These two pioneered the video games medium into 3D

These two pioneered the video games medium into 3D.

GTA 3 had nothing on Ocarina.
Doom, Blood, Half Life, Deus Ex had nothing on Metroid Prime.

Prove me wrong.

There's nothing to prove wrong since you haven't made any points.

What facets of their design made 3D design better? What made them better than other games? Why should they be comparable?

What exactly did Metroid Prime bring to the table?

level design, attention to detail and gameplay

>Doom has nothing on a game that came out more than a decade later

You're retarded. DOOM invented the FPS genre, and showed what can be done with full 3d environments.

better path finding and levels

Literally no games followed Prime's example.

>Doom, Blood
these weren't truly 3d tho
inb4 clueless autismals

Those aren't points, they're facets you need to describe.

Why are the formats of Ocarina of Time and Metroid Prime great? What exactly did they pioneer?

More innovative than Ocarina of Meme

Y-YOU TELL THEM OP

You're just trying to trick people into thinking OOT and Metroid Prime are bad

>N-tards are condemned to live in the past forever.
tasty

>Metroid prime
>Pioneering anything
lol

ITT: braindead consolefags born in 1998 haven't heard of Ultima Underworld.

I love Metroid Prime, but I remember it feeling outdated at release because they opted for an N64 shooter style control scheme instead of the twin stick style popularized by games like Halo.

Ocarina of Time, yes
Metroid Prime, no.

God damn. Nice going dude you just shit on the OP with the simplest questions he should have answered in his first post.

/thread

>GTA 3 had nothing on Ocarina.
But GTA 3 spawned a huge franchise and countless rip offs.

Metroid Prime was literally Megaman Legends except an FPS and you're a fucking retard OP.

I never understood why anyone actually enjoyed Metroid Prime but I had an Xbox as well as a Gamecube so I wasn't a cuck and actually knew what an FPS was.

I'd also played MM legends on N64 and boy golly lock-on strafing in a game with shooting is probably one of the worst sins of game design. may as well be playing a menu base JRPG that doesn't take place in real time.

>I never understood why anyone actually enjoyed Metroid Prime
the lore and sense of exploration and isolation was pretty good

Sup Forums in general isn't very good at discussing game or level design unless it's a multiplayer title with obvious balance issues.

Just ask those kinds of questions and most shitposters will fold.

prove yourself right first

>Metroid Prime pioneered 3D FPS

hard kek

>prove me wrong

I can't

Mario64 pioneered 3D gaming.
OoT showed the world the potential of video games as a medium.

Super Mario 64 was the first 3D I've ever seen, so I still call it the first "3D" game that revolutionized things, personally.

There was nothing like the freedom from GTA III though.

Metroid Prime had nothing on the Descent series.

>Metroid Prime for the Nintendo GameCube
>"pioneered" games in 3d

Wut

bet you were so proud of that b8 weren't u m8? really thought them (You)s would come raining down eh? step it up nu Sup Forums :^)

that game's just a ripoff of system shock
