X2 when not underclocked already rivals Neo, it's like 95% as strong as a Neo.

An overclocked X2 would be Neo tier.

But really I'm gonna use it as a handheld 90% of the time, so it underclocked to PS4 power is more than fine by me.

What? The X1 is still more powerful than the Wii U, and I STILL think that's optimistic. For instance, the NX could be a 540p display which would not require as much power to run BOTW as the Wii u does.

Nintendo sells hardware for a profit, Yakuza-san has been quoted as saying NX will sell for a profit, and Reggie had his "Teraflops are shit" speech which to me seems to indicate the NX won't even be 1 TFLOP.

You're being insanely unrealistic thinking Nintendo will put out competent hardware given their track record and what we know, *especially* if it's a handheld where weight (ie battery size) and battery life are huge factors in determining clock speed

Hopefully there will be two different versions of the NX with a more powerful home console version, but we don't know that yet. Most evidence points to the fact that NX is a handheld, so when thought of as a handheld, it's reasonable to assume it's not going to be some powerhouse hardware. That would either make it prohibitively expensive or require them to sell it at a loss

Extremely unlikely, they'd have to design the thing around some sort externally accessible high-speed bus and games would have to do something like CF/SLI in order to take advantage of the performance. Not only would a design like that drive up costs it would also bring about all existing multi-GPU issues and increase programming difficulty tremendously.

The path to improving hardware is what PCs are doing - take the old component out and add a faster one in. There's a reason we're getting a "Neo" and a "Scorpio" instead of plugging extra shit into a PS4 or Xbone.

Tegra X2's IGP is 256 Pascal ALUs. Its only a moderate uplift in performance over X1 with 256 Maxwell ALUs.

ARM SoCs are cheap.
High end chips like those used in the latest Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhone sell for around $25 per unit. Nvidia's pricing for their Tegra line has been the same.

That's very interesting. People have been talking about it as if it was a portable unit that would come close to rivalling PS4's current performance.

The WiiU's GPU is 320 VLIW5 shaders at 550mhz. Absurdly old arch fabbed on an absurdly old process.
The Tegra X1 offers more performance than that, and the Cortex A57 CPU cores in it outperform the PPC750 cores in the WiiU.
