MGSV did what no other game has done for me. It ruined the whole series so completely and irrevocably that I never want to play a Metal Gear game again. One game, ONE GAME, cast the entire series into such a pointless struggle with coherence that it's no longer worth the effort of trying to make sense of any of it.

MGSV's ending ruined MGS4's ending. Who gives a fuck that Big Boss died peacefully next to The Boss' grave now? He wasn't there when the shit was really hitting the fan so fuck him.

Big Boss in V and the Big Boss that died in 4 are two different people user

Yeah I know which is why I'm so pissed about MGSV. Liquid in MGSV and Solid in Metal Gear (MSX) think they're fighting the real deal Big Boss, but we all know that isn't the case. It just drains all reason and purpose out of it.

Snake is fighting the real Big Boss in the original Metal Gear. Just in a somewhat indirect way, since the physical presence at Outer Heaven turns out to be Venom. But he's still thwarting Big Boss's plans.

MGS4 ruined MGS4's ending. A terrible story. Big Boss coming back was immensely stupid.

People change. Peace Walker Big Boss didn't hold the world hostage either. Big Boss's egocentrism and manipulative behavior are two of his most defining qualities in MG1 and MG2. MGSV is consistent with this, despite how hard it drops the ball elsewhere.
