Ok so i'm playing NIOH right now and I have two questions

Ok so i'm playing NIOH right now and I have two questions.

1. When does the Beta end?
2. Can someone point me to a video/ guide for leveling because I don't know what the fuck to spend my shit on and I don't want to mess up in case I can't redistribute said points.

1. after an omnths

2. how? it's a beta, try to figure it out for yourself

September 6
Read the descriptions you nigger. All of the skills tell you what they influence. You can press start and get a brief description by hovering over them.

1. the fuck is an omnths
2. you're right but the thing is i want to get through the beta kind of quick to get those rewards.

it literally tells you what the points do
pick a weapon type or two that you want to use
level the stats for those
get a few points in magic, sloth talismans are op

Guys, should I be switching stances on the reg whilest fighting? It seems like I should. I'm at the first boss and he just has so much health and I find I'm running out of stamina a lot in his 2nd phase and just eating attacks. Should I switch to low for that or am I just bad.

If you have Flux, then yes. Otherwise it's not necessary. Flux lets you Ki Pulse while changing stances. It can lead to some pretty flashy shit.

What in god's name does Ki Pulse do, cause I saw mad shit about how everyone says its important but it doesn't seem to have any effect on anything. I've tried using it fighting the yokai but it doesn't seem to do anything tangible.

>second boss twilight

why?

Doing it on the fly is unnecessary, but you should at least consider it between combos. You don't want to be on low stance when they have no stamina when you could whale on them with high stance.

Mid stance is the best for blocking. But you shouldn't block. Block is your last resort against bosses. Focus on dodging and attack only when you see an opening, and don't get greedy.

Did you play the tutorial? Because it literally explains that.

Ki pulse restores your stamina. Look at your bar after you use an attack, the red part will rapidly fill up and turn white. If you press R1, the white part is given back to you, and a perfect Ki Pulse removes the yokai fields that harm your stamina regeneration.

I did, it didn't seem to do anything there. All it said was it disrupted and purified the area. Except...it didn't

Wait thats it? Theres barely any of those to start with. I thought it was supposed to weaken yokai or something.

I finished the alpha and beta demo just with mid 1kat stance.

can you get more ochoko cups?

Ki Pulses are basically a reload of your stamina. Just watch the bar fill up and hit it when it's full and before it disappears. If you do a Ki Pulse that gives you back all of your used stamina, you remove those puddles of shit that the Yokai leave that cause you to use more stamina.

It's rather useful.

Defeat Revenants.

kill revenants for them

quick question, whats the difference between buying the slash parry skill and the stab parry skill?

hows the beta this time around different from the last one? i feel like dustin off the ol psquadruple to play it but i kinda burned myself out on it last time i played

I think one of them you can do in low and mid, the other is mid-only

I also think the stab has a slightly tighter window for more damage

>soul match a high level weapon onto a wooden sword
>get a wooden sword with 213 attack
This is probably the coolest thing ever. I cannot stop playing this game goddamn. Kinda feel bad that I'm not taking part in the threads but this fuckin game.
The stab one is faster and knocks down the enemy, while the slash does more damage. Generally the stab one is good if you're not going to kill them or are against a crowd, since it buys you more time.

that would be interesting
i fucking have them both know fuck me

Very very different. The old second level from the Alpha is gone, but now there's a new level, new side missions and hard mode versions of almost all the missions, as well as a blacksmith and forging stuff.

sounds neat, will definitely give it a try then

Honestly, I don't like either of them. Stick with Backwave instead. It gives you way more options.

If you connect with it and they're not low on stamina after, you can just tap the block button again to go into Tempest and then stab them on the ground. And if they are, you can do a Heavy Attack to stagger them, followed by another heavy attack to do the stab and kick.

The actual parries requried you to commit to an action. They look pretty cool and can be a lot of damage if you catch a low-stamina enemy with the back turn damage but that's about it.

The camera is also changed. It went from a Ninja Gaiden style camera (+lock on) to the Dark Souls camera.

thanks mane

i feel the same too i just came to ask the parry question

Yeah I just mentioned content but the game's mechanics are very different, for better or worse. The camera is a Souls-esque birdseye camera, the lockon movement is changed so that you don't turn away when running, durability is completely taken out, and high stance and low stance swapped Ki mechanics; high stance has the dodge pulse and low now has the combo pulse.

What skill is backwave again?

Parries are really good, though. Human enemies (including revenants and Muneshige) and normal-szied skellies are no match for me with parries.

Backwave is the just guard style skill, where if you block just before getting hit it knocks them back as though you broke their guard. It's pretty good and safer to attempt, but gets you less damage overall than the parries.

Alrighty, thanks!

Has anyone managed to get the Twirl skill (spear parry that gives you a knockdown) to work? I can parry like a king with 1kat, but I haven't been able to make Twirl work once. Does it only work against certain weapons or something?

It's not so hard, but it has different, tighter timing compared to the katana parries. The trick is just to parry earlier than you would think to. Works on everything the other parries do.

I see, I'll get back to practicing then. Would you say it's as useful as the katana parries? I really like those for shutting down armored enemies who never let you get more than 1 hit in on them normally.

Definitely. Not only does it ground them for a stab, but it gives you that attack boost for the stab and the combo afterwards. I haven't used spears as much in the Beta but the skill seems just as good as it was in the Alpha.

I'm not sure if that's true. Tempest into the Knockdown stab with my current setup gives me about 850.

When they're low on stamina and you do it, you get Heavy Stab - Heavy Stab (Grapple) which does about the same. Typically with the actual parries I can get around 600 before they're out of range.

>600

I did 1400 to Muneshige with the triangle parry followup, and then I could get an extra swipe in afterwards for a total of 1600 damage.

What's the combo you use after?

The stab parry would probably do about the same damage as the Tempest combo, but the slash parry not only does a ton of damage on the slash itself, but it gives you a full light combo on their back, or if they're low on stamina you get the stagger combo.

They are both fun to do. I can't do Backwave (Just Guard) consistently tho.

Nothing, just a quick attack in Mid Stance since Muneshige recovers and blocks after that. But for regular enemies you can probably get a few more Mid Stance hits in.

FUCKING HINO-ENMA YOU STUPID VAMPIRE BITCH

WHAT THE FUCK THERE'S LIKE NO TELL FOR HER STUPID FUCKIN SPIN ATTACK
GODDAMMIT I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW I JUST WANT THAT BLOODY DLC

JUST FUCKING DIE DAMMIT
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

>all that shit hanging from his back

That ain't fashionable...

Where can I find more of this sexy Roaring Gun ammunition?

Did i got gut? Or did they really make the beta easier than the alpha?
In the alpha i lasted like 6 days to clear the first level, and now i beated in 2 hours

The fuck is Summoner's Candle?

You can always unequip your ranged weapons.

Try and stay at a range where you'll only have to block the edge of it. It doesn't take much Ki to block unless you get trapped by all the hits.
Who else knows that you can parry her flying charge move?
It's probably a case of both. Some of the early enemies have a little less health, and some of the mechanics (Ki, durability and lockon movement) were made easier and less punishing.
If you die it lets you call back your guardian spirit along with the Amrita you left there.

>she makes her combo from afar > close in and attack
>she tries to get real close to you > just defend and retreat until she's at a but if distance again
>she flies toward you > dodge and attack
That's it. Not hard or unreasonable at all. Learn the patterns fuckboi and don't expect to be able to attack every time you want to. The widows are rare but they exist and are safe.

What actually regulates if you flinch from attacks? It's starting to look like equipment load to me which seems really wrong. Am I missing something?

Can someone tell me the pros and cons of 2kat compared to 1kat? I'm at work and cannot fucking wait to try 2kat out.

It's something I haven't experimented much with but I'm fairly confident in saying it's your weight. Heavier armour makes you flinch less while lighter armour can leave you stunned a little more I think.

That's the thing though. When you raise your stamina your weight gets lighter.

Thanks for the advice.

>Not hard or unreasonable at all
No, it is hard and unreasonable.
It's easily the hardest thing so far.

I'm mostly okay for the majority of her attacks, but the 3hit spin is really hard to see coming and she can use it after almost everything.

They've got it pretty historically or mythologically I guess accurate though, because it's making me want to kill mkyself.
I HATE HER SO MUCHWHY IS SHE A THING?

Pros: Faster, with more damage output and a lot of rapid moving rapid slashing moves.
Cons: Less range overall, and much less defensive utility as well as moves that generally leave you open more.
They're really damn fun.

>That's the thing though. When you raise your stamina your weight gets lighter.
So that you can wear heavier armor...

2kat is ridiculously fast

Also, I don't know 100% if this is a thing on 2kat, but you can get life on hit effects on other weapons. In theory this would be fucking ridiculous on 2kat since you hit so fast in low stance, to the point of you healing most of your health bar in one combo.

It is already pretty ridiculous on using a high stance spear combo.

Oh yeah I wasn't thinking of that. Wearing heavy armour pretty much will always put you in C weight anyway though I see what you mean. It's one of the two anyway, and odds are if that's what you're aiming for you'll end up with both even if you level Stamina a lot, since then you can then wear the heaviest sets.

I'm grinding now to upgrade my heart, strength, and skill (I alternate depending which one gives me more attack per level) so I can up my attack, the closest I ever got was getting her down to 50%. And I just can't deal with this shit, the game still isn't precise enough for the reaction speeds it requires. They improved from alpha and made the character a lot more responsive, but there's still needless weight to some attacks, considering.

You're leveling this much for the Vampire bitch? You must be utter trash at this game.

So how are we supposed to get raiken in this?

>level 37
I beat her at half that user...
It sounds like your problems aren't going to be fixed with more damage. The controls work fine, you just have to focus on being able to keep up with her speed. Remember low stance, and don't overcommit. She's all about punishing that, even when you think you have an opening always pay attention.

Why are you such a hateful person?

You're lvl37 and still stuck on the succubus? I'm only lvl18 myself, but it's good to know I'm not the only that just cannot win no matter what.

It's like she just doesn't compute with me at all.

Just fucking look at your level. The fuck are you doing? Just gid gud ffs.

Nah dude, like I do low level runs on souls games but this is just ridiculous, having a combo based system rather than a puppeteer in a souls-like is stupid to begin with but there's needless weightyness to everything that just encumbers gameplay, people that defend this shit or go "hurdhurd I beat it at level one" are idiots, like if shit was really as easy as you imply you wouldn't feel such a need to brag about which level you beat her at so don't even listen to the retarded trolls, I won't even dignify their retardation with a reply.

I know it's a retarded question but how do you use a ranged weapon?

R2 to aim, Square for regular ammo, triangle for Special ammo. If you have ammo, it won't let you even aim without it. R1+up/down to swap.

Please abstain from answering the survey.

Life on hit also exists for 1kat. It was like 9 life per hit though, so not much.
You don't need to see it coming when you only attack after her flying attack, sucker attack or during her other attack that doesn't put a field down.
Defeat Muneshige.

I asked why are you such a hateful person, though.

No hate, but I don't pity you either.

The L1+triangle Ki burst thingy completely overrides your L1+Triangle parry, even if you deselect it from the learned skills tree scheme, that's a bug.

This is for the normal katanas btw.

>No hate.
Being belligerent is hateful, whether you agree with it or not. I'm not sure what you think yourself to be, but being offensive to people just because they play different from you, that's pretty damn hateful man, its like you're way more invested into gaming than you should be, you need to take a break dude. because this Considering its a game. Is not behavior of a functioning human being.

It doesn't. Go to Skill Customization and you're able to choose between Sword Ki or Water Shadow. Make sure you're in the right stance for the menu and in combat.

One thing I never see mentioned. Do people not know you can Ki pulse with a dodge? A timed dodge will also disperse those fields.

You type confusingly, or maybe I'm just too tired.

Still I can see why you'd have trouble with her.
She's a downright annoying fight.

>during her other attack that doesn't put a field down.
Is that the kicking one? Or the Umbrella swipes? And I assume by sucker you mean the Davy Jones one?
I still think it's bullshit.
But I also think I can do it with a lot of trouble.

people know and they've been pretty pissed that they gave it to high stance
no more easy dps and ki regen with low stance 2kats

Why are you ignoring the advice I gave and instead rising to the taunts? Harshly worded but they're right and as I said, leveling isn't what's going to solve the problems you're having with the boss.
Only in high stance, but a bunch of people know about it. It used to be on low stance, but they swapped them around. Now low stance has Ki Pulses on it's square triangle combo enders which high stance used to have. Personally I think it doesn't have any real use for that and it worked with high stance better, but the dodge pulse also works out great for high stance and I don't know what I'd give low stance instead. I guess it doesn't need one really though.

>Is that the kicking one? Or the Umbrella swipes? And I assume by sucker you mean the Davy Jones one?
The melee attack that doesn't put a yokai field on the ground, so not the spin2win shit. Davy Jones? I mean the one where she grand you and sucks out your life.

>Why are you ignoring the advice I gave and instead rising to the taunts?
Telling someone they're trash and saying "get gud" is not advice. And as was already covered by people here, she has attacks which are not telegraphed and can follow any attack, I have enough pretentious people to deal with at work, you're not helping anyone.

I think I tried to do that and it just kept doing the Ki burst. Thx anyway, i'll try again, maybe I was checking the wrong stance.

Why are you ignoring the advice I gave?

The one-eyed Oni was an easier fight than I thought it'd be.

This game feels like a lot the anime Ninja Scroll.

>tfw beating the first boss on the ship
Holy fuck this game is fucking great. The moment you realize when to switch stance for infinity combos I love it.
>tfw getting butt fucked now by the 2 gaints on the training thingy

Yeah, Davy Jones. The tentancle faced personal space invading grab like that one scene in Pirates of the Caribbean.

I thought she just had slight variations of the two different melee combos, guess I've gotta keep an eye out.

I appreciate the help you guys have given.
I've pretty much calmed down now, so I'll give it another try tomorrow.

There's two of us user, I'm the one with the anime reaction pictures.

an axe makes those fuckers trivial.

Keep a cool head. Getting angry will only make your form sloppy.

So does low stance or it did. I miss alpha low stance so much.

I can't play slow weapons after DaS3. I tried the axe but I'm an honorable samurai so katana for me.

Yeah I assumed that since you were cool about it but the advice about the boss still applies for everything, I thought the guy would have read the thread already.
Her combos doesn't have variations per say, but she can choose to not do the last hit on both of them.
Low stance axe can be surprisingly quick.

Fuck that beta's boss... fuck it.

>he can go through your attacks, you cannot go through his attacks
>attack that rips all stamina, instant kill
>arrows through the fucking stone
>only way to secure any possible wins are to cheese
>try to be carefull as fuck
>make one mistake
>die instantly

This game would be great if it wouldn't scream for artificial difficulty.

>Low stance axe can be surprisingly quick.
gonna try it later thanks.

I thought I was good at video games and then I play this and I get my ass handed to me left and right. It's like one-half refreshing and one half really frustrating, only because I don't feel like I'm making good progress just yet.

If anybody could answer these questions for me I'd appreciate it

>Does equip load affect dodge invincibility?
>Are the yokai just health sponges that will two shot you or am I doing something wrong (beside getting hit)
>For flux do I input the stance switch INSTEAD of hitting R1 to Ki pulse or do I hit R1 to pulse and then press a stance button?
> Was dark souls actually easy all along and this is true difficulty

>I thought she just had slight variations of the two different melee combos, guess I've gotta keep an eye out.
I think she has three.
>spin2win with yokai field
Block and retreat. When you're close enough after she's done you can hit her like once.
>melee combo attack with no field
Close in when there is still one attack missing, you get there in time to hit her 2-3 times.
>same melee combo with an additional finisher where her legs go pretty high
Same as above but make sure to dodge it, it's easily doable so it doesn't matter to know which one she's doing.

She's using the 2 later attacks even when she's not in reach, so is easy.

Does playing the beta unlock anything for the full release? If so then what?

Dark souls was easy if you just were careful and actually took time to look, what's going on in the area you are going to.
Dark Souls was hard as balls if you just ran from room to room not giving two dicks.

Nioh is fucking ass rape from one normal enemy. Fuck this game and fuck it's maker, it's really fun but FUCK IT.
