Can we talk about what we use to hear our videogames?

Can we talk about what we use to hear our videogames?

I have a pair of these coming tomorrow and I can't wait to finally have a decent pair of headphones again. Currently using these shitty Samsung earbuds that came with my phone cause my HD595's snapped into 2 a few weeks ago.

What do you use Sup Forums?

These shitty poorfag speakers.

I have these as the non-fancy version.
Pretty fucking good, only negative point is how much sound they leak outside.
Hope you have a decent DAC+AMP ready, I'm using them in combination with audioengine d1.

Q-Pad Pro 90s - coz recommended by PC Gamer!

In my experience any cheap headphones do even for competitive action games.

I have a Fii0 E10K that I used with my senns which should do the job till I have the disposable income to get a shiit Magni + Modi. Those 2 will have to wait till after the bills get paid.

I have ath-m50's and HD518's. I prefer my m50's, even though they're not really meant for gaming. I guess I just prefer the sound of closed headphones.

Audio Technica's ATH-M40fs

A definitive step-up over my Senn's HD201 but I want to change them soon.

ATH-AD900X. I don't know how they compare to the more frequently recommended AD700Xs, but the 900Xs were cheaper when I bought them.

just got some m50x's as I wanted headphones with a mostly balanced response (though a slightly warmer tone) since I like listening to and making music. They aren't ideal for games as their 'sound space' [not sure what the term for it is] is smaller than other leading headphones (think like the sound is more in your head rather than surrounding you). They can also get a little warm during long sessions, so I might replace the pads.

Sennheiser HD 598 masterrace

Sony MDR-7506
got them cheaper than the MDRV6

...

>buying a DAC when most audio is made digitally anyway
I legitimately don't get this.

Takstar pro 80s with a mic.
AKA hyperX Cloud.

Literally the only "gaymin" headphone that is good.

Not sure if bait or legitimately retarded.

enlighten me, then.

I love my Sennheiser RS 170.

Wireless with great range.

are your ears digital?

Is this the audiophile thread?

I meant that you wouldn't get any extra benefit from an expensive DAC compared to what your PC already provides.

Digital signals need to be converted into physically moving air aka sound waves.
The DAC converts zeroes and ones into an electrical signal which moves the coils in your headphones.
Your ears are analog.
Your mainboard has a cheap shitty DAC, that's why people buy external ones.

I doubt even trained ears would hear a noticeable difference

Have you ever tried it on non-wallmart headphones?
Stop posting.

That depends, what sort of headphones are we talking?

High impedence ones starting from 100 ohms.

I don't know if I have, I only have a mild interest in music listening, and I don't know any audiophiles, even though I know many musicians and home-studio music producers

Only pay for "high-end" headphones if you have a loooot of money to spend. Otherwise try not to, unless you do music they're a waste of fucking money and they barely make a difference

/thread

If your headphones have a microphone attached then they're shit and you should consider castration.

this

even if you do make music there's little reason to go for the extreme high-end market

...

Just got pic related. These things are incredible for the price

Bought a pair of €50 razer kraken and they were a waste of money. Sound like the EXACT same as any other €20 headphones

>razer
there's your problem.

What did they cost?
10 dollars?

who /ATH-M50X/ here

I always knew razer was a fucking meme, just like any other "gaming" device. Could've been any other brand really, but at least €20 to €50 doesn't make a single fucking difference.

$40

all memes aside these are fantastic and the price is pretty reasonable

Apple headset because i'm a rich hipster that get's laid

>orange tip so cops know you aren't gonna shoot them with it

me, I got them on sale at amazon

Basement boys buy some hookers instead of a headset

>Get new set of non-usb headphones
>Front Mic/Speaker ports stop working randomly

these headphones are very good with treble, if you've got them, go to the equalizer and raise the treble, songs can sound amazing with lowered bass and more treble

yeah, that's my one gripe with these headphones; the orange tip lights up when the mic is on. need to get some black paint and cover it

AKG is the worst shit ever, I regret every single one I got, if I were you OP I would cancel that order asap and get something else, a Sennheiser preferably.

DT 990 pro

Not every board has a shit DAC.
MSI has pretty good onboard sound.

...

150$-200$ is the sweet spot for headphones.

This.

Anything higher is pretty obsessive and won't have nearly as much impact. Even music producers won't go that far, as they'd risk alienating most of their listeners if they focused too much on the extreme high-end market.

It might look silly but it's pretty good, also cheap as fuck.

Beyer DT770 Pro Master Race

Had these guys a few years now, mic cord is a bit frayed but still manages to work just as well.

Never EVER gonna pay that much for that shit. Not ever considering I listen to mp3 files, watch youtube/facebook videos and SOME games.

Can confirm, I used to use these until the left speaker died after a couple years' extended use.

The only issue is they're about as comfortable as they look...but for the price, they're great.

I should get proper headphones. I tried some HD600 and it was ok. But I'm looking for something flat of the flat.

I just use the same headphones I listen to moosic with.

Hyper X Cloud 2

They are pretty great imo. Ofc there are better standalone headphones, but I wanted an integrated Mic. Nice touch that I'm able to pull it of so I can use it on the plane to listen to music.

Got the all black one so I don't look like a 12 year old while wearing those outside.

For about 100$ they are pretty nice

Sennheiser 558 w/ foam mod, jack mod, 2.5mm-to-3.5mm adapter, V-Moda BoomPro, and Brainwavz flat velour earpads mounted on adapters, powered by a Creative SoundBlaster e1.

your setup suggests to me that you make music, but that headset says otherwise. What are you doing, user?

Expensive if you can't find a deal, but goddamn are they clear and the velvet is comfy as fuck. Sometimes I just wear them because they feel nice.

dayum son. I don't get why you changed the earpads since the standard ones are pretty good.

>velvet is comfy as fuck

After buying a pair of HD598s like 6 years ago (and still using them for 7+ hours a day, every day) I'll never, ever understand how people can wear headphones that have leather/fake leather or any shitty plastic type material on the ear cups instead of velvet / fabric

They sound great for the price, but they're not really comfortable.
I got a pair for my phone.
For everything else i use pic related

I'm trying soundcloud.com/lemmyrodul

good guess

Ath-M50s with velour ear pads.

best headphones. on my second pair now which ive had to replace the first after 3 years

Why chink headphones here?

For 23 bucks they are pretty damn good. Better than the 60 dollar ones I used before at any rate.

And really fucking comfortable, like damn. Velvet is love, velvet is life.

what the fuck

Forgot pic.

These were $35, sold them and went back to $20 hdr Sonys

...

I don't know shit about audio but i'd like to learn, someone fill me in.

Is it necessary to have both an amplifier and a DAC if you are planning on using it for PC? Say I just want to run a basic 2.0 and also have the ability to plug in a decent headset, do I run a DAC from the computer, then to an amplifier that connects to passive speakers with a headphone jack?

I've had Sennheiser 558's that I got from a sale on Newegg for a few years now and they're pretty nice.

Debating about upgrading or something soon. Any recommendations?

focusrites are a popular choice for home studio producers, so it wasn't much of a guess.
Gave a few of your tracks a quick listen; sounding good so far user - I really like "April"

Can we talk about when Sony Pulse Elites became "rare"?

Because I have seen mother fuckers selling them at $250+ in used condition.

Basically. You don't need anything unless you want to waste money for tiny tiny returns.

Audiophile stuff is a bigger scam than Tim Schafer and Sean Murray combined.

It's my last one, thanks a lot user

in that case why not just get the golds? for ~70

>wanted to get a new headset for pc gaming,
>didn't want to wear a gaming headset when i just want to listen to music
>buy a high dollar table mic and athm50s
>sounds great with great voice quality but if i play too fast everyone can here my keystrokes
>either have to buy a boom stand to bring it away from my keyboard or subdue everyone to keyboard hell when i let the beast out.

PTT nigga.

A bit off topic, but does anybody know a good place to download flac albums?

I still have my old M50s, still sound great but the 10 foot cord is kind of ridiculous.

I had some m50s and then they ripped
There's this problem where a tiny pin breaks and the headphones start bending back on your head causing pressure to the ear

mind you theyre a great pair but I realized something after that happened

A Nice pair of headphones should be like a PC
interchangable upgradable and should sound really nice

IE 770s

if you're ever going to upgrade buy these, any part of these can be swapped out if they break.

Had these for about 4 years now, both hinges are broken, the headpiece is peeling and they are held together with black tape.
Yet, they still sound amazing and I plan on to keep using them till they just end up dying.

>PTT
i'm kind of not very good at video games and i play a lot of stuff that requires using like 20 buttons lately. so having to push a button in the middle of combat to communicate would drop my effectiveness even lower. need a foot pedal or something

You can't even bind it to mouse 4/5 or something?

I use these, too. I had a pair that broke for seemingly no reason, customer service was nice and just sent me a new one and renewed my warranty even since it was done. Really good headphones, they're usually on sale on Amazon if anyone was thinking of picking them up

20€ earbuds
Everything else is a meme

Superlux HD681, cost about £15 ($19)

Fucking amazing, stepped on them and the band broke, just superglued some strap thing I had lying about, sat on them many times accidently but nothing important has broken.

Sound quality is amazing, there's probably better but its the best I've heard from all headphones I've experienced, have yet to let me down

>earbuds

kek

They are no where near as good as the Elites.

Don't you kek at me

yeah but i would have to buy a new mouse, this one is pretty old so maybe it will give up the ghost soon then i could do that.

Lifetime warranty

What should I do when the headphone is too tight? I just bought a new pair, SRH550DJ, the sound is amazing, but it presses against my ears pretty hard, so after 30 minutes I have to take it out to aliviate a bit. This is driving me mad, I simply can't play for a long period of time with it.

cut a toilet roll tube in half and place it around your ears

AKG K142HD, been treating me well for gaming/films/radio and random stuff ever since i got them a couple of years ago or so.

Though most of the time end up using a shitty 30$ headset when playing on pc cause mic.

>creative 4.1 speaker system
>555s
>DT990 pros

the DT990s are probably as far as I'll go. I'm not THAT gullible
