Are any of the post-Westwood C&C games good?

Are any of the post-Westwood C&C games good?

Yes
RA3

generals is the best cnc game ever made

Red Alert 2 is the best game in the series.
Generals is amazing.
C&C 3 and RA 3 are also amazing games and the only C&C games with actually interesting multiplayer and not a tank-spam simulator.

Fuckin r8 m8. One of their last good games.

yeah this and sim city 4 were the jam

Generals was the last good game. 3 was mediocre at best and everything after that is pure shit.

EA had a better track record with C&C than Westwood. They only fucked up with 4, every other game was at least great.

That is some top tier bait. Your next line is spore was not a bad game

Kill yourself.

You don't joke around with westwood.

Kill yourself.

Not him but I think the writing was on the wall with RA3, it didn't have the same magic as RA2, despite their attempts to return to a quirky setting.

>You don't joke around with westwood.

>Westwood games:
C&C, RA, TibSun, Emperor Battle for Dune, Universe at War, Grey Goo, 8bit Armies, 8bit Hordes.

>EA LA games:
RA 2, Generals, BFME 1 & 2, C&C 3, RA 3, C&C 4, Bastion, Transistor, BF4.

Now tell me the former is a better track record than the latter.

>Red Alert 2 is the best game in the series.
tiberuim sum is my fav, but RA2 is the last good C&C game

Why?

I don't really need to say anything about RA2.

Generals was excellent (post ZH) and had probably the best multiplayer of the series. Single player content was lacking but the Generals Challenge was top fucking notch.

C&C3KW is the best game on average. It had a great campaign, great multiplayer and an awesome expansion that fixed TS continuity issues. Doesn't really stand out in any category but it was fucking solid.

RA3 wasn't as good but the gameplay was still there. I rather pick it up and play than any other modern RTS game like Deserts if Kharak or Grey Goo. The writing was off in my opinion and it never really caught the magic that RA2 had but cooping the campaign was fun. Multiplayer was also pretty good until patches made it fucked.

And then of course C&C4 was terrible.

Meanwhile WW's only stellar game C&C was TS, and even that game had a really fucking wonky multiplayer with balance all around. TD/RA were great games but I rather play a match of Gen/C&C3 over them any day since MP is much more interesting mechanically wise.

RA2 was Westwood though

Damn. I liked Generals and Zero Hour.

Avoid cnc4 like the plague. ra3 is divisive, personally i dont like it. All the other ones are great

It was called Westwood Pacifc which most know as EALA because they changed names right around that time. The same studio that did Generals, C&C3, the BFME games and RA3.

Not a single bit. They used the Westwood engine (so do all of EALA's RTS games, C&C4 included) and that was it, the game was made by that guy that later on worked on Generals and Starcraft 2.
The studio that made Red Alert 2 was an EA studio renamed Westwood Pacific and made work on C&C alongside Westwood. This studio later became known as EA LA.

Westwood did TibSun, then Emperor, then they got on Renegade and promptly went away to form Petroglyph.

It has been said that many of the westwood employees had not left until after ra2

Man, I remember going over to drink when I was like 15/16 or some shit, getting a good buzz then my mates older brother comes in, hands me a laptop and says 'bet you can't beat me at Red Alert 2.'
Little did he know that I'd played the shit out of that game through primary school and wiped him the fuck out. Good times, I haven't had nearly as much fun with an RTS since the first Company of Heroes game.

But that was a different studio you dork.
And they've had some people up until Zero Hour if you want to be peckish.

Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge are not Westwood games just like Generals 2 wasn't a Bioware game.

C&C3 was OK.

>generals challenge
>on hard
>against superweapon
>a group of comanches sitting just outside your view
>if you enter their range they wreck your whole base
>have to build your base around them while also making sure auroras can only take out one building at a time

I never made it past that blond bitch on hard.

You know, I always thought that skyscrapers placed on corners of raised terrain like that must be frequent suicide spots in the city.

If you survive past the first 10-15 minutes you should be fine. But those first few minutes are bullshit. You have to know the exact order of her attacks if you want to have a chance of stopping her. She even sends in ground units from outside the map behind you

You have 10 seconds to explain to me why you're not playing OpenRA at this instant.

The multiplayer in old C&C games wasn't all that great. Crafts were better and so was AoE, which triumphed over both in my personal opinion.

I'm still salty that they scrapped Generals 2. Just fucking make an HD re-release of the original and port it to Origin.

Generals is on origin, all cnc games are.

With multiplayer solutions that required community patches. It is very different from a new remake that could get new blood in.

But then again it won't matter, it'd have to hit Steam to have a good impact and EA won't make that ever happen.

>Bastion and Transistor...

... no comment boy.
