He was just trying to save his daughter.
Nier did nothing wrong

I will never understand why people like NIER. I remember the hype when the sequel was announced, so I watched a blind and silent playthrough of the entire game, 100%'d. I don't think I'm an elitist PC user, but the entire time I was playing I thought "this is an example of a console game that people praise?". Lines like "Let's kill this motherfucker!!!" and the melodrama of a mess of a plot. The only thing I actually liked about the game was the hybrid combination of a bullet hell with a hack and slash, but that only lasted like a tiny fraction of the actual game, and never eclipsed the fact that I couldn't get over how unfulfilling, vapid, and bland the game was.
Consoleniggers, what the fuck?
>so I watched
Opinion discarded.
which nier are we talking about
Both
>watched
you poor soul
that's the Master race alright
is this a pasta
>watched
Also I don't remember "Let's kill this motherfucker".
Feels like it.
>this is an example of a weeb game that people praise? Lines like "Let's kill this motherfucker!!!" and the melodrama of a mess of a plot
Fix'd
When you overdose on animu your sense of what constitutes a good plot, dialogue and character drama gets massively fucked.
It's like bronies genuinely believe they watch MLP for the plot.
Wasn't there an interview or something where Taro said Nier was inspired by 9/11 and how people can do awful things if they believe it's the right thing to do from their perspective?
youtube.com
4 minutes in he mentions it.
Will 2B also do nothing wrong?
Caim did LITERALLY nothing wrong.
In a Yoko Taro game?
Nobody's done NOTHING wrong
Unless she drains the cum out of cock, then no. If she fails to do that, then yes.
What a hero, will we ever see him again?
Is that from 2? Still need to get that one.
Nah that's from ending C of 1.
Fuck me, you're right.
So if Drakengard 1 is people do awful things becasue they're insane, and Nier is people doing awful things because they think they're right then what was Drakengard 3?
Two
People doing awful things because they're sluts
>so I watched
Im gonna guess youre a PC gamer, right?
People doing awful things because they're sluts?
FUCK
Maybe it's like an inverse of Nier, Zero seems to be doing awful things at first but it's actually the right thing to do.
That makes sense actually. I wonder how Automata will go. I'm excited to see if Taro can give us yet another angle on a story.
It wasn't his daughter, retard.
You know who was right too? the Flower.
Since they're androids being sent to war I'm gonna guess it's something like people doing awful things because they were ordered to.
>nier thread
>it's just another yoko taro circle jerk
ironic shitposting is still shitposting
>hero
That ain't how you spell psychopath.
Hey man, that's not nice. You hurt his feelings.
Tell that to the thread.
Doesn't matter, he raised and cared for her as his daughter.
Wait, what?
Replicants can't reproduce.
>psychopath
Oh what, so he's crazy just because he enjoys doing heroic deeds?
I don't see how that makes her not his daughter in any way. If they're copies of a father and daughter, are they not still father and daughter? They're mentally and I would assume biologically the same.
By the way, if Replicants can't reproduce, how would humanity continue after their souls are back in? Would they somehow regain their reproductive abilities?
yes
His name isn't fucking Nier
It's Trey
Who's Trey?
His name is Lucky Ted.
>Lucky Ted
So I've played Nier and really liked it. I kinda know what happened at the end of Drakengard that caused the events of Nier to happen.
But is it still worth it to play the Drakengard games? Cause I've heard the gameplay is pretty shit
its part of the experience
Drakengard 1 is a torture gameplay wise, but the story is crazy enough to make having to kill +1000 soldiers with each weapon worth it.
In my opinion, the shittiness of the gameplay in the Drakengard games (1 and 3, I haven't played 2 so I can't say) is greatly exaggerated. I wouldn't call it good but I had a good deal of fun mowing through dudes. And 1 is at least pretty glitch free and runs well. 3 on the other hand, ooh boy.
Selfish grief is no excuse to end the population, let alone to make another suffer in your stead.
Mecha Caim boss fight in Automata.
Here's an actually fixed version with transparency this time.
Makes sense, so they wear blindfolds since they're blindly following orders.
>mfw this will be a bait and switch and the real protagonist is A2
Pasta or not, this game actually does have one of my favorite edgy lines out of any video game. And it's not even canon since they changed it from brother Nier to papa Nier.
>You want me to pity you? You want me to understand your sorrow? I swore an oath to protect my friends and save my daughter and I'll cut down anyone that stands in my way.
Where brother Nier was sympathetic to the Shadowlord's hardships.
His name is Fartcaptain, which is coincidentally also the name of Commander Shepard, the Chosen Undead, the Vault Dweller, the Bhaalspawn and the guy from Dragon Age.
And they take it off when they rebel.
I could see that happening.
That's unacceptable. 2B is hotter than A2. I will not play as the second hottest girl.
Accept it.
Can't wait to see the other character designs in this game.
So, how exactly are there humans to build the machines in Automata if humanity is all dead or dying by the time of Nier?
nobody did anything wrong in NieR, that's the entire point of it.
Yoko Taro mentioned how Drakengard was inspired how weird it is that you always kill people in video games and that the characters must be pretty crazy for doing so.
NieR is base on the idea that killing is justifyable if you have the reason to do it.
youtube.com
I guess some went to the moon instead of taking part in project gestalt.
yes, maybe replicants could reproduce but the outcome would be a lifeless chunk of flesh since they can't pass down a soul they don't have, would definitley be a more interesting reasoning.
It's not really explained why they can't do it though.
No that can't be it.
>The distant future…
>Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing a new type of threat: weapons known as “machine lifeforms.” In the face of this insurmountable threat, mankind is driven from Earth and takes refuge on the Moon.
So humans were driven from Earth after the events of Nier.
in some places the project worked, though apparently there are only very few of them.
The Emil drama CD mentions that he hasn't seen any humans for a while.
Well it's not even clear what happened to Kaine and the young Nier copy after ending E
is not, flat is justice
>not understanding Nier's plot
>calling it bad
I think it was just japan where the project fucked up that badly.
Youre right he was. And then Replicant Nier killed him and doomed humanity
>watch gameplay of Nier
>gameplay looks straight ass
>watch drakengard 3 gameplay
>looks better
>Nier is more popular
How?
Better story and ost. Final boss wasnt a carbon copy of a previous game's final boss
>looks better
Yeah, until the framerate falls to single digits.
>better story
no
>better ost
nope
>no
nope
>nope
no
Drakengard 3's story was shit. Prologue cop outs are always shit. And fuck you, Nier's ost was god tier.
Also, why would I want to fight the grotesque queen a second time when the first game already had her.
We talking Blightown bad? Or is it just a specific moment?
Nier Automata is full of little surprises so far
It's throughout the whole game.
I'd say the final boss of 3 was better than the 1 EXCEPT FOR THAT ONE FUCKING NOTE JESUS CHRIST WHY DID THEY DO THAT?
The nigga committed genocide against the entire human race. L I T E R A L L Y worse than Hitler.
Which one are we talking about again?
The core combat may seem better better but as well as having pretty bad technical issues, the game doesn't have enough variety and soon becomes repetitive.
>killed an entire planet
>two times
nier don't have anything on my boy caim.
Nier
>All those scenes where the shades show sentience
>Weiss says maybe they shouldn't kill them just yet
>Nier just runs up screaming MUH YONAH and kills them without a second thought
To be fair, there's no way he could've known that before the Shadowlords Castle
Everyone in Nier did everything wrong.
Except for Emil. Kalil, and Beepy.
He's not a real hero OR a real human bean!
>yfw beepy returns in Automata
>yfw he's a boss and you have to kill him
Nier literally kills Devola and Popola who over see the Replicant production, which means the real humans, whose souls are shades, can never be recovered and put into the Replicants.
Something like that
he deserve it
KILL ALL MACHINES
>Real Nier takes his daughter back
>Fake Nier gets angry and tries to take his daughter back
>"Do you expect me to have sympathy for you?"
He just wants to see the world.
HE LITERALLY DIDNT EVEN KILL THE BROTHER IT WASNT HIS FAULT
KILL KILL KILL IT
Gideon, please stop posting
AHAHAHAHA
>He was just trying to save his daughter.
and doomed the entire human race in the process
bravo
You are not wrong, Nier, just like drakenard, is fucking trash.
The gameplay sucks, the story is literally built around triggering you just like NTR stories are built around triggering you, the director literally admitted he gives zero shits about gameplay or story and just wants to build emotional peaks for you to react to, like a little girl dying which just happens to be the same little girl you helped at the beginning of the game because LE POWERFUL MOMENT even though wolves attacking after being hunted made no fucking sense since they were the ones who started the fucking thing to begin with and acted like they were the victims but I fucking digress.
This little shithead in pic related is the most stupid director I have ever seen, the worst part is that his autistic fans actually think he makes videogames when in fact he is a mediocre screen writer that has a literal professional novelist which has overseen all his works until NOW (Nier automata will be 100% only yoko taro so you'll finally see his stupidity and flawed writing in full force, boy I'll have a field day with the automata hate threads blaming no one else but platinum by the way ), he literally writes backwards, starting from a super sad ending and then bulding connections that lead to a basic start of the story, adding insane stuff just for the sake of being cool and outwordly, ammassing stereotypes, anime tropes and shock value only for the sake of illiciting a response in people, basing his works off of real world situations like 9/11 because he wants to be "artsy" and discover "the meaning of why people enjoy killing in videogames" and "what happens when 2 parties who think they are right start killing eachother"
>do all the fishing missions
>Hate them at first, but the bantz between Nier, Weiss and the old man were too good to stop
>Get to the final mission
>Excited to show old man my big catch
>mfw he fucking died
Ok.
There is no hidden meaning, there is no complex though, there's a retard who barely got out of school which has a friend working at square enix which is crazy enough to fool his stupid ass games.
This man in the pic has been severely traumatized as a kid by an extremely violent occurrence: His childhood friend fell from a building and got splattered like a glass of jam, do you know what he did after witnessing it? HE FUCKING LAUGHED. This is the mastermind behind Nier and Drakengard, a literal fucktard that gets worshipped by autists that put him on a pedestal.
PS The music in the games is legit good though and I would gladly fuck Zero, Angelus or Kaine.
