What company had a bigger fall from grace?

What company had a bigger fall from grace?

Valve. The became everything they fought against.

Blizzard.

Your favourite company

Actually, all of them

Sage for company wars

Well at least Nintendo keeps putting out new games.

That's debatable.

Nintendo, all of their new games are shit.

>all
>DKTF

Hmmm buddy totally not shit taste right her

Valve has never made a bad game. Nintendo has made tons of bad games and cash-grabs

Nintendo's had a rough past few years due to the illness and eventual death of a major figure and has spent the last year scrambling and reshuffling its structure. It's hoping to turn things around with the new system after this gen's disappointment was such a wake-up call (though it had its high points.)

Valve just straight-up doesn't care anymore. They haven't since they first dumped us with hats back in 2009. Now they've got key sales, DotA tournaments, and a completely automated approval process for a storefront that they still get a cut of every transaction for. No one there has to lift a finger ever again to die rich.

>Nintendo
>started as a playing card manufacturer
>ended up as one of the most successful video game companies
>still producing great games and hardware AND cards

>valve
>started off as an ambitious developer and created the largest video game distributor on PCs
>ended up scrapping game development in favor of microtransactions and online gambling

You tell me.

Gut Team Silent and everybody shrugs.
Fire your VP and suddenly everyone goes nuts.

They have us the 2010 press conference.

Fall from grace is what OP said. Nintendo failing is debatable, but
>valve
>making new games
>underage gambling

How the hell is that "debatable"?

No matter how bad their games may be now, it's a straight fact that Nintendo is making new games.

Valve has been riding Dota 2 and CSGO's competitive cocks for years now, and they haven't made a single new game since the former's release.

Valve are working on new games. You can say they fell from grace if they release their next games and they all suck. Right now you cant say that

>Valve just straight-up doesn't care anymore. They haven't since they first dumped us with hats back in 2009.
I tried to think of a way to play Devil's Advocate against this, but I really can't. Even their summer stuff is progressively getting worse every year, both the sales and the fun stuff they used to do with them. They probably make more money than ever, yet their giveaways during said summer/winter events get cheaper and cheaper.

Just so weird.

Nintendo fell pretty hard but still delivers games of quality (with exceptions here and there) and the NX along with BotW are technically signs of hope
Valve just stopped making games

Last Nintendo game was released 11 days ago.
Last Valve game was 4 years and 9 days ago.
>debatable
>Valve's last game was before the start of this generation, CSGO could have been a Wii U launch title.

Valve of course
Nintendo's still trying. I would argue they still haven't fallen yet, they're just somewhat out of touch.

Do you even have to ask

> all their new games are shit

Presumably coming from a person who doesn't own a 3ds or Wii U, plays exclusively PC or gritty AAA western games, and thinks that because his taste in games has changed over time, that everything he doesn't like is now objectively shit.

>Sony
>"Look how not MS we are!"
>sells millions of PS4
>doesn't do much to support it
>paid online
>'share' feature
>"We want the PC crowd!"
>don't do anything to keep exclusives
>rehashing last gen games
>killing their handheld market by not marketing it and charging for expensive memory
>allow their PSnow platform to come to PC

Bought a PS4, will be the last thing I do to support them.

Valve was given a free ride by every single one of those idiots who belched "COMPANIES EXIST TO MAKE MONEY" every time someone criticized their more and more dubious decisions. They had rabid defenders convinced they could do no wrong and were the most revered company in gaming for pretty much all of seventh-gen.

It went to their heads and they abandoned every single one of their ideals for the "prestige" of eSports and quick buck of microtransactions. And now that they have an _effective_ monopoly on the PC market, they've cashed out for good.

This Nintendo has games released as of recent and still things planned for the future Vale is just nothing.

Nintendo literally has released the same Mario game for over a decade now as something new by adding gimmicks instead of making something new and innovative

I can't even say I care all that much about the microtransactions, or the eSports stuff. It was just a way to make money.

The fact that they did those giveaways, and honestly seemed to try to make fun events for people that you could play for nothing? That kept them grounded in my mind. They did things they had to for shareholders, but at their core they were still a fun loving company that just wanted their audience to enjoy gaming.

It really doesn't seem that way now though, and it's sad the more that I think about it.

Valve. They don't even make games anymore. At least Nintendo tries even if they do fall flat on their face sometimes.

Nintendo feels pressured by how bad the Wii U performed and all the negativity that surrounds them leading them to actually make attempts to perform a rebound.

Valve feels no pressure whatsoever due to the profit they make on a regular basis thanks to eSports and Steam. They are so virtually immortal at this point that they can just doze off.

Valve doesn't have shareholders, at least not anyone who doesn't already work there. They're privately-owned, and Gabe himself still retains a 51% stake in the whole company.

Every single bad decision the company has made has been on themselves and themselves alone. They didn't have to appease a single investor and still screwed the pooch.

Nintendo literally published 51 games, and developed the vast majority of those in-house, on the Wii U. On the 3DS, the list measures in the hundreds.

Suggesting that making new variants of New Super Mario Bros--ONE game out of dozens that, mind you, continues to sell like hotcakes--means that Nintendo is lazy and doesn't have variety is fucking stupid.

Konami
Nintendo
Valve
Insomniac
Bungie
Capcom (debatable)
Bethesda
Volition
Bioware
DICE
R*
Epic
Naughty Dog

These are all developers that I used to like to varying degrees but mostly hate now. I think DICE had the biggest fall from grace. DICE went from making innovative tactical shooters that they supported for 10 years into making yearly cash cow console shooters that suck dick and make cod look like ro2.

Valve. No contest.

Nintendo had the bigger fall because they've had much higher peaks over the years, but comparatively, Valve is lower at the moment.

ITT: faggots sucking Nintendo's cock again

Was Bethesda ever good?

>Best Platformer of the gen
>Best arcade racer of the gen
>Best 3rd person action of the gen

Nintendo had a wake up call and is making an effort to change. And they're at least still making games.

Valve hasn't done shit in years and most likely never will.

It's not like Valve has anything redeemable about them at the moment. Ooh, they're getting in on the eSports fad. Big fuckin' whoop.

Depends on your perspective, but I think a lot of people would consider Morrowind to Skyrim as a fall from grace.

Nigga, Nintendo fell like shit but Valve just fell harder.

A CHALLENGER APPEARS

>only platformer of the gen
>only arcade racer of the gen
>what is ys

ftfy

>"I know, I'll make a thread where people have to bash Nintendo!"
>barely anyone does
>"Nintendrones!"

Never change sonyggers.

what do you count as new? also, Splatoon is 9/10 kys

They had so many IP's I adored that are dead now.

That's extremely sad. I thought they were publicly traded. I care a more about the microtransactions now, as they're being exceptionally greedy with their models regarding it. Still don't care about their pushes into eSports though, as they're at least doing a better job with it than Riot.

The fact that they're completely private and have let their events go to shit is seriously disheartening though. I really thought they were just being squeezed to not push for doing the fun events anymore.

Dumbass

Anything that has Mario in the title but isn't a main series game. Nothing else exists. NOTHING! PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN. PAPER MARIO IS AWFUL AND THAT'S THEIR ONLY GAME!

SONY WINS
SONY WINS
SONY WINS FOREVER
I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALA

Nintendo's like a man trying to avoid death and not repeating the mistakes that got himself into a mess.
Valve's like a lazy fat fuck with expensive as fuck life support machines that would keep him alive no matter
SEGA's a bunch a scrambled ashes in a Urn

What makes you think those people are Sonyggers?

Simple, they're the only ones without games to play that have to shit post and start console/platform wars on Sup Forums.

...

>Valve makes no games
>Nintendo makes games

And then you're here too.

the wrong kid died god dammit

Valve's worst crime is that they stopped making games. Anything else they did they usually reversed or made bearable.

Nintendo ruined multiple franchises and turned the rest into casual shovelware. I think they'r far worse.

Sonyboys love to bash on Nintendo. It lets them distract from the fact that their best-selling system barely has any games on it while the actual one worth owning this gen came in third sales-wise.

Funny how their perspective on sales versus quality changed from the PS3 vs. Wii days.

There were a great deal of good SNES/N64 titles during those periods too dude. If Sega had come out on top, and Nintendo was belly up, it doesn't necessarily mean we'd be getting great titles from Sega right now.

>He still thinks it's 2008

>Valve has never made a bad game
What is dota and csgo?

Again, what makes you think only sony fans dislike Nintendo? What if a third party dislikes both Sony and the big N?

>the wiiu is the only system with games this gen

Give me a break.

The coffin and the tombstone

>>what is ys
shit

Valve has since ruined those good games for the sake of cashgrabs.

HATS

name me 10 good games that sega has made since 2008

Games that regularly have 100k to 500k people playing them every day?

Fair enough. The most prominent shitflinging has always been Nintendo vs. Sony, though. At least in the post-SEGA days.

>working on new games
Source?

Why the fuck is Half Life 3 taking so long? Did they even start? Fuck Valve.

and?

Hard to say, since they've both declined pretty quietly from a long way down. Valve's fall is much more insidious though. Nintendo is merely failing more than anything. Valve is just silently degenerating while doing nothing.

So does Candy Crush. You really gonna play that card?

I'm just saying: you guys constantly claim that Splatoon is the best game ever made because it sold 3 million units. So why can't DOTA2 and CS:GO get the same defense?

Whether or not they started, they'll never finish. Not only have they more than once expressed actual disinterest in the series since, Half-Life's writer Marc Laidlaw has up and left the company out of frustration.

Half-Life is dead and it's never coming back.

Konami

I liked splatoon because it was fun. Why would I ever use sales as an argument?

No one ever said it's the best game ever made. People praise it because getting literally 40% of the system's entire install-base to buy it is pretty damn good, especially with the constant stigma that Nintendo never makes new IPs anymore.

There was actually a big timeline someone made a year or so back that showed every first-or-second-party game Nintendo ever made, and there's been a lot of new IPs from the Wii onward. They just weren't Splatoon big.

>People used to think like this

This user gets it. They discovered too many winning formulas and can now "do no wrong" because money and monopoly.

>half life literally had a half life.
>left 4 dead was literally left for dead.
really makes you think.......

Valve. I don't even know what the hell happened. Everything was fantastic with amazing games being released on a regular basis then suddenly: nothing.

Despite the WiiU being a failed system, the software is still fantastic, and the 3DS is my favorite handheld system yet from them so in my mind they haven't fallen one bit. Just failed on several fronts by making shitty business decisions.

They were convincing. It was effectively true at the time, though time has proven that ultimately very wrong.

Valve. I give em two years before they start charging for multiplayer.

The fat man said himself that they were more interested in making multiplayer games than single player, which pretty much told me that they would rather milk the fuck out of hats. I'm expecting them to fuck l4d3 with some form of cosmetic bullshit and then blame the fans for not liking them.

Dorkly is run by a bunch of windowlickers.
You should just ignore them.

name 10 video game companies that are still good. you fucking cant

hard mode: no japanese companies

Konami.

Indisputable fact.

Because Splatoon isn't taking content created by the userbase and then selling it for cash to said userbase.

Also DOTA2 and CS:GO are both mods of other games that Valve did not create (Though the valve did build the engine that the latter was built from.) Splatoon was built from the ground up.

Not to mention the steam store is flooded with retarded "greenlight" titles. I'm fine with indie games and all but the level of quality is detestable.

They would lose money if they did that.

>I liked splatoon because it was fun.
>a good portion of the install-base got into it

Yes, and? 500,000 people gave overwhelmingly positive reviews for both CS:GO and DOTA2, and that's at least 1/10 of every single person who plays on steam. Are you saying they're wrong?

>Because Splatoon isn't taking content created by the userbase and then selling it for cash to said userbase.
And guess who gets that cash? the people who made the content. What, nobody is allowed to submit work, or get money for their hard work?

This was mostly true in the past though.

>Valve used to be cool, early TF2 updates and ARGs were the top hype shit
>Remember getting into tin-foil hat threads about future updates and trying to decipher puzzles, following red hearing and getting stuck in dead ends with people on Sup Forums, having fun spanning multiple threads
>Mfw Valve now

Is it because Gabe's getting old now ? Does he just not care anymore ?

Sony was never graceful. Since their beginnings, they were always ruining gaming.

Splatoon is a good game period. Not because it sold a lot relative to the system its on.

You can't sell skins and hats with half life 3. No joke, that is the reason.

So what you're saying is that DOTA2 isn't a good game, and neither is CS:GO? Because you're in the minority when you say that.

Either that, or too many years having people shitpost against him I guess. So either age as well as general fatigue from the company, or the Internet broke him over time. Maybe a combination. Sad either way.

Let's put it this way. Valve hasn't released a new game since before the Wii U even CAME OUT. Wii U still had several stellar games to its name in its troubled life.
