Post a server for something and lets make it happen.
SWAT4 with lethal primary weapons is a much more intense experience in my opinion. With nonlethal you just pepper-ball anything that moves, but with lethal you can't shoot until it's allowed, and even then you might not want to due to the points you lose.
Chaos Theory is by far my favorite Splinter Cell and I'd love a remake of it, but I also know that if they ever remake it, it'll have all of the blacklist mechanics.

It used to be amazing when you used darkness to actually hide from the merc, then managed to grab him from behind and whisper sweet nothings into his ear as you strangled him.
I go to /vg/, they don't really have a flavor of the month thing, there's a lot of anime cell phone games and occasionally a new console/AAA game has a general, if you try to make a general for a not-already-popular game it dies immediately.
The problem with /vg/ is that the types of people who frequent one general are almost always insufferable (trip)faggots
But having a small group try to clear the night club mission with just pepper balls and beanbags without taking any hits is intense as fuck.
It's one of the only missions that door wedges are very useful in.
Also the Stetchkov expansion added glowsticks.

Also, once you get into the further levels enemies get armor and gas masks and you can't pepper ball them anymore, and beanbags are less effective. It's only the early levels where you can just get away with spray and pray pepper balls.

Used to be you could make a Sup Forums server and you'd get maybe 10-20 people who all roughly shared the same interests. Then you could joke around and play a friendly game with like minded stangers.
Now you make a Sup Forums server and you'd almost certainly get inundated with 14 yearolds that think it makes they hardcore to play with Sup Forums and call everyone a nigger over the mic. Then if you tell them to shut the fuck up they'll start with the memes and never stop.
The other option is /vg/ but those are usually very cliquey. People who do nothing but play said game together day in and day out.
Ace of Spades was an amusing one back when it was brand fucking new.
Sup Forums actually had a D2 private server with their own ladder for a while, it was years ago, you missed out.
The worst part is when you have a game, take SWAT 4 for example, that is a co-op or team based game with any way to screw with your own team, you get the kids who think it's HILARIOUS to do nothing but team kill/fuck up the game for everybody else.
That didn't used to happen, or if it did it was pretty rare.

We stopped playing tribes because the game turned to shit shortly after shazbowl with p2w nonsense then stopped being developed completely. How does someone even begin to form the stupid logic you have?
I stopped playing Tribes when they nerfed the stealth class so that they couldn't GO FAST and stealth at the same time, that's around the time MOST people quit.
They put out a shitty patch to try to make the game an e-sport and they ruined it for everybody.

Compared to something like SS13 that I played with Sup Forums back in the day (I wanna say 09) and I'd play that again today.
I actually QUIT playing SS13 because of Sup Forums, honestly.
Originally, something awful had a server and they were pretty much the only one (There was also Bay but it was autism mode RP and nobody was ever on it), and Goonstation had at MOST 25 players at peak times on a weekend.
The game was great, the players weren't a bunch of whiny bitches and in fact they usually got banned just to laugh at them when they were too whiney.
Then Goons let out a code release for one of their builds.
Then in comes /tg/, /tg/ makes a server, it's basically goonserver but with a community change. TLE ran the server, and most of the admins were a bunch of memeing kids (In fact I got banned day 1 just for being a known Goonstation player)
Cut to a while later, and the meme bullshit mostly calmed down, except the server became too popular and there were too many admins with too many ideas of what is and is not okay. Ownership changes, I think around this time Sup Forums got their own server.
When Sup Forums started playing, their players were the worst so far, a lot of kids who just ran around killing everybody, lots of bans went out on the Sup Forums server, and those players moved to /tg/ and goon, which caused more awful shit.
Cut to now? Both Sup Forums and /tg/ are pretty much unplayable messes and popularity contests, the rules are now basically "Whatever an admin decides is bad is bad they don't actually have to use the rules as a guideline" so people will get banned for the stupidest shit, or they'll let people get away with killing several people just because they found it funny.
Fuck, SS13 used to be amazing.

It can use direct IP, but it can have problems and requires port forwarding on the host's part so most people can't get it to work because they're retarded.
You can also use a "lan client" like Hamachi, or the more recent (and apparently better?) one which is Evolve.
There is a server client that you can download that replaces the no-longer-working Gamespy Arcade that SWAT4 used to use, but I couldn't figure out how to get my server to list on it the last time I tried.
Also you can't buy SWAT 4 anywhere, it's a pirate or don't play game.

Last time I recall somebody trying to use direct IP it was on a stream I was watching, and they could only get 1 person to join, then it wouldn't let other people join.
They ended up using Evolve and it worked (I played with them a bit until they privated the server because some faggot kept killing all the hostages and the team.)
