>Yo! Check it out... ToeJam and Earl are back on Earth once again, getting funky and running from those crazy Earthlings. Deja vu! (deja vu!) Here’s the basics… TJ decides it’s a good idea to “borrow” the Rapmaster Rocketship from Lamont (no point waking him up, right?), so he and Big E. can take Latisha and Lewanda out for a joyride. While they’re in orbit around Earth, maybe showing off just a little, TJ tells Earl to crank the bass on the speakers and “Press the RED button!” Unfortunately, that’s the button that says: “Black Hole - Do Not Press!!” (Doh!) You can pretty much guess the rest, TJ and Earl once again find themselves searching for the pieces of their Rocketship, collecting power-up presents left lying around by Santa, and dealing with the less-than-rational human beings.

>Back in the Groove is a mash-up of the very best features from the classic console games (that's one and two, y'all), with a pile of new features thrown in. The goal is to give old skool TJ & E fans a pure blast of funky nostalgia, and give new players a taste of the light-hearted, co-op play that is TJ & E.

Thoughts, Sup Forums? Any hope of it being good? Or is TJ&E one of those things that should have stayed in the 90's.

It looks like they had a $10 budget.

I can definitely see people having a problems with the art style, but gameplay wise it looks on-point. I've wanted another Toejam and Earl game for so long that I don't really care what it looks like.

Wait those are eye stalks? He doesn't just gave a vagina mouth?

And?

>funded by adult swim

so what was the point of their kickstarter then? they made their goal with it.

Anybody bitching about the artstyle is a fucking faggot, that being said from the trailer it definitely looks faster paced which much more to do.

T-T-T-T-TOEJAM AND EARL

They are basically going to promote the game

well it looks better than the kickstarter trailer from forever ago, but still shitty and is going to fail terribly.

fun fact, the tj&e3 beta on dreamcast plays like tj&e1 on genesis but is in actual 3d.

I hope it's as fun as the first game.I'll check it out.

Why isnt' SEGA Helping them?

The art style looks like cheap flash

>sega funding anything that isn't Sonic
That and Sega doesn't 100% own the rights just like vectorman.

did they burn through all of the kickstarter money?

Man, They should stick to giving Toejam and Earl pure 70's-early 80's funk styles. For some reason anything after mid 80's hip hop style it becomes cringy

Almost no kickstarter goal is suppose to represent the full amount of budget a game neefs. Devs use kickstarter as a way to attract publishers to fund the rest of the cost of a game.

Never mind , I'm a retard. It was early 80's funk mixed with late 80s/early 90s hip hop

Still gets rather weird when you see stuff like 2000's and 2010's urban culture references though

...

Revivals have a high percentage of fail.
Look at the bevis and butthead redo.

They were pretty cool way back when.
but, they really shouldn't have revived them.

I want this to happen.

why can't earl be a naked alien with shoes and a gold chain again? I miss that 80s funk style

toejam i mean

>naked earl

Sounds good, looks good in the fake pop up graphics style, but def. needs way more animation. Looks way too static.

Muh childhood

I have mixed feelings about it, despite loving the games as a kid (especially 2, which introduced me to the franchise), but here's to hoping it has a successful launch.

I greatly preferred the old designs, but this game looks like it might be cool, if it's not just a rehash of the first game. What's it adding to improve the formula? Does this mean SEGA doesn't own the IP anymore?

MTV has been shit for more than a decade. Hardly anyone watches their shows, even when the B&B revival was on. They have to broadcast the VMAs over five or six channels to get more attention.

B&B was shit when they made fun of more than just music videos.

Since they are using a vector graphic style of art the game looks a lot like Don't starve.

Yo man on the kickstarter it says "old school skins for Toejam and Earl" under the stretch goals
Nice, we get what we want

They literally could not have gotten a better publisher. This is seriously a match made in heaven.

Art style and the way they move in game reminds me of Don't Starve a little

What do you all think of the voices they gave TJ&E in that trailer?

...I think I liked TJ&E better when they were mostly unvoiced.

Other than that, looking forward to the game. Loved the original. PoF was OK, but the original was a classic.
