Zizek would probably love Mother 3 if he played it.

there is no degree of philosophy in a game, just the degree to which the creators consciously attempt to be philosophical. every game will have a philosophy in it.

do you think he has to avoid things like swimming underwater? I feel like he'd drown with the sniff tick

Gothic, Morrowind, same thing. I'm sure Mike Kirkbride and Sheeshek would get along

Weird. I loved Gothic, but I didn't recall that quote.

It's from the Morrowind intro, Zizek fucked up.

This.

eye divine cybermancy
Plato's cave to be specific

Soma.
Shit makes you think, or feel or some shit.
All I know is that I did not like that feel

Zizek is the man. Good taste OP. I would say Deus Ex is a pretty ponderous series.

But antichamber takes a nose dive off a cliff the second you get the block gun.

No Man's Sky

Isn't that the game where if you fail to hack a door it hacks you back?

Is that Toddy boy?

God tier, you can spend hours talking about these. Soma didn't even have good gameplay, but the story saved it.

Okay tier

Antichamber is only abstract, there's no much discussion apart from the motivational quotes they give you. It's less philosophical and more brain-blower.

Only Bioshock 1 is acceptable in terms of philosophy, the other ones just felt like they were trying to get the same light again.

SP was okay, but it's more of a comedy than a philosophy.

This

I've never played EYE, I've only seen the praise it gets by Sup Forums and the endless threads for it.

How good is it for going blind, and is it worth playing just to search for the philosophy? Is the story really well crafted, or just some concepts that stem from it?

armstrong was a randite

mgs has some nice political philosophy elements

The translation is pretty bad, but it was much worse before it got patched up.
Going in blind is a good idea but reading pic related helps simply because the game doesn't tell you some stuff due to the shitty translation.
Get ready for a lot of "what the fuck is going on, who am I, and what am I doing?" moments but stick with it long enough and it'll "click".
The story is incredibly difficult to describe without spoiling it, so I honestly can't help you there.
It's worth playing just for the plot but the gameplay (read: utter insanity) will probably be what makes you stay.

I have an image compilation of a bunch of before-playing guides for EYE if you want it.

sorry wrong image
also i'm retarded, this is that compilation of guides

Thanks for the info, I'm definitely picking it up now. It sounds like one of those games with a hard surface, but once you start digging it gets better.

If this is the "getting started" guide, I wouldn't mind any other images you have before I start it playing. Sure looks overwhelming though, so I'll have to take my time to read it.

It's more of a guide to use in emergency if you're having trouble figuring out how a certain thing works or what is the best strategy for x

i have a few lore images i'll post for (You), don't worry they're not spoilers

...

...

hope you enjoy the game user, and remember to check your legs often

Gone Home.

It's that moment when you realize it's not actually a game.

Ok, after these I'm forced to start playing. I'm curious to see how you find these in the normal game, since they're not spoilers.

Thanks for the recommendation and the pictures, user. Have some juicy (You)s

Gothic DVD game, lmao. Actually, both of those games were heavily compared in their time, so I wonder if he played them both and simply confused one for another (they came out over a decade ago).

The only right answer, but picture related is a close (and more modern) second.

OG Bioshock is Ayn Rand-tier trash.

>Bullshit! Ultra-failed attack!
Boy, ESLs sometimes use unintentionally hilarious phrases.

All of these are good answers. Talos principle is a lot more obvious about it with text dumps, while others like Xenogears and MGS2 are more subtle and open to interpretation, but there's still some great content in there.

TSP has no deeper meaning other than being an experiment about meta-narrative jokes.

The Beginner's Guide was way more philosophical and meaningful than TSP and explores some very interesting concepts.

But even the game points out how Ayn Rand's ideas hit the shitter really quickly. The working class ended up living really , really poor, and we both know that Rapture isn't a utopia right now.

I'm giving merit to the first bioshock because it was the first one of the trilogy to say "what if we make the city follow some wacky idology?". I'm not giving the next ones credit because they took that same phrase and just slapped other cities/ideologies.

And Infinite's ending proved that they were self aware about it

Half Life 3 is philosophical as fuck

I hate this kind of zigzagging writing.

Bait aside, Its development conundrum, and the kafkatrap valve is stuck in are what make it interesting.

Should they release the game and compete with the impossible expectations? Or leave it hanging forever and disappoint gamers?

Who does Zizmeme (get it?) support in this election?

What zigzagging writing? He's referencing another philosopher, a game (which he confused for Morrowind, but to his defence both games were compared a lot back in the day) and a movie. All of the above are available on Amazon, LibGen, TPB, you name it. It's far from obscure.

Sanders, but even then only as a means to an end

Bioshock

And it's pretty pedestrian, what a surprise.

Specs ops The Line

The beginning of Antichamber was pure magic. After you get the portalgun it just downgrades to good.

Omega Race.

Xenogears

>tfw SJWs ruined games by mandating that everything revolve around arbitrary race, gender, diversity and sexuality politics

I just want to go back to the time when no one cared about that stuff.

Not the most philosophical one out there but definitely an honorable mention.

It's a story that goes beyond good and evil in an established universe in which that it the norm. Instead, it goes into the simple premise that actions have consequences which I believe most people forget about when Kreia lectures you.

Don't Shit Your Pants

which book is this?

The Last of Us

Bioshock

radiohead

They created the alt- right too.

Almost every evil that can be found was a creation of SJWs.

I shit you not lad, the pendulum shift will be biblical.

Fpbp

You can still leglock onto them and drain every drop of sperm in they're balls tho.

I had to watch zizek vids in debate class last year.

Zizek doesn't seem like debate material. Not what I would watch to get better at debates with time constraints

It all started when journalists gave unfair spotlight to those games that had edgy themes. It all went downhill after that.

>literally introduction to philosophy - first class

>expect ontopic topic zizek discussion
instead get videogames

pink floyd

It's for stuff like learning about the Cap K (which draws a lot of evidence from him)

Can you explain what are those hyperactive, amphetamine fueled "debates" about? What's the point of vomiting words at high speeds? For an outsider it's complete fucking madness (I assume you meant the american style of academic debate).

It's a disappointment for me too. It's basically all bullshit. Spreading broke the game. It's like if someone found an exploit in a game but the devs didn't make rules to fix it, they just made it the new strategy.

>TSP has no deeper meaning other than being an experiment about meta-narrative jokes.

It also contrasts free will with determinism in a medium built around offering the illusion of the former within the confines of the later, which is pretty philosophical if you ask me.

bioshock

Is this the shitposting thread?

>Just married a girl on a videogame yesterday
>Game has dating mechanics
>Log on every day and do dates with her
>Do a love party every now and then while our friends watch
>because i'm a guy i have to to write love letters to her every love party and keep it more romantic every time

This is probably more time consuming than an MMO

but more fun since you're actually interacting with a girl I guess

Sad it will probably never be topped.

youtube.com/watch?v=rFgdDS-WmwU

What the fuck.

It's complete BS. There are a bunch of troll meme strategies that make the debate almost impossible to follow for normal people.

The worst part is I know people who can read even faster.

It's not AS bad as it seems though, they read the card titles slowly, which gives you the basic jist of what they say.
