Some do
rendering hair is wasted resources
diminishing returns
>wasted resources
kek I know what those wireframes represent
Only if you make that shit use CPU power.
what?
you know
It's hard. Making video games in general is hard, coding for games isn't fucking computer magic where I can make the most fantastical, best game ever with all the features come out of my fingertips.
>2016
>guns still don't have mag cap + 1 when you reload
Fuckin' FakeFactory Cinematic Mod.
If dev can't basic to basic everytime they developing games ; optimize their games properly on first place, i dont need that hair rendering shit for now
>2016
>DXMD is still shit to run even with high end hardwares
No, thanks
>CURRENT YEAR
Fuck off, Tumblr.
Don't have to. You're wrong because Madness Returns came out in 2011
Didn't play this one, but the first game was so awful at hair rendering.
I didn't play the first, this game is much better than the reboot one, much better at everything, including the hair simulation
>2016
>deus ex still doesnt have mirrors
embarrassing
they can, but can our pcs and consoles render them at good fps?
As usual, Witcher 3 is the answer. Nvidia Hairworks = based
but they can
>Broken mirrors guys! Dont need reflection right ?
Fuck
...
Geez, I can't believe it's 2016 and games don't have mirrors. Every game should have mirrors now because it's 2016. Have I mentioned it's 2016 yet?
this isn't what hair looks like
Sick of devs designing their games on the top notch expensive meme hardware first and poorly optimizing it at all for mid-low range hardware that the majority of the players have.
They already proved they could with Alice Madness Returns:
youtube.com
Video is in 30FPS because it was uploaded in 2011. The game itself runs at a good 60 on 2013 hardware.
This is the result of project managers of game developers who have no accreditation in any technical field saying that optimisation is one of the lowest priorities because "muh hardware capabilities are exponential nowadays".
Seriously, the list of 2016 AAA titles that have acceptable optimisation is sparse as fuck. Indies don't have these problems but that's because their games look like shit for the most part.
How do the fucking nips bring out a PC port of Dragon's Dogma, a game 4 years old catered for a platform they don't give a fuck about that will conditionally make it a game catered for a niche audience and still provides better resource management. It's embarrassing.
Video games are being created by fashion-driven, latte-drinking limp-wristed faggots instead of the rightful group of social degenerate shitters
and then you turn off contact hardening shadows and suddenly everything is better
also you can crank the game down to medium there's barely a difference
It's better than most games attempts at it.
That's also not what actual people look like. Because it's a video game.
Looks like a hair and hair strands move like a hair. I'm okay with this. No need realistic hair rendering
>Video games are being created by fashion-driven, latte-drinking limp-wristed faggots instead of the rightful group of social degenerate shitters
Oh my fucking God, this. Where are these hipsters coming from
...
oh boy here we go
Nonesense we must go full realistic rendering photorealism until we get 1:1 accurate simulation of hair movement, appearance and color even if it brings the game down to 14FPS
What is this? Looks p good.
and giving me a boner over Lara's outrageously well-rendered buns
even better when wet
>he praised uncharted 4's visuals on Sup Forums
MODS MODS MODS
But Deus Ex: MD has great hair effects.
or accented by snow
>video games still can't render hair
They can, they just often choose not to because it is fucking taxing.
Games still use tons of neat tricks to cover up that current personal hardware still is pretty weak, and it does a pretty good job of this most of the time. Exception being hair for one, japs tend to put a little more focus on it but generally it's hard to get hair right unless you're willing to take a massive performance hit.
Just look at Witcher 3, Geralt's fancy hair tech made many PC's weep.
Video games are 10 years away from rendering wavy or curly hair correctly.
They can do straight hair right, but it's very demanding.
While it is stupid that the new Deus Ex can't have fully proper mirrors, blame the current technological standard of deferred rendering as this will be a problem with all modern games for quite some time until we find a solution to not need to do a complete redraw of the environment just for a reflection as the cost is stupid and causes alot of problems in the pipeline. Forward rendering was GOAT for this purpose (old games) but deffered rendering allows for more fidelity in other aspects. Ultimately the mirrors were an unfortunate tradeoff. If only carmack pulled another "fast inverse square root" to fix the mirror issue than there would be more confetti.
or while running
swimming
...
>doesn't know Uncharted 4
>makes sense because mustard
here we go
Your photos would be a lot more convincing if they were webms so we can see the hair in motion. As it is now it all looks the same.
while wet again,
Carmack is too busy being sued by Bethesda to perform feats of wizardry tho
The problem is that no one has any drive to optimize them as those days are from a bygone era in their eyes due to the abundance of computational resources. We went from making the software work with the limited resource to making the hardware work for the software. Also the current trend for most legitimate optimizers all jumped ship to work on VR.
Long hair is really hard. That's why most female NPCs have a ponytail or bun.
I means in vidya for now till we can photorealistic render it with 60fps
Like , the taxing is too much
Except for education, research, simulation and cgi movie/animation-making.
we're not paying attention to her hair now
pushing,
but it's worth it though, just look at how beautiful that hair is
>video games will never reach this level of detail
name ONE game with good fur rendering
For all the shit this game gets, NDog has the edge to their competitors because they SOLELY optimize their games (to a certain degree) to make SURE their ONE AND ONLY platform can actually play the damn things with graphical fidelity.
holding a chicken,
> I Hate anti-aliasing.
...
Whats worse, being too busy building rockets or getting sued by the company that owns the king of sweet lies?
MSAA kills my frames
FXAA looks like blurry shit
tradeoffs
running while wet,
>pre-rendered footage
i never before noticed the fps count in that image and am now laughing my head off
The Witcher 3's is pretty good
Doesn't mankind divided have tressfx?
and while climbing.
This
>Loading with a half full clip doesn't discard the ammo in that clip
Come on devs
Have you tried super sampling? If the wall is thick, you just bash it with your head hard enough until it breaks, screw the hammer the game gives you to fix shitty aliasing.
It's not that simulating hair isn't possible, it's just incredibly resource hungry at the moment.
He hasn't worked on rockets in years dude. I'm talking like pre 2010s
Yeah but the only res I can run it at is 1900x1200 without too much noticeable fps drops and while it does make aliasing less noticeable, screenshots look a bit worse cause aspect ratio
...
Well thats coz hes working on VR now. Im just saying it as a figure of speech.
I bought ff13 at launch for the hair
Hair is a pain in the ass to animate, it's even a pain int he ass to draw,, so imagine making it into a 3d model and animating each individual strand 100 frames over
>dropping mags
What sort of fucking cowboy outfit are you with?
I honestly think their games are a bit on the shallow side, but Naughty Dog is full of fucking wizards when it comes to graphics. The fact that they got TLoU to run at all on the PS3 is incredible.
Not as noticeable here due to the perspective and angle but then see this screen, the aspect ratio is off, its kinda more noticeable.
No problems in game but all the screenshots I take just look messed up I can't justify using it. And the next highest res drops my fps by 10 or so.
I'm not the only one who sees the aspect ratio is off right?
Everything is just taller looking, cause the added height in the res
Yes, I'm a mustard but I also own a PS3, think it's worth playing the first three games today?
What's wrong? It looks amazing.
...
Downgrades for platforms
Actually its most noticeable here, she looks squished.
So yeah, can't supersample, I just deal with the shitty aliasing because Radeon Settings never works either.
How do you guys notice when AA is on or off? I literally can't tell and I have been playing games on PC since 2001.
oh fuck that was when I tested the next higher res even, it looked even worse than 1080x1200 in screens and dropped my FPS by twice as much
fucking jaggies man just look at tree limbs, fences, edges of flat surfaces, distant trees, distant lines
even more noticeable in motion
What happened to Lara showing off her amazing assets and having unabashedly giant tits?
Do you really have money left for video games after commissioning so much furshit on deviantart?
If the edges in the game look like they will give you a cut just by looking at it the game probably has either shit aliasing or has none at all. If the game looks blurry it probably has the worlds greatest AA ever designed by monkeys.
this
also hair is a meme
>comparing something that is rendered once and never again to something that is being computed in realtime.
There was a whole public discussion and focus on this back in like 00's
Like, if you still don't understand why it isn't feasibly in 2016, you're a fucking newfag to the VIDEO GAMES INDUSTRY and you need to fuck off and lurk more before you ever EVER post again
inb4 the "cervix" retard arrives
didn't like the 2013 game but im loving this one alot
this is honestly pretty good
You pretending to be retarded?
>tfw want to play it so fucking bad but hesitant to buy for $80 especially with all the reports of poor performance
>don't care about the complaints of "weak story" or "NO BOSSES WTFFF!!!" because I fucking love cyberpunk and Deus Ex, know I'll enjoy the game anyways
>only thing that can stop me is lack of optimization
just fucking kill me now
