Give me your honest opinion of this game
Give me your honest opinion of this game
Wasn't great, but I bought it.
Fallout 4 is not an RPG.
it's shit
Shite
It's ok
very mediocre sandbox game, but if you're easily amused with collecting, crafting, and building then you can enjoy it
Didnt even finish it and havent touched it since launch week, what a fucking pile.
why did you buy it when you knew it was shit?
Cons:
-Zero freedom to create and roleplay your own character
-No skills or RPG elements
-The main story is trash
-Some embarrasingly badly written quests (ghoul kid in the fridge, etc.)
-The setting is mostly empty and devoid of anything interesting
Pros:
-Some of the characters are likable (Nick, Hancock, Curie, to name a few)
-It's mindless fun if you just want to go around and shoot things and build towns
-Building robots in Automatron is pretty cool
>role male of female
>melee weapons
>ranged weapons
>armor
>bombs
>leveling system
>questing
>talent tree
>fallout 4 is not an rpg
what the fuck kind of game did the 2 of us play cause it wasnt the same game...
Thought it was great
late game sucks
Shitty streamlined piece of shit made by people who's passion burned out around a decade ago
dialogue is atrocious
It's a stupid forced meme.
>Zero freedom to create and roleplay your own character
>No skills or RPG elements
>The setting is mostly empty and devoid of anything interesting
Why does this game get rightfully bashed for this shit but the witcher doesn't?
>>role male of female
>>melee weapons
>>ranged weapons
>>armor
>>bombs
what? How old are you? What the fuck are you talking about?
>-The setting is mostly empty and devoid of anything interesting
i bet you think new vegas is immersive and crawling with environmental features.
It's not even worth pirating tbqh. I tried it out for a couple of hours and was really disappointed. New Vegas was shit, but this is even worse than that.
Have you ever played an rpg before?
Best game in the series. That is objectively, of course.
did u confuse yourself they little timmy?
love it and am still playing it.
weapons grade shitpost
I really got the feel that the Xbox 360 was your first console, here is your (you) sir
nothing to like about it
Nowhere in his post does it mention NV
Fun as fuck with mods, but not enough sidequests and there's less dialogue options. You really can't enjoy it vanilla unless you have the story DLCs like far harbor and nuka world.
How?
The only decent part was the combat, everything else just wore me down and I still haven't beat it. The DLC is a fucking joke as well.
Curvy CBBE Nora, paired with some of her bitch sarcastic remarks make me rock hard.
As a game is ok, it's a decent shooter/loot hoarder simulator. Combat is the best from the bethesda fallouts, and so is the map, although there's a lot of raider camp -> mutant camp -> gunner camp and so on
Don't acknowledge them
i thought it was kinda fun
Because Witcher isn't an empty sandbox
Better combat/movement
Shitter everything else
Literally not an RPG anymore. Might as well be a corridor shooter.
It's worse than Fallout 4. It's really a waste of time for Bethesda to work on considering how separate it is from the series, like Brotherhood of Steel was.
They got a few things right, though. Better gunplay, though that's not the most important thing in Fallout. The Brotherhood is more zealous than in Fallout 3 where they were generic good guys. The fact that the Enclave or The Master didn't come back is also nice.
I honestly like the chemistry and cooking stations. But the weapons all feel pretty samey and the Power Armors all look too similar.
Settlements are awful, though. I don't know why they thought dedicating such a large portion of their time to it was a wise idea. It's unfun and will definitely not make a return.
Ultimately, it's the worst of the quintet and Fallout 1.5: Resurrection upstages them in a game that's sixteen years old. Bethesda's simply the executives who don't understand what made Total Recall or Robocop a good film and decide to remake it anyways.
Nuka World and Far Harbor demonstrate a surprising amount of self-awareness though. They backpedal harder on the voiced protagonist and offer more choice than in the base game. Bit too late on that unfortunately.
>And so is the map
what are you smoking
3's map is leagues better
Ok this is a lie, somewhat, you do have skills,b obbleheads, skill magazines and perks. This guy is just salty that skills and perks were combined, and dumbed down. You can customize appearance and playstyles like the other fallouts. When I say playstyles I mean stealthy or direct, and of course you have an arsenal of weapons with mods. Melee is viable in this game as well as shooting, the shooting combat has dramatically gotten better.
It's literally
>Find Dungeon
>Kill Raiders/Mutants/Ghouls
>Loot
>Repeat
There is absolutely nothing unique in this game when it comes to exploring.

>i bet you think new vegas is immersive and crawling with environmental features.
Not him but NV is far superior in that department.
Disappointment. Terrible story telling. Terrible game play. Tried hard to cash in on the base builder market while still trying to keep the Fallout 3 fanbase despite changing the dialogue to be something out of a Mass Effect game.
It went from very diverse answers, responses and outcomes to 4 different ways to say Yes.
I was disappointed as soon as I started playing the game, and I gutted through almost 40 hours of it before I couldn't force an interest any longer and realized I just wasted 60 bucks.
combat was ok, otherwise one of the worst games ever made
it was good and fun, then, after couple of hours, game started to repeat itself so obviusly and shameless you think its unintented, then you accept this is intended, find last vault in the glow and uninstall the game disapointed after around 20 hours.
not worth 60$
...
I've never played a Witcher game, but from my understanding you play as a pre-defined character, not one you create yourself. So I wouldn't expect to be able to roleplay a unique character.
It certainly feels like one.
The dlcs are far better than the vanilla game, but it's because bethesda has been listening to feedback mostly.
...
i played nothing but this for 4 months straight and loved it
poles fell for the open world meme too, at least it was kinda interesting
The witcher isnt an rpg either but people like to call it that. In my opinion fallout 4 is more of an rpg than the witcher. At least you get experience, level up, skill sets and upgrades, special skills etc. In fallout 4. The witcher is basically medival bamham.
How did video games reach the point that a nineteen year old 2D video game is more advanced in gameplay and narrative than a 3D game in 2015?
the problem with open world is that when you make such a gigantic world it's hard to fill it with meaningful content. it's much better to have hub worlds because you're going to add as much detail to it as possible before you even move on to the next area.
>Get to choose your sex and fiddle with some stats
>WOW SEE HOW MUCH OF A ROLEPLAYING GAME THIS IS
Are you fucking joking right now, son? Do you know what an RPG actually is?
No they aren't. The only good one was the Mechanist DLC. Far Harbor could have been great but the map was so goddamn empty it got boring fast, and the workshop DLCs are fucking stupid.
The good
>Open world battles are really nice, Vertibirds landing troops everywhere and roaming bands of Rust Devils make it pretty dynamic
>Combat is decent
>Automatron dlc is good
The bad
>Lore was absolutely butchered by this game
>Story is literally just ME3's ending except you decide who you watch the explosion with instead of the color
>Zero RPG elements
>Dialogue choices are a joke (when you return to a merchant quest giver after finishing their quest the 4th option is literally "Maybe" which does the same thing as "No")
>Survival mode took everything bad from FNV Hardcore and ignored everything good, it makes the game into a collection of tedious tasks without adding any noticeable difficulty from very hard. You will have to hotkey purified water and antibiotics to make it barely tolerable because everything makes you thirsty or infects you
nobody cares rpgcodex fuck off
I played it one time fully and reloaded save points to do the alternate endings. Since then have not touched it. I enjoyed it, but I still liked New Vegas better and had more play time with it as well.
people fucking hate choices with consequences.
ESPECIALLY the consequences part.
you can't allow people to think they failed at anything.
See at least those responses are still charming in their own way. Fallout 4 was just the most generic conversations possible for the situation. No charm, no joke, no fun.
fallout 1,2 and even 3\nv are rpgs when you create your cahracter and play a role you imagine, witcher\deus ex are games where you play predefined role, you roleplay as a character but you have freedom acting as a character. fallout 4 is not rpg, its action with rpg elements, you cant roleplay anything except walking crate with loot and gun on it.
I was talking about skill checks, really. Things you can do with your skills to solve problems in ways other than shooting people. And creating your own character is more than just choosing your goddamn hairstyle or how you want to shoot your gun. If you play as a male character, he's going to be a war veteran with a dead wife and missing kid. There's nothing you can do to change this. Unlike every other Fallout where your character can be whatever you want them to be.
Imo WoW's one of the few games that did it right, then again it's an MMO so it should be that way.
Oh I see, this is some form of shitty bait.
@349649376
you don't even deserve a (You)
If you read his comment, he never said it was shit, nor did he say he knew before he purchased it. Assumptions and poor reading skills make us all look like idiots, please try harder in the future.
yes, arguing about what a REAL, DEEP ARE PEE GEE is shitty bait
i'm glad you understand
I have about 500 hours on the game
And it's really ok.
Thats about it.
Fallout 3 and NV are better
an mmo is always updating.
single player RPGs only get DLCs and sometimes expansions. areas, npcs, and quests in the base game do not get polished.
You havent played nuka world yet, I have its spectacular. Truat me if you hated how empty far harbor was you'll love this. Its a smaller map but there's more in it to explore than probably the whole damn game, because it's intricate. Also theres several mods that add great quests to the vanilla game. The best quest mod out there is "Tales of the Commonwealth" it adds so much to the game that it's 100% more worth playing.
How? 4 has so much more to explore, not to mention it's much more diverse, swamps, city, beach, a whole radioactive zone. Fallout 3 looks exactly the same from top to bottom, except for DC
It was good. Lacked content and had the usual Bethesda lack of QA
>asking people on Sup Forums if they unironically purchased fallout 4 even though everyone knew it was going to be shit makes us all look like idiots
don't ever reply to me again
Reminder that you can follow this simple test to determine whether an RPG is good or not.
>You encounter a locked wooden door
>Can you bust down the door with a weapon?
>If you can, you are very likely playing a good RPG
>If you can't, you're probably playing garbage
So charisma perk means nothing to you? You need a certain amount of charisma for speech checks in fallout 4 and there are some. Infact in nuka world theres some robots you hack using your robotics perk tree. Just because its not as much as New Vegas doesnt mean there arent any. There are a lot more skill checks in the dlc than in the vanilla game.
There is nothing of value in those zones besides buildings waiting to be cleaned of the tin can and Raider/Mutant population
>spectacular
But there needs to be stuff on top of that, like bashing the door open will alert enemies, or bashing a box open will destroy some items, otherwise it just trivializes lockpicking
disappointed with it, i found it difficult to get immersed in the setting/world when it just felt like a theme park
Dude the main characters voice breaks the immersion so I can't role play as a gay autistic cat like everyone else xD
...
>you have to pay extra to get access to features that were in previous games!
what a deal
it's okay
6/10
i dunno why it's such a big deal honestly, it's so generic and mediocre, it doesn't do anything paticularly interesting, new, or even good
You can use your lockpick skill, which is a lot more rpish than arbitrarily shooting a door open you innate fuck.
A poor follow up to the previous entries in the series, introducing confusing new restrictions and minigames that no-one particularly asked for or cared about. Middling at best and a failure at worse, it's not worth more than a pick up during steam sales or the bargain bin at your local store. Bethesda continues to fail at seeing what gives the Fallout universe charm and nuance.
...
Stop playing after 15 minutes because I realize it was going to be another boring Fallout game
I give this rating
Fallout 4 6/10
Automatron 5/10
Workshops - -/10
Far harbor 9/10
Nuka world 10/10
It's a nuclear wasteland, why would I not be able to break down the door? I mean sure, if it's a steel hatch I understand- but if I'm carrying an axe around what is there to reasonably stop me from chopping the door down?
Strong 6 weak 7 outta 10.
>Removing alternative options makes the game more of an RPG
I'm swimming in the fucking oxymoron that is your post. It's like saying you become rich by dumping your money in Yahoo stocks.
>what is there to reasonably stop me from chopping the door down?
deep seated fear of splinters everyone in the wasteland carries
So like 3?
>4 answers
>Yes, No, Sarcastic, Question
>All point to the same Yes response anyway
Sure, some RPG faggot
There is no way in hell you can rationalize doing stupid pointless side quests instead of immediately finding Shaun. Shaun is an infant. He needs my attention NOW. Putting aside the blatantly obvious plot twist that Shaun is an old man, there is no realistic way that a concerned parent would willingly forgo the opportunity to find what happened to their child. This goes doubly so if you chose the female character. And in the introduction to the game you and your spouse are happily living together and taking care of Shaun so there is no way you can shove that aside and "roleplay/headcanon pretend" that the character you choose to play as is a terrible parent who does not care or that waking up in the post-war era has changed you or any other bullshit you can make up or that you simply don't want to know.
Because of this very narrow fixed narrative and these very reasons i mentioned above you can not roleplay as anything other than the predetermined character brought forth in the introduction to the game.
Theres a mod for this too anyways
You're literally fucking dumb, the alternate route would be find the key, or use a terminal to open said door.
>There is no way in hell you can rationalize doing stupid pointless side quests instead of immediately finding Shaun
you are a really shitty parent instead of a good one
I haven't beaten it yet, but solid gameplay, decent voice acting, and a lot of stripped RPG elements.
If they had just left in all the RPG elements and made conversations have choices based on the skills you've levelled up (Medicine and Intelligence, for example), and actually have the conversation text say what you're about to say, then it could have been just as good if not better than Fallout New Vegas.
Which is an important point I think, and another place where Fallout 4 fails miserably; You're not supposed to be pre-determined in these games. They continually move towards cinematic narrative instead of the choice of previous entries.
