Veemon is a really good design. Most Digimon are messy and overdesigned or underdesigned or have dumb concepts, but Veemon looks really good.
why is skull graymon the best digimon
How so?
It's the only anime game with an alive MMO(that i know of).
There are games coming out frequently and a new season.
It's alive.
They kept changing the status quo too often.
the game mechanics were not as clearly defined, hurting its chances with the older audience and it doesn't have one single mascot character to plaster everywhere
Kids stopped buying what little toys there were.
Bandai is a toy company first and foremost.
as far as games go
Monster Rancher > Digimon > Pokemon
Pokemon is better
Digimon games were never better in fact most of them were shit or mediocre and this is coming from someone who is huge Digimon fan and has played all the games on PS1/PS2 and even that PSP game with fan translations. Anime though is far better than Pokemon or Monster Rancher.
digimon tri has no business being this good
I know people hated 02 but I liked Veemon, Wormmon, Hawkmon and Armadillomon.
How come with every season of Digimon it got shittier and shittier?
This.
All of the digimons games (stories/world/arena) have been mediocre at best.
Most of the anime series (ie. everything not xros wars s2/frontier) are better than the pokeyman cartoons.
Well their forms always start simple and get more complex as they evolve. Makes sense.
On PS1 and PS2 alongside Digimon and Monster rancher there was one other game series in which you were catching monsters and fighting with them I don't know how it was called, can anyone remind me. I think it take place is some forest or something like that.
What is Veemon true evolution? I remember in S2 he evolved into ExVeemon while in games he evolved into Veedramon.
The only truly good Digimon game was Cyber Sleuth. The rest were mediocre or worse.
I had a lot of fun with DW1 and 3 and that fighting game for PS1 I think it was called Digimon Rumble Arena.
> Implying
Season 1 was great. Season 2 was shit, but that was mostly because of a smaller team and a shitty ending. Season 3 was probably the best. Season 4 was different, but I hesitate to call it bad. Season 5 had the MC punch the fuck out of digimon in order to digivolve. I didn't really follow anything after that though.
Pokemon had better games, digimon didn't stand a chance.
Jade Coccoon.
his true evolution is into ulforceveedramon I think, it's a humanoid digimon with swords who woulda thunk
Shitty games while the anime was good.
Pretty much the opposite of Pokémon.
Season 4 was alright right up until they're done with the corrupted spirits and Cherubimon.
I also stopped following after 5.
It's too bad that my hatred for Davis made me instinctively dislike veemon. I had a plushy of him too.
Xros Wars has a good first third, a hit or miss second third, and filler hell last third which is pretty much shit
Appmon starts next month, I think
Digimon should've perfected DW gameplay instead of changing it with every single game.
I had a lot of fun with Mortal Kombat Mythologies, that doesn't make it good.
>Pokemon anime
>shit
It is, don't kid yourself, most episodes are literally the same fucking thing.
You have to be legit autistic to think the Pokémon anime is anything but a glorified advertisement for the games.
How do you perfect something that was already perfect?
Pokemon was easy to understand. They also had successful merchandising, games and even a TCG which both are played competitively to this day. Nobody knew what the fuck was going on in Digimon and I don't recall any Digimon games or merch. All I know is Renamon and Weregarurumon gave me boners.
I dropped early into Season 5 any cool looking designs since then?
>not ignoring the human and liking the Digimon
Yolei is an annoying cunt but Hawkmon was cool
>Renamon and Weregarurumon
I want to grasp Vulpinedemon's chest floof.
>already perfect
I would agree if finding Piximon wasn't a pain in the butt.
They could always add more locations, digimons, everything but human NPCs.
Fuck Re:Digitize.
Too many shit Mega designs.
How many cosplayer Digimon do we need?
>he never had a Digimon Vpet
Digimon 01 was not that complicated to follow as a kid.
>Renamon & Weregarurumon gave me boners
Poor user, you never stood a chance.
Because you are like bismuth
In all honesty, the main element against digimon was that it was comparatively a trickle of content (insofar as the original virtual pets, anime, etc.,) versus Pokemon's relatively comprehensive content dump as an expansive game boy title with Nintendo's backing (in Japan) and as a game with a supporting anime and all other kinds of marketing up the ass (rest of the world.)
If the situations surrounding release were reversed, we would quite likely be talking from a totally opposite perspective- Digimon would be ubiquitous and Pokemon niche.
Bandai's shitty treatment of the franchise right when Fox Kids went bye-bye.
It's a miracle that Bamco finally figured out that they should start aiming the franchise at older audiences seeing they're the only ones who give a fuck about the IP and are the real intended audience.
>he never had those digivolving toys
>he never considered getting a Digivice
>he never said "fuck that" and got a D-Terminal instead
Just ordered digimon world for ps1 was very surprised how much value the game held. Unopened copies easily going for 100 bucks. I remember being a little to young to really understand it and always ended up with sukomon. Can't wait to play it with guides to help digivolve some good shit
Pokemon was a video game series with a TV show.
Digimon was a TV series with a video game.
Hence the Pokemon the games were more consistent than the TV show which sometimes varied wildly.
Digimon on the other hand had the TV show vary wildly in quality and the games vary wildly as well since they were just cash-ins from the TV show.
So overall quality consistency is why Pokemon is more popular.
>unopened
Don't even bother, chances are some scalper just wrapped it in his basement.
i don't get it
I remember buying one of these. What did these actually do? The wiki says it's an "analyzer". All I remember was putting in a number and getting some Digimon.
Actually Digimon was a v-pet first that actually came out in America around two years before the anime's US premiere, but nobody gave a fuck about it until the show came.
This is the answer.
>Not playing the only decent mobile game right now
>Appmon has no traditional V-Pet or Digivice toy
>the Digivice this time is instead a Yo-kai Watch or Kamen Rider-esque trinket collecting noisemaker
I just want a new Digimon V-Pet with all the cool bells and whistles of the recent Tamagotchis
Yea no I'm not a collector. I'm even feeling buyers remorse for not just emulating it and it's not even here yet. I literly just got the disc for 30 bucks. Cheapest I could find after calling local shops and searching the Internet
I thought there was a program just called V-Pet. I had it a while ago.
It had the exact same problem a lot of other shit has. A lot of popular shit works really hard to maintain a very family friendly facade (see: Mcdonald's, Pokemon, Mario, etc). The competition sees this and tries to do something very similar but with a bit of edge in its marketing/overall design to it to try an attract dumb kids or teenagers looking for something more "mature" (See: Burger King, Digimon, Sonic)
Look at a bunch of Evolutions the shows never used. I think you could fuse two different digimon like in 02 as well.
Which was good if you were a kid and you wanted to see all the megas and combos the Anime never used.
Remember that time mewtwo killed Ash?
Hey I started playing this the other day and got gallantmon and goddramon via the friend point pull.
Are those any good?
An app just isn't the same.
Wh...what is it?
I legit don't remember what was even going on. Something about the digital world and viruses or something. They used the ipods with cards to control them. Then there was a series with kids transforming into Digimon. Like how did it come to that. It's all so forgettable while Pokemon is pretty much 'immortal 13 year old travels the world fighting his mons'. And don't judge me.
I'm legitimately thinking of buying one of these when the 20th anniversary white one comes out
Seeing as how I got turned on by the buff male digimen (some being lizard men in scantily clad armor), I can't judge you.
But It sounds like you're talking about Season 3 and I'll agree that season I always classified "lots of shit happens"
Season 1 was mostly "These kids get sucked into a digital world somehow and now they go on adventures trying to get back home, fighting bad guys along the way"
Season 2 tried to do different things but it just ended up a mess.
I got a few months of use out of each the P's and the 4U+, so it might be worth it. I was gonna order a M!X soon, didn't know about the 20th white one. Maybe I should wait for that.
>tried to watch a more recent Digimon anime last year
>animated like garbage
>disgusting voice actors
>watched for 2 minutes before fucking off and doing something else
I liked digimon a lot when i was younger. I had the digipet thing and everything. It was cool how they were actual sentient creatures instead of just mentally retarded monsters that can only communicate through grunts and saying their own name.
I honestly couldn't tell you why Pokemon maintained such steam going forward while Digimon didn't when the quality of both franchises decreased dramatically as time went on though it was pretty clear which had more quality to begin with; other than Nintendo throws more money at marketing pokemon than whoever throws money at marketing digimon.
either way it feels good to not be 12 years old anymore so i don't give a shit.
Fuckin degenerate kys
...
>what went wrong and why did Digimon die?
I have a Japanese pen pal that is still convinced that Digimon is just a bootleg of Pokemon. Granted, he is 18, so he probably is lacking a lot of context.
Regardless, he tells me that not many people in Japan like it anyway.
Reminder that Veemon evolves into a terrorist.
>turned on by the buff male digimen
you have great taste user
>animated like garbage
That's honestly not new for Digimon
>last good digimon game I played was the DS one with an emulator
That game was actually fun.
The only thing good about Tri is the artstyle and the animation. Everything else about it is as vapid as a seasonal anime.
>Joshua Seth is coming back
Is this why there are so many big tits in the series now? I thought they were just trying to fix Japan's birthrate instead of trying to actually get neckbeards like myself to buy it.
These are my thoughts exactly. They never kept it consistent enough or good enough for people to latch onto. Then there were large games in game releases.
They almost did it with Cyber Sleuth, but it ends up being a 5/10 JRPG that basically shoehorns Digimon in. The combat is great, the Digimon are cute and great, but the story is stupid and puts itself way in front of the Digimon aspect. Completely offputting and imo, ruined chances of a big revival of Digimon.
Do people really dislike the Digimon games that much? I honestly put at least 200 hours into Digimon World 4, but I'll admit most of that time was grinding. Digital Card Battle was also pretty fun. I really can't think of anything too negative to say about it other than the literally cheating AI boss.
For the record, I'm generally picky with anime games in the first place.
Honestly, most of digimon games suck complete and utter ass, and nowadays even the anime does too, last good gen was frontier and last good digimon game was one for DS.
Dead as in no offline presence. I only ever see people talking about Digimon online, but I see guys talking about Pokemon and even Yokai Watch in real life. Bought a copy of Cyber Sleuth from a store and the cashier, who looked around 25 said "So is this some kind of Yugioh game?" so I really don't think a lot of people care much about it in the west, especially since no kids like it. Hell, my aunt likes Digimon more than her daughter.
There was even a version for the Sega Saturn.
>and it doesn't have one single mascot character to plaster everywhere
They shove Agumon in a lot of things.
who here /beelzemon/?
digimon games are notorious for having lots of mandatory grinding. and not even with the illusion of doing quests or anything. just straight up grinding
>had this an 02 digivice
>lost them because stupid kid
>look them up on, ebay, see they go for 100+ USD
Each season is a different story and they have different writers. I honestly wished they did the same with Pokemon, seeing as how the Chronicles specials were more interesting than the main anime half of the time.
>that hentai ONA of her stroking the shota dicks
But Pokemon is edgy as fuck when you consider that the whole show is about cockfighting and slaver of sentient creatures. Not to mention how brutal even simple skirmishes can be.
Also, how is Burger King remotely edgy? The commercials with the stalker King? I honestly thought those were pretty funny.
>but the story is stupid and puts itself way in front of the Digimon aspect
That's honestly standard fare for Bamco. I'm convinced half of the scenarios they use for games aren't even originally for the same franchise and they just recycle scripts they decided not to use. I assume this is why Tekken is so disjointed now as well.
>youtube.com
Fuckin edgy
>I'm convinced half of the scenarios they use for games aren't even originally for the same franchise and they just recycle scripts they decided not to use
That's exactly what it feels like. Every time I boot up that game, I feel like I'm playing two different games. It's frustrating. There's so many long dialog parts and wandering around that it makes me forget that I even have Digimon.
Pokemon had better markieting. They promoted it with the phrase gotta catch them all and had mechandise everywhere. Digimon was never about collecting and more about going on an adventure to save the world or rasing a single virtual pet. Game wise imo, digimon world 1 is obtuse as hell and i want to know how people played it back then without a guide or the internet.
Digimions not dead its just niche everywhere except japan though over there its simply no where near as popular as pokemon.
>skull graymon
>the best digimon
Meme
>What is Omnimon
FTFY
1998-2003 is generally considered the "classic era" of the Pokemon franchise (first three generations of the games, episodes of the show with Misty)
What was the "classic era" of Digimon?
redigitize decode is amazing is great
1999-2000
remember how they had the same stupid song play in a fight in the later episodes?
hey digimon hey digimon or something like that?
