No seriously, if they only added a bit of edge to Reaper it would have been another Shadow the Hedgehog situation and be cringy as fuck.

With Reaper, Blizzard went full on xXxANGELOFDEATHxXx 666_slayer I WILL FEAST ON YOUR SOULS *teleports behind you, draws shotguns* psshh... too easy... DIE DIE DIE

And it actually worked. It's like he is so edgy he goes all the way around and it becomes kinda endearing.

I don't see how anyone with Shotguns in a FPS can be boring.

I'm including Roadhog in this as well.

He is like some bizarre manifestation where the edgelord is mocked and played straight at the same time.
I mean its fun as hell to *teleports behind you* "psh nothing personal kid." just because its stupid as fuck, yet Reaper plays it so close to the vest he actually comes off kinda cool. There is also a sick joy when playing as him, compared to all the other more happy go lucky characters.

Reaper is like post-edge. The character is aware of what it is and plays with all the tropes with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Whoever wrote him either got really lucky with his deviantart OC, or they are a hell of a writer, because they made a pretty entertaining character.

Whatever Mercy did to him, it turned him white.

Everything.

Reaper is the cutest character in Overwatch. This is a fact.

But then again, everyone accuses Reaper of being a grown-up edgy emo kid, not of being all that bright.

This will always be true probably. His entire balance comes from being required to be right next to someone and it's not something that can change with balance patches much unless they really want to destroy the character on purpose or something.

It's not unless the total roster is 12, which even if you take out all defense heroes, would not equate to.
