean like in Rebuild aka fucking flash game? Yeah that was done too.

I've been having a lot of fun with this one.

It's not mind blowing, but it's entertaining enough, especially since you can create all the characters.

release left 4 dead 3

>relase votekick simulator where survivors could have potentially infinite ammo

no L4D was cancer and posting random anime bitch doesn't make your post any less retarded

>pixel art
>le randumb atmosphere
>for money

seen better flash games

>i only played the games after left 4 dead 2 was free to play

spot the newfag

Revive Zombie Master.

The fuck time played has to do with shit community and how easy it is?

You play as the zombie against humanity.
Here's the kick: it's still a survival horror game

I don't give a fuck. I just love zombie games. DayZ was probably the best zombie experience I've ever had. Too bad it went to shit.

this

you just suck at l4d trust me

Dead riseing 4 Christmas time is kind of a step in the right direction.

>DR fan
>can't spell

checks out

>playing a multiplayer game years after is the same as playing it at release

I've bought games on sale and got kicked from matches. Doesn't make me bitch about the games community.

>DR fan
>too retarded to know what his own post was about

checks out

>repeating/looping the same shit

Yeah Dead Rising is great. I had a lot of fun with the first one.

4 looks good enough to get back into the series.

>DR fan
>is autistic
checks out

I cry because The Dead Linger is, well, dead. Not even lingering anymore. Shit had so much potential.

You stop making them all cooperative games and add compotent AI partners.

You stop being afraid to be creative with your zombies.

You stop shoehorning in survival mechanics unless you're going to do them competently.

You don't make the zombies dumb horde animals and make them feel actually dangerous. Firing round after round into a crowd of enemies is exhilarating the first few times, but after a while it loses the thrill.

Project Zomboid is pretty good.

Reduce the scope, keep your protagonist alone in a small, enclosed enviroment. Limit their ability to fight them.

your're still looping

Im sorry lil guy but, you cant fix stupid.

Squad based tactically game.

Play as a squad over the course of the outbreak trying to deal with shit. Basically Full Spectrum Warrior but with zombies.

Make them slow and dumb, but extremely dangerous if they actually get you.

Dead Rising had good zombies.

>Dead Rising zombies
>extremly dangerous

lmao

DayZ mod was probably the closest thing they've come to a perfect zombie game thus far.

Issues mostly were coming from the old engine and the pretty low zombie count. Fix the engine, glitches, expand the map for more exploration, and be able to have several thousand zombies in a city, along with herds and such, rework the zombies a little and you'd have the perfect zombie game. Honestly DayZ was like 85% of the way there, and the next closest thing would be only like 50%

Just stop fuckin' making them, at least for a few years.

I just can't stand this shit anymore and I'm baffled at how many people still eat it up. Zombie apocalypse games seem more played out than Tolkien-style high fantasy settings now.

make them a real threat like in dead rising 1 or no more room in hell

>Zombie apocalypse games seem more played out than Tolkien-style high fantasy settings now.

Nah, there's still like 10x the amount of Tolkien fantasy games for every zombie game, and it's literally never had any valleys. There's a dozen a year, every year, since the 80s.

dayz mod may have been a zombie game at first, but it quickly became
>pvp with basebuilding

did you play pic real?

>How do we fix zombie games?

Combine multiplayer zombie games with Metal Gear Solid 5 gameplay.

This is what I wanted and what I thought Operation Raccoon City was going to be before it came out.

...

Based Konami.

How could it possibly fail?!

Make them dating simulators.

Take State of Decay's group survival/resource management, give it Dying Light's movement and combat, throw in ZombiU's atmosphere, maybe toss some co-op into the mix, and WHAMMO, you got yourself some gold right there mate

What does Warhammer Online have to do with it?

Take The Last of Us
State of Decay
Fort Zombie
Sprinkle some Dead Rising weapon crafting
Some Dying Light parkour
Mixe then And you got the ultimate zombie game with emotion, story, solo survival, group survival, and base building

But zombie games are either to busy being clones or gimicks or doing a few great things but dont explore a open survival experience ...and those that are,are these bloody indie early access games that are never finished

>spaming left click
>combat

No

I automatically dismiss anything related to Resident Evil these days. Capcom doesn't know what to do with the brand.

Although I did get Revelations in a humble bundle so maybe I'll play that.

What would you recommend we toss in this potent brew, my friend?

Tank controls

Slow zombies

CONTAGIN is best zombie FPS on PC and it's using source engine

With Epoch/Overpoch mods, yeah it turned into shit, and unfortunately that's what all the other shit show zombie survival games based it on instead of the excellent vanilla.

All the basebuilding shit is cancer.

Only for a few hours, didn't enjoy it.

by the way is pic real any good?

>tank controls

only Sup Forumsermin too young to remember that reviewers and players alike always dissed tank controls in old survival horror games are retarded enough to propagate this meme

dont produce them

Slow zombies yes.

Tank controls, fuck no. Fuck right off with puzzle shit too.

>a dead, shit Zombie Panic ripoff

no thanks I'll just get Zombie Panic for free and play with the few guys who are still around

No. And I'm pretty sure it's multiplayer will be dead now anyway.

Make something that combines Xcom and grand strategy. Was never done before.

If I wanted a map simulator with zombies I would play Plague Inc.

I thought RE4/Dead Space did it well with the over the shoulder camera. Adds to the tension.

More focus on humans.

Kek, game?

How, it's another layer of separation that takes you out of it because it's no longer happening to you, it's happening to Leon or Issac.

That hardly counts. I want to play as humas. Doing politics and stuff at the begining and then start doing more desperate shit like setting up quarantine camps, executing infected regugees and so on as the infection spreads.

That actually sounds pretty good

Dead State. That guy is pretty much Sup Forums.

Do something new and interesting. Anyone remember Stubbs the zombie? How is it in an age of SO MANY fucking zombie games, there are none where you actually play as the zombies?

I'd be down with that.

Trying to handle the zombies and rioting civvies and mutineers would make it interesting

...

I really like Dying Light, but I hate how the zombies turn into bullet/smack sponges once you level up to a certain point. The devs should have relied on difficult and tense level design rather than artificial difficulty.

You can't fix the zombie genre, it's run its course. If you want a classic experience you play Resident Evil or Dead Rising, if you want a multiplayer experience you play Left 4 Dead, if you want a realistic experience you play Day-Z or its countless clones, and if you want some niche zombie experience you play a shitty indie game.

Nothing new can be made, there's only so much you can do with mindless zombies.

Best way to fix the genre is to stop making them for 5 years then let Valve make a new Left 4 Dead. L4D and L4D2 were both pretty fun and exciting in their multiplayer primes, a third game 3-5 years from now might make the genre feel more fresh.

Make lone zombies easy, mobs dangerous, customazible worlds(single player), better sneaking, weapons and crafting, stop trying to make crafting cars a thing, and try to make a really good to play survival mechanic, big maps maybe, that's it i think.

Pretty fun when you're playing humans vs humans vs zombies mode, but it needs more updates to keep it alive.

It makes me really angry. Why nobody tried to do anything like that? I read World war Z long time ago and this thing would make amazing game. There is so much potential.
Things like suppresing media to stop spread of panic, resourcess you were buying from other countries running out because they went to shit,... Fuck. Why is nobody making this. Instead we are getting metal gear survive.

By making the zombie apocalypse appealing for the same reason it became popular in the first place. It doesn't depend on who you are, just as long as you have the will to do it and act like it, you can survive.
Zombies aren't a great theme, when you should play a hero, who kills hordes of them left and right, but they can be, if you are a nobody.
Also the balance is important. A single zombie shouldn't be to big of a challenge, but in numbers they are strong and often it should be a better option to run than fight.

Personally my favorite Zombie game is DDA Cataclysm (as long as the option classic zombies is activated). You can kill a single zombie pretty easily, but if you aren't cautious you will be swarmed by them, so often it's wiser to make a quick grab-and-run to get goods than to kill every zombie in the town. On the other hand, if you are strong enough you can clean entire landscapes. That gives you some kind of goal for later on.

>if you want a realistic experience you play Day-Z or its countless clones

Most of the DayZ clones aren't close to realistic the way it was, H1Z1 for example was super casualized, poor medical system, ballistics are shit, survival elements are far easier to obtain, and I could go on.

Because in those games, you get invested in Leon/Issac. Just because "you" aren't the one getting attacked, doesn't mean you can't feel tension when the character you spent so much time with and got so far with is.

Any engaging survival horror game (that isn't an Amnesia/Outlast clone) is going to benefit from giving the player's character a name and personality. The game can then have a compelling narrative, and you care even more about what happens to the character because of that.

That's why I loved the old Resident Evil games, because I wanted to keep Leon, or Chris, or Jill alive to see what would happen next.

>fellow day z mod players

Anyone want to play on the ONE US server still up?

Someone should make a spiritual successor to Stubs the zombie.

It could be like Earth Defense Force but you play as the zombies conquering cites and towns.

>Left 4 Dead. L4D and L4D2 were both pretty fun and exciting
"no"

l4d and l4d2 are terrible and boring because it's a horde shooter with no good feeling guns and enemies that dont react to getting shot

it's the least satisfying game to play ever

>not given the option to agree with the guy
Always found that shit annoying. Last time I was pissed off about that was when pillars of eternity didn't give me the option to say "so what" when someone in the game universe made an incestuous baby

I might, unsure, last time I tried it was bait just to get some easy kills.

We could start by removing zombies.

Pic related is thee best zombie game iv ever played, if you can look past the graphics its the perfect zombie RPG and i think i know why. All the shit cash cow zombie games out there fuck up on 2 things.

1. They have no dept. They fucking fail telling at telling a story and put 5 minute thoughts in describing daily struggles it takes surviving. All dialog is "I used to be a teacher, i never thought i'd witness the dead raising." Its all rehearsed shit we've all heard a thousand times. In a shit zombie game the raiders are just blood thirsty manics that finally get to rape and murder with no repercussions, in a good zombie game the raiders are normal people who tried dialog but always have been met with gunshots and after being killed, mugged, kidnapped they assume the entire world is hostile. The struggle to survive is the most important part of a zombie game and if you cant engage the player into that struggle you already failed as a game.

2. They make zombies the main focus when they should be nothing but background noise. Zombie games are about the power fantasy of surviving, modern society as we know it completely crumbling back into hunter gather tribes with different flavored warlord trying to improve their own conditions, desperate lone wolves unable to focus on anything but survival, and people chasing the past. Its not about the zombies themselves, but faggots can't comprehend this and think people like zombies because they're zombies. That's why we see stupid shit like people adding zombies in games "just to have them" and making zombies cutesy and adorable.

The 2 games that highlight these fuck ups perfectly are the Walking Dead games, the Telltale games vs Survival Instinct and the mobile shit. The telltale walking dead games has dept and the zombies are background while in the walking dead survival instinct game the opposite is true and its just a fucking hack and slash zombie game that focuses on zombies.

stop making running zombies

bump up their numbers exponentially

Only if you really get a decent narrative going, which you're going to have issues with by making it someone else's story instead of having players create their own in a zombie apocalypse setting.

I'm not saying that Dead Space and Resident Evil don't work, they're great games, but something like DayZ is definetly far closer to the zombie experience than either of them.

im going to make an hl2 headcrab zombie survival mod and you cant stop me

Get this.

There are zombies but...they are alien zombies!

Bam! GOTY.

Are there any others zombie rpgs like Dead State or is it a one of a kind?

It's kinda clunky, but I had fun playing it. Make sure you're playing with friends or at least a group of people who are not retarded. I bought it on early access and I have no regrets.

>singleplayer
>high difficulty
>require making good use of resources

Dead space did it

They really have to have more zombie games where the zombies actually act and behave on Romero rules. Only game I know that really tries it is NMRIH.

Most games will let you hit anywhere to kill, go with running 28 days later zombies, and have nothing about the actual infection mechanics. Like even if you're torn to shreds, if you heal up it's nothing. There's nothing about being infected or corpses turning into zombies, ect.

How about let them die?

Just play Project Zomboid, it's the best zombie game out there

Project Zomboid is pretty good but I feel like it still needs a ton more updates. I also think it needs more balance. Things are either too easy or too hard.

>play dead state
>"hey dude could you get some hot sauce? oh and we're out of toilet paper"
>"waaa waa waa I don't like these books!"
>"ayo whudup dawg, can we hav sum enturtaynment around here? sum dee-vee-dees or sumtin yo"

I JUST SLAUGHTERED A CAMP FULL OF PEOPLE FOR CAN OF BEANS, DO I LOOK LIKE I GIVE ONE FUCK ABOUT SOME FUCKING HOT SAUCE OR BOOKS?! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

State of Decay with a bit more polish and a higher budget would be 10/10.
