Just finished this.

Why aren't more games as fun__ as this?

It's hard to beat Platinum games at making pure fun action games. I will cry for the sequel we will never get instead of mg Survive.
Also pic related is my face when people tell me Revengence is less canon than mgsv.

Got this for like $6 at a Giant Tiger one day as an impulse buy.
Definitely more than worth it

Make sure you play Vanquish next.

We might just see a Revengeance 2 now that Konami wants to do more with the series they said

As long as they make Blade Wolf playable in the main game I'll be happy.

Fun, but incredibely shallow in terms of combat compared to games like Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta. Only le cuhrayzey xD youngfags are impressed by this 6.5/10 game.

MGRR is mediocre

Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry and many other series do combat much better. The fighting feels pretty repetitive in this game. Hell, even God of War has more combat variety than MGRR. MGRR also felt boringly easy compared to many other games in the genre. I never got stuck for more than an hour at any point in the game when I tried Revengeance mode, but most fights took me 2 or 3 tries to win (Including Jetstream Sam).

I had fun with it though. 7/10.

>MFW I remember all the controllers 13-year old me broke attempting to beat NG Black when it came out

I went through 3 of them, NG was punishing, but the satisfaction after beating it was completely worth the sacrifice.

nobody cares about your shitty opinion you beaner

Did you get the free DLC?

Games can't be as fun as this because where's the story man?!

Fucking casuals ruined everything. Fucking lazy-asses can't read books.

>Literally bought for the memes
>Got so amazed at how much fun the game was and that sick ost
This game would be a 10/10 if the mechanics weren't easy to cheese. Seriously.

GOTY 2013 for sure

A 7/10 isn't mediocre, retard.

Fun is a buzzword.

it's one of platinum's weaker games (very short, not much depth), but god damn, it sure is fun.

MGR's mechanics aren't very in-depth, but it's one of the best feeling games I've ever played. That's definitely worth something.

Because most games take themselves very seriously in overall tone. MGR makes it very clear from the get go that this shit is 100% ridiculous and everyone continuously hams it. Raiden starts from being the snarky weeb (not actual weeb but you know what kind of person I mean) to full cheese, then loops right back around to snarky weeb with some cheese here and there.

The real appeal is instrumentals that phase into vocals when the fights get real good

It's a labor of love, the last great thing by kojima. It was made for fun, not overly complex story

>kojima

>I was only twenty three years old
>I loved Bladewolf so much, I owned all the DLC and S ranked everything
>I pray to Bladewolf every night, thanking him for the life I have been given
>"Bladewolf is love", I say, "Bladewolf is life"
>Senator Armstrong hears me and calls me a pansy
>He is obviously jealous of my devotion to Bladewolf
>I called him batshit insane
>He slaps me and sends me to my room
>I am crying now, because my face hurts
>I go into my bed and it is very cold
>I feel a warmth moving towards me
>I feel something touch me
>It's Bladewolf
>I am so happy
>He whispers into my ear, "Combination Attack."
>He grabs me with his powerful robot paws and puts me on my hands and knees
>I'm ready
>I spread my ass cheeks for Bladewolf
>He penetrates my butthole
>It hurts so much, but I do it for Bladewolf
>I can feel my anus tearing as my eyes start to water
>I push against his force
>I want to please Bladewolf
>He howls a mighty howl as he fills my butt with his Nanopaste.
>Senator Armstrong walks in
>Bladewolf looks him deep in the eyes and says, "I'm my own master now."
>Bladewolf leaves through my window
>Bladewolf is love, Bladewolf is life

Buzzword is a buzzword.

MGR has a laughable story, a garbage soundtrack, and piss-poor simplistic gameplay (all the coolest shit happens in a QTE). For that matter, most of Platinum's """""character action"""" games are pretty putrid and they do their best work when they experiment.

But everyone here is correct when they say that MGR manages to be insanely fun because it's still a guilty pleasure of mine.

>hear about all the memes from MGR from Sup Forums
>everybody always mentioning Rules of Nature and I'm My Own Master Now
>pretty familiar with the lyrics at this point even if I don't know the music to put them to
>get that nice little moment of recognition for each fight
>nobody ever fucking mentions Stranger I Remain
>fight Mistral
>vocals

Game clicked right there for me. I thought I knew what to expect, I was not prepared for it. 10/10 soundtrack, it's cheesy as fuck but really good background music for lifting.

Stranger I Remain and Red Sun are consistently my favorites. They're horribly underrated.

The beginning buildup of A Stranger I Remain is the coolest fucking shit, but I do think it has one of the weaker vocal sections.

Most games range in quality between 6/10 - 8/10

If 7/10 is an average score for a game, then how is it not mediocre?

>not actual weeb but you know what kind of person I mean

Well he is a bit, in one of the codecs he talks about how when he got his sword he began to obsess over books and movies about samurai.

>Stranger I Remain
Mein Nigger
The original is shit, the one they used in the game is the thing.
>mfw Mistral's the most underrated of the bunch

Because that's not how it works faggot

5/10 is mediocre
6/10 is average
7/10 is good
8/10 is great
9/10 is fantastic
10/10 - no such thing exists

I'd think a straight 70% is mediocre, but maybe that's just school speaking.

>Sam DLC on Revegeance difficulty.
Am I just a shitter or something?

Also fuck that 2nd VR mission.

>falling into a collapsing pile of pipes that are on fire while fighting some hentai cyborg lady
>~I found what I was looking for~
>"Don't FUCK with me, boy!"
>~A stranger in an even stranger war~

>hate metal gear
>hate weeb shit
>hear "STANDING HERE" in a random soundtrack thread
>buy the game because I liked that so much
>end up S ranking the whole thing and loving it

Honestly if it weren't for the soundtrack this game would be average at best. Anyone who thinks a soundtrack can't make or break a game is full of shit.

A game has to be playable to be mediocre. 5/10 games are not playable. A 5/10 is a fucking F (IE a failure).

I just love that the soundtrack isn't afraid to go full edgelord.
It'd be exhausting if every damn game did it, but it works perfectly for the over the top adventure of MGR. Plus the way the vocals kick in during later parts of a fight is simple but brilliant.
Stains of Time and Hot Wind Blowing are still the best.

HOW THE FUCK DO I GET PAST SAM WHEN HE LOSES HIS SWORD AND BATTLES YOU WITH HIS BARE HANDS

I KEEP BLOCKING HIS ATTACKS FOR LIKE AN HOUR AND THE FIGHT ISN'T PROGRESSING.

Really pissed me off that she showed feelings towards the guy in the final transmission.
Ruined her character for me.
Ah ti tupoi sukin sin

It thought it was kinda cute.

As an aside, I liked how Mistral's tits are a minor plot point.

>he didn't take the Offensive Defense upgrade

wew 2 (You)

>Stains of Time
HERE I STAND BENEATH THE WARM AND SOOTHING RAIN

Offensive defensive, you shouldn't parry every single fucking move in the game.

>garbage soundtrack
What is wrong with you

I am finding the new Attack on Titan game to be fun

It's edgy highschool shit family.

Fun to listen to with a certain sense of irony and abandon but objectively terrible.

I mean why that guy of all people.
Have her lusting over Sam's dick or something.
The Ivan had only like 10 seconds overall.
THE CHOCOLATES ARE FALLING GENTLY DOWN ON THE TERRAIN

THE DROPLETS FALLING GENTLY DOWN ON THE TERRAIN

Bladewolf best waifu.

>objectively terrible
>sounds cool
>makes me smile when I hear it
I don't get objectivity.

To put it into perspective, Resident Evil 5 is a pretty shitty game all around but the things it did right, it did so well that I still enjoy it even if I can't objectively say it was a great game or anything because it shat on a lot of Resi fans and had a bad story and was short, etc.

MGR and its soundtrack is the same way. Musically, it's really basal and angsty and generic, but there comes a point where you can say "maybe I just don't give a shit" and learn to enjoy it anyways because it's still catchy "hype" music that gets you pumped.

>The Ivan had only like 10 seconds overall.
If you had paid attention to the conversation, even Raiden quickly picked up that Mistral wasn't talking to/about the Russkie. She was talking to/about Armstrong.

WASH AWAY THE SORROWS, ALL THE STAINS OF TIME

>Fun to listen to with a certain sense of irony and abandon
You just admited it is fun

Whoever thought of the idea to only have the vocals kick in during the last phase is a genius. It makes the fights have so much more impact.
Top 3 songs are Stains of Time, I'm My own Master Now and A stranger I remain but I still listen to all the boss themes.

>"I'M FUCKING INVINCIBLE"
>dies

What did they meme by this?

BUT THERE'S NO MEMORY IT'S ONLY DRY INSIDE.

They should have made Sundowner harder. Imo the easiest of the Winds.

Dunno, I feel like if something is almost universally considered to be catchy and enjoyable, it's probably objectively got something going for it.
I guess I can understand that it's probably not as good out of the context of MGR's ridiculousness, but whether or not that really means anything is subjective.

I agree he should've been harder, but I still think Mistral is easier.
He's definitely a step down from Monsoon though.

Restart that fight and DON'T make him drop his sword.

Enter and exit blade mode quick, don't swing your sword at all

Just watched it again.
My whole existence was a lie.
What really made me believe that it was towards the guy is that he was almost tearing up during the transmission.
Really should replay the game.

He was the fucking tank of the Winds of Destruction yet his health was terribly low.

STANDING HERE
I REALIZE

Monsoon is the most satisfying boss to face for me. He's there to see if you are good at parrying yet.

>best music
>stupid one liners
>has an ability that directly counters your own
>memes
Ye.

IN THE MUD AND SINKING DEEPER

YOU'RE JUST LIKE ME

The guy believed it too. Poor Ivan died thinking that his waifu had loved him.

Is Armstrong the best final boss ever made yet?

That fucking buildup in A Stranger I Remain gets me bat shit insane every time.

>tfw you finally beat VR mission 18

>tfw blade wolf figure never

I FINALLY FOUND WHAT
IIIIIIIIIIIIII
WAS
LOOOOOOOOOO
KING FOR

That game is so mediocre that I punched a wall while playing it, I seriously think the people praising it are brainwashed to the bones.

I'm not normally much of a figure person. But a Wolf or Monsoon figure would make me go diamond hard instantly.

>can't play as Sam in the main game

Sucks desu.

I know the chances of this getting a sequel are zero since that'd require effort on Konami's part, but what could a sequel even be about?

Yeah.
Was it like a transmission he also picked up or was it just a last gasp kind of thing though? Cause if she was just saying all this into nothingness it's kinda sad.

I guess Raiden's Bizarre adventures after leaving Maverick. Maybe him going to defeat other world threatening the world. For a sequel I would want Raiden, Wolf and Sam all playable in the main game. You know they would find a way to bring Sam back.

the only fig i actually own is raiden, id cough up 100 easily for any of the other bosses, too bad itll never happen

*defeat other companies threatening the world.
typo.

>You will never hotglue Blade Wolf

>what could a sequel even be about?
Maybe a prequel as Sam

IIRC it isn't explicitly clear if Armstrong received the transmission. Saying it into nothingness is sad but it also fits the nihilistic themes the Winds have.

>red sun
>the vocals for Rules of Nature and Stains of time annoyed me
>get to Sundowner
>lyrics kick in
>WHEN THE WIND IS SLOW
I fucking love deep melodic vocals

Hot-gluing would be an insult to Blade Wolf's beauty.

She wanted Armstrongs dick. Not the Russian.

>Sam x Mistral
Man. Now I want this.

Well then, how can I make love to it?

Yeah yeah I got fucked up
>mfw there's that pic with her and the replacement AI that I wanted to be Laughing Octopus
>it'll never be real

Why does Ray even a sword that big?

Why does Ray even an arm full of missiles?

I saw a comment on facebook under a post about the remastered Bioshock.

>I already had the story spoiled for me so what's the point of playing this now?

These fags need to get out of games and go do what they actually want to do, which is watch a movie.

Why does Ray even a PLASMA CUTTER?

Why does Ray even limb turrets?

The lyrics relate to every character's personality and motivation, and lend light to the reasons for their actions. Platinum managed to out-Kojima Kojima: they put exposition into the soundtrack.

More of this?

Actually all I have.
Saved them from a thread a long while ago, so there may be more.
