Sonic shitposting honestly did not get worse since the announcement. We had like six straight months of speculation about Adventure 3 like it was confirmed, rampant Sup Forums posting (I love the comics and all but the amount of comicfags that come out of the woodworks during dry spells is ridiculous), people like Unleashedfag coming into every thread to shit it up, and of course Rouge and Amy lewdposters. Oh yeah, and the obligatory "how do we fix sonic" thread every week, I won't miss that shit. Or e-celeb garbage posters trying to retroactively convince people that even the Genesis games were never good. At the very least now we're actually talking about games and there's some optimism in the air.
Wood Zone, Desert Dazzle, and two of the Sonic 3 2P zones in full single-player 2-act form. I'm almost certain we're getting at least one of these. I don't know why, but I can feel it in my gut. It'd make a lot of sense too, and it'd be a really nice treat for long-time fans.

Try and forget about them all you like but the fangame/hack community has always had a bit of an obsession with "what would this 8-bit level be like if it was actually remade in a decent engine with proper graphics?" so considering who's making this, I could see a Master System level getting in. Or, at least, some heavy references to a GG/MS level or two.

It looks okay but that level looks more like just a playground to mess around in than something with coherent level design. And enemies seem almost completely irrelevant since the stage is so big that you can just ignore them.

By your logic they also like to pretend Chaotix doesn't exist (in fact Iizuka even considers Chaotix non-canon) but we've got the blue ring power-up from it, and heck they allowed obscure references to Daytona USA and Sonic Spinball. Plus they allowed Hidden Palace in Taxman's Sonic 2, something that SEGA themselves would never, EVER do.
Just because they don't reference the 8-bit titles often (or at all really) doesn't mean they've got some vendetta against them. If Taxman and Stealth came to them with a really good Sunset Park Zone 16-bit adaptation, I couldn't see SEGA veto-ing it unless there were genuine legal issues involved or something of that nature.
So what power ups do you think will return? There's already that single ring bonus from Chaotix. Maybe the size changing boxes could come back? I kind of want the Rocket Boots to make an appearance

Most of the power ups in Chaotix only served to impede your progress or were outright useless. The blue ring box was one of the few useful ones so I'm glad they decided on that one.
As for power ups I want, I actually want them to create a new shield. A Wind or Leaf Shield would be fucking amazing.
