I'm pretty sure it was already confirmed that they're working on their next game, but it's not been revealed yet on what that is.
Could be new Metroid
Could be the next DK
Could be something completely different.
probly a video game dunno
If it was Metroid they would've/should've announced it when Federation Force was unveiled.
I recall seeing a article saying they're working on a new project and it isn't metroid.
Also keep in mind it's all new people, most of the devs who worked on metorid prime 1 and 2 are gone.
I imgine you're gonna have to do some soulsearching after you've had a project be as unexpectedly succesful as the Prime games were. like the Bamham games, and like From software, retro made some innovations that turned out to be better than they could have predicted. they milk those ideas, naturally, but there comes a point when that's not possible anymore without doing more harm than good to your company. You need a new idea of the same calibre. But it's more than likely that there was a considerable amount of luck that went into your first big hit. You can't assume than any later ideas of yours are ever gonna be that good, and at the same time there is now an expectation that you'll be able to do something interesting and good. if I were them I'd be taking a long, hard look in the mirror right now and really take the time to think about what the best way to handle the situation would be.
Maybe they're gonna resume working on that scrapped RPG idea they were working on before the got started making Prime.
Mario Prime
New IP
Microsoft is buying them out.
Ahah no.
Eternal Darkness
Prime 4 hopefully
No but a lot of the talent behind Prime and DKCR 1 have went off to Armature and Gearbox including every single lead on Prime 1-3. The only things they have done in the past five years are co-Develop Mario Kart 7, Dong Freeze and the DLC for Mario Kart 8 as well.
The new IP idea is probably likely.
Nintendo specifically renews trademarks on that game to ever prevent it from being remade or someone using the name because the co-creator was found to be a pedophile and serving time in Canada. Never mind the Dennis Dyack shitshow.
Literally never ever
I want a new IP.
Its time to move on.
>Gearbox
Only game's Armature has made is that shitty Arkham Origins handheld spinoff, not like we're missing anything.
This
>the co-creator was found to be a pedophile and serving time in Canada
What the hell? Source?
>went to gearbox
Wonder if they fucking regret it so much now
>they made a Metroid Prime trilogy
>people expecting anything other than the third game in their Donkey Kong series
What are they up to? Getting dicked in the ass by Japanese management that's what.
Western relations have gone down the tubes ever since NST's falling out. Now the good few western studios who bought Neotendo's sweet little lie are getting cucked like NLG.
I'll tell you what Retro is working on. Mario Kart 9 and the umpteenth Mini Marios rehash.
Why do you think they made Tropical Freeze? Because they wanted to? LOL
DKCR made bank, so obviously Neotendo forced them to do a follow-up. A follow-up, mind you, that no one was expected or wanted. I remember the disappointment following the E3 2013 reveal. The Best Buy E3 demo events had people playing 3D World, Mario Kart 8 and surprisingly Wind Waker HD, but not one person bothered with TF.
Cue a medicore game bombing in sales and the Neotendrone Defense Force whipping up a contrarian frenzy about how its better than DKC2 just because they had nothing to play on their Wii Us.
Cowbell
It's been more than 3 years since TF was announced, another DKC would have been ready by now.
Not to mention that TF underperformed hard.
They almost made Mega Man X: Prime.
Did you honestly felt smart writing this?
they are working on the next F-Zero game that'll be a launch title for the NX
Some of the artists who worked on DKCR worked on Battleborn.
It's horrifying.

Kenneth McCulloch was a director and co-creator on Eternal Darkness and Too Human. You will never see ED again because of this.
Don't forget Monster Games fucked off after they realised they were never getting a full game to work on and were offered NASCAR by a publisher wanting to bring back those games in a big way (The games they were doing before Nintendo like Dirt To Daytona and Eve Of Destruction. The games that got them signed to do ExciteTruck).
THANK YOU, LIAM ROBERTSON!

He's a wannabe Blackb0nd
That is a lot of autism.
Why the elf?
t. someone who just watched the unseen 64 video about Project HAMMER and thinks Retro is treated the same way
>Western relations have gone down the tubes ever since NST's falling out.
No they haven't, they're better than ever. NST was its own stupidity, Nintendo's failure to manage them doesn't apply to their other Western Studios
>Now the good few western studios who bought Neotendo's sweet little lie are getting cucked like NLG.
What lie? NLG was probably fucking ecstatic when they heard they were going to be working on a new Metroid game, I feel sorry for the developers for the (justifiable) backlash.
>I'll tell you what Retro is working on. Mario Kart 9 and the umpteenth Mini Marios rehash.
If they're assisting with Mario kart 9 they'd be a small co-developer and it wouldn't take away significant staff from their main project.
NST makes the Mario vs Donkey Kong games, retard. That's all they do.
>Why do you think they made Tropical Freeze? Because they wanted to? LOL
Yes, they're a Nintendo developer and work on whatever Nintendo dictates. This how the industry works.
>Cue a medicore game bombing in sales
It sold fine, the fuck are you talking about?
>2 follows, yet he still tweets
He's just talking to himself. So fucking pathetic and sad.
That's why he goes on Sup Forums
>I'll tell you what Retro is working on. Mario Kart 9 and the umpteenth Mini Marios rehash
Why are you lying. They already announced a new IP long ago for the Wii U, then got pushed back presumably
for NX.
>They already announced a new IP long ago for the Wii U, then got pushed back presumably
>for NX.
Source?
Not him but signs are pointing to NST being turned into a mobile developer with people leaving as a result.

They've been a small team for years now, since the Project HAMMER fallout. Them shifting to making shitty mobile games makes sense.
a wii u game that got delayed for NX
They refuse to unveil any NX games that they're working on.
I didn't mean to say they confirmed it for NX, but this new IP was in development before and during Tropic Freeze, so it makes sense for it to come to the Wii U. But since there hasn't been any word from Retro on the project, I'll put my guess to be for NX by now.
>Dev that made the great 1080 Avalanche is now a mobile game studio
A fate worse than closure
M E T R O I D
T E M P E S T
Excite Bike 64, Wave Race Blue Storm, 1080, and Prime Hunters are their only claims to fame. Kinda a shame they died, would be nice to have a true internal North American development team at Nintendo working on major games.
