Games where you have to gather a group of items or where you have to go to certain places? To clarify my question, something like what you have to do in these games:
>Final fantasy I, II, III, IV, V (you have to gather crystals or go to the crystal shrines) >Earthbound (you have to go to "your sanctuaries" and record the melodies) >Seiken densetsu 3 (you have to find the 8 spirits and the 8 stones) >Golden sun (you have to go to the 4 lighthouses)
Are there more games where you have to do similar things? I really like plots like these.
Maybe something like Metroid where you have to get power up in order to progress?

Aaron Robinson
I saw him a couple weeks ago in a nostalgia thread I think. He popped in but then the thread got promptly deleted, probably because mods hate it when people reminisce about old Sup Forums.
Evan Cox

Hmm, i thought you meant somethng more like Bioware's "pillars" design where you have like 4 or so main quest areas to get a certain thing. I guess those are just macguffins.
Evan Watson

Bentley Wilson

Ryan Diaz
If you mean pillars like the ones in Legacy of Kain, they also fall in that category. Some of them are mcguffins and some are not.
