Maybe someone doesn't like fantasy settings or extremely slow weighty combat where you're locked into attack animations for periods of time or very poor lock-on mechanics but still wants the basic hunting gameplay that MH offers.

Alternatively, for people who do like MH, why wouldn't people play clones of good games? A clone of a good game can be a good game too and is still worth playing as a result.

Depends, what is the part of MH that you like the most? God Eater is mostly the same as MH except the combat is fast-paced. It also has story and armor is purely crafted for cosmetics. And you have ranged and melee weapons at all times... and waifus? I guess that's all.

Its not bait or a falseflag. I like action games. I need high speed and high mobility. I don't like it when it takes several sections for me to move my weapon and attack only for it to miss because I couldn't properly aim at the enemy in the first place. I want the lock-on mechanics to work like a 3D Zelda game or a Kingdom Hearts game or literally anything that lets me stare at every single enemy (not just boss enemies) 100% of the time in a fight. And I want to be able to attack quickly.

And I wouldn't start it as an MH thread since they'd just think I'm making a Monster Hunter thread.

I'm not even saying MH is bad outright; just that I don't like it and that there's an appeal to GE2 as a result since there are some things I like about MH but are lost on me due to these things.

If you want to play with undub, your best bet is to play the Vita version.

The PS4 and Vita versions are 30FPS while the PC version is 60FPS.
Blood is censored in Resurrection only and while it is censored, the cutscenes censored in the original Burst are now uncensored.

The only good monsters in FU were narga, and the bird wyverns. Plesioth is shit. Lavasioth is shit. That big green dude that just stands there at the top of the tower is shit. The other elder dragons are also shit. The only parts that I miss from FU in the 3ds games is the comfy farm and those weird treasure hunting missions where you just get points.

It's on PC. I don't need another reason not to buy it.

You can have challenge, speed, and a functioning lock-on mechanic at the same time user. See Metal Gear Rising or KHII Final Mix LV1 Critical mode as examples

Excluding turn-based systems, which are their own thing, Souls combat is about as slow as I'm willing to go.

I much prefer Bloodborne over Souls too due to the increased speed and aggression.

Monster Hunter isn't bad, I just don't like it.

Speaking of Dark Souls, I absolutely can not get into the game because it has lock on that makes all attacks from the player and enemies turn towards the target. It removes the positioning and commitment from monster hunter and simplifies everything to just timing and making sure that you won't hit a wall.

Monster Hunter is the exception to the rule with its lack of lock-on.

Nobody locks on in Souls games to aim their attacks, you lock on so that you don't have to constantly manage the camera and so free up your right thumb to use buttons like roll/consumables/weapon switch unless you're a claw grip freak

I've already stated that the vita will have a community due to the experience with all the other MH clone games i've played online, the PS4 will just add it on top.

Why, though?

Enemies lock-on to the player. Because of how lock-on works in this game, it causes enemies to rotate their attack and entire body towards the player mid swing without moving their feet. This is balanced by saying that the player does the same thing to enemies when locked-on, but when not using lock-on it looks jarring, feels unfair, and limits the positioning that you can do. Normally the animations are free until they are locked in right before the swing is finished.

Other than this mechanic I didn't find anything else in the game to be "unfair".
