>For the last 2.5 years, we’ve been in stealth mode, building Aven Colony in Unreal Engine 4.
>· A fully functional day/night cycle, which is tied to a “sol” on Aven Prime (a “sol” is equivalent to one earth week, and “night” is essentially a brief winter season). During the “winter” season, Aven Prime freezes over, and farms will not grow food and solar panels will generate far less electricity.
i keep meaning to try city builder games should i start with banished or cities skylines? or maybe anno i tried 1700 something once but the 3 hour tutorial burnt me out
Jack Scott
Well Banished is more about surviving on few resources and Cities Skylines is about building a city and managing it so it's up to you.
Jason James
>those paths
Looking more like a themepark than a city
Austin Cruz
I better wait for next update to DF
Lincoln Davis
nigger, it looks nothing like the agent based Impression games. if anything it looks more like Anno to me, maybe Cities Skyline.
If you're gonna be a shill atleast do it properly.
Jason Robinson
Thanks, OP. I'll be keeping tabs on that game. I grew up on Caesar, Pharoah and Zeus.
The guild is a great game series but how is it a citybuilder exactly?
Gabriel Roberts
Anno 2070 was a good game
James Bennett
>planetbase style path/connection network
dropped
Nicholas Smith
I assume they share 90% of the target audience, though you can remodel a city in the guild with enough cash, bombs and hired muscle.
Gabriel Smith
Looks like modern Anno clone.
Julian Ortiz
I loved it. to bad the new anno game sucks. Another series I probably have to write off as fucking ruined and dead.
Anthony Cruz
>Lead Developer: Zoe Quinn
DROPPED.
Bentley Lee
i feel like i can already tell that the game is shit because of the path network
also from all the pictures you could have taken you show the one first that ist half road?
Nicholas Cooper
Wait what
Jaxson Jones
...
Elijah Barnes
Banished is trash good for 2-3 hours max till you realize how fundamentally broken it is.
Angel Phillips
>Lola Thought that was point&click porn game?
Jaxson Peterson
I think they meant to put Lola: Wet Empire or that future game where you run a brothel on a spaceship.
Zachary Diaz
Wet Empire is part point & click and part porn studio management sim.
It's incredibly shitty though.
Ryan Brown
Aw yis more city builders
Benjamin Davis
>15 posters >25 replies Hmmm
Juan Gonzalez
>planet is already habitable with trees and grass I'm sick and tired of this shit
Levi Peterson
>futuristic dropped
Isaac Sanders
So this is anno meets banished?
Anthony Thompson
>tfw /cbg/ is dead
And fuck building games that use grid system instead of hex
Kayden Evans
So Planetbase
Camden Young
Anno is much more than "just" a city builder, Cities Skylines on the other hand is much more in depth than Anno when it comes to city building. Banished is somewhere inbetween with an interesting setting and a style I really like.
Christopher Evans
u wot m8?
Colton Davis
See those seawalls? You cant build them.
Cooper Harris
What is this user implying
Gavin Perez
i'm too stupid to build a proper road system and my city always fails because of it
Christian Garcia
Agreed. Sup Forums needs one post per IP in threads
Jeremiah Myers
Well it's got a pretty low bar to beat
Charles Williams
Anno 1404 is all about them production lines Cities is all about them road networks Banished is all about starving and freezing to death in a harsh winter All of them are fine games
Julian Sanders
>its okay to have 24/7 Overwatch, WoW, Ubisoft shill threads but its never okay to post about smaller games!
Isaiah Bailey
wow this blows my mind!
Jacob Miller
Why is the first Tropico in the 1400-1800 category?
Kayden Stewart
I liked it for a single playthrough It just had zero depth
Jeremiah Ross
should i get stronghold HD or stronghold crusader HD
Charles White
I'd go for Stronghold first, it feels more economical and castle building oriented than Crusader. After you're done with that switch to Crusader if you feel like removing kebabs.
Nolan Richardson
Oh wow, it's like the 10 people on Sup Forums that like citybuilders each posted two replies each. Verily agitated my synapses.
as far as I can tell, this is *literally* an Impression game, to the point of being flawed. I never played ceasar/pharoah and the others they made, but this definitely was not the kind of city sim I was used to
it's not bad, translation is a little wacky and it isn't very deep but it was fun and had great music.
Nathaniel Hernandez
It's Lula, not Lola, you uncultured swines. That said, it was indeed shitty
Gabriel Wood
looks absolutely nothing like the games mentioned in the op, seriously kill yourself
Luke Reyes
You all butchered the name, so for the record: They meant to put Wet: The Sexy Empire there. Lula VB is a porn tamagochi. Wet is, despite its sex visuals, a pretty difficult and complex econ sim
Charles Cook
>steampunk
Ugh
Joseph Hill
Just looking at the screenshots makes me feel like I've got tetanus.
Blake Ortiz
>And what simulations can Unreal 4 do? Unreal 4 doesn't replace your game code, dude. It does whatever you tell it to.
Easton Butler
indeed, that's bullshit. Fair part of what makes these games comfortable is the whimsical old timey nature
Matthew Hernandez
Yeah if you want to play a new old fashioned wandering agents and roadblocks sim Lethis got you covered. Little shake ups in your services and supply can totally crash your economy though. Sometimes it quickly recovers, sometimes not.
They also didn't make enough money to fix its shit up and keep supporting it. Something else that reflects Impression games.
Jonathan Cook
you should make sure to get shot
Benjamin Bennett
>Anno is much more than "just" a city builder which makes it annoying
>Cities Skylines on the other hand is much more in depth than Anno when it comes to city building That doesn't mean much. Anno is an economy RTS. If that's the bar you have for city building, fucking Lego bricks will fulfill your needs
Justin Russell
Are you mentally handicapped?
Adrian Lewis
Impression games are just overrated nostalgia, most people jerking over them haven't actually played them in a relatively recent time period, and if they have, they haven't played more than 2-3 missions.
That's not to say impression games are shit, but the unique design of the walker system makes them weird to actually get into. Of course, nostalgia faggots don't remember this and keep praising impression games, then on comes along a new game which is a loveletter carbon copy of impression games, and nostalgia faggots who play it suddenly realize how much they hate the mechanics and all that.
They're enjoyable to play once you get the walker system though.
Wyatt Barnes
>Caesar 3 - Roman >Pharaoh - Egyptian >Zeus - Greek >All >History & Mythology games
and you shill a scifi game.. what the fuck op, you almost gave me hope but it was cancer in disguise.
Luke Kelly
>steampowered no thanks
Zachary Mitchell
Only played Zeus in my childhood and had fond memories of it. Any similar game on steam?
William Powell
>walker system what?
Daniel Edwards
But the setting is sort of irrelevant. The Sierra city builders were pretty distinct in terms of gameplay from the likes of SimCity and AoE.
There hasn't really been anything like them since in terms of similar gameplay.
Caleb Green
Oh shoot, I'm sorry.
Logan Young
>the setting is sort of irrelevant To you. To others it's one of the most defining characteristics of these games
Parker Ortiz
saw some jewtuber with a few hundred thousand views that seemd to enjoy it, he made some long ass series on it whats worse in the new one ? isnt it an improvement ?
havent played the scifi version of anno , i like oldschool and medieval ctb
Nicholas Carter
Lethis has already been posted. It's exact same sort of gameplay.
Colton Brown
You Read : I dont play zeus only because of gameplay. I love the fuckin aestetics The same goes with caesar, it looks like a goddamn eastern european sack of shit and i love it
if i wanted to play >We wuz building space kang pyramids it would be relevant as a setting to choose a scifi ctb?
Cooper Roberts
fml i guess il stick with emperor until someone does someting decent,
Lethis was a letdown
Sebastian Bennett
I read the name as "Le This", expecting some kind of retarded meme post
Brody Miller
N-no one?
Nathan Hughes
Capitalism 1&2 are not city builders by any definition.
Nolan Brown
...
Angel Gutierrez
Like in most city building games, cities need services to be maintained and grow. In impression style games, services come from walkers. Walkers spawn from a service building on any of the adjacent roads and follow it, until they hit an intersection, at which point the path they take is random. All nearby buildings that the walker goes by, get the service. Buildings need their service demands fulfilled every x time or they downgrade/disappear.
So basically, the trick to impression games is to build your cities in loops so as to control the path of walkers and ensure you give all buildings the services they need.
Alexander Flores
that post is playing loose and fast with the concept of city building, including all kinds of econ sims and rts which have a nontrivial base building aspect
Dominic Rogers
proof?
Ian Reed
Not damming off the center lake and turning it into a sewage dumping ground.
Blake Wood
Maxis kind of tried a related approach in SC 2k13. Everything else seem to go probabilistic
Joseph Bailey
not one game on steam that is in that style friend trust me i have been seeking closes i could get was stronghold 1 but thats medieval
Henry Nguyen
Ctrl+S next time
Ryan Phillips
That's what the other half of the island is for
Ryder Baker
I don't want to save the page, I want to post a comment
