Too young to play this when it came out

HOL-EE SHIT. The feels. The lore. The gameplay. The music. The immersion. The pain of finishing it....

How the fuck can a console game from a 64bit console system still be the best game of all time? Seriously!?! What the fuck are game designers doing? Are they all retarded nowadays? Are old-school japs the only humans capable of creating the best games of all time?

You'll never get to experience it during childhood. That is your only fault.

Boring bullshit. Nostalgia fags love it even though link to the past is better

Pretty much.

HEY LISTEN!

Fuck off, Egoraptor.

>Nostalgia fags love it even though an older game I'm nostalgic about is better

>Too young to play this when it came out

I was about to yell underaged b& but then I remembered 1998 was 18 years ago and now I feel extremely old.

I can't state enough how monumental OoT felt to me when it came out. There are better games and even better Zelda games, but if I had to rank games based on my personal experience, it is undoubtedly the best game I ever played. That game changed my life.

>water temple

>1998 was 18 years ago

Fuck. I was like 6 at the time and I'm going on 25. I don't even feel old but man.

EH

skyward sword is the best zelda game

...

Right? the little fairy was sooo annoying XD
Also teh water temple was super hard for me lol :p
>mfw the water temple

Honestly, it wasn't that bad design-wise and Dark Link is one of the most hype minibosses to go into blind. It's just that iron boots management was tedious ans that one key in the center column can be skipped a little too easily.

Warmed my heart to hear that the Goron kid was named after me. Like it just hit me RIGHT in the feels.

But FUCK the Shadow Temple... that place is a motherfucker.

The water temple is the only one in OoT where you are actually given the freedom to go around as you please. The path through all the other dungeons is very straightforward.

>TFW beat the water temple faster than forest temple because I remembered about the key underneath the middle spikey rising column thingy when the water raises

>he didn't even 100% it
loser

It's overhated but nah. Some great dungeons and bosses, plus the whole of Lanayru Desert was cool.

Its not that hard, you just check the map and go places you haven't explored yet.

wind waker is the best zelda game

You only love it because you're a retro-active nostalgiafag and know you're supposed to love it, you don't really like it.

ALRIGHT FAGGOTS

Everyone gets fucked in the ass over the hidden key in the middle tower.

That's why everyone gets stuck.

I'd say this was shit-tier bait but I was legit triggered by this post.

To this day the Shadow Temple is my favorite Zelda dungeon.

you clearly watched his video faggot

this desu

The dungeon is actually fairly standard and has pretty fun design, but the tedium comes from backtracking across the entire temple over and over to find that one key, even if you have the compass it's difficult to know where to navigate because of the water levels

It's true though. Overstated but true.

Forest Temple

But its on the fucking map

Majoras Mask is better. Both original N64 versions aged poorly though, framerate is super crap and makes it almost unplayable on modern monitors/TVs.

>What the fuck are game designers doing? Are they all retarded nowadays?

They just have no incentive to put forth any real effort anymore, because """gaming""" is now a popular pastime and """"""""gamers"""""""" will buy anything as long as you hype it up with a pre-rendered trailer or use buzzwords like "open world" and "crafting".

When I was a kid I would stick around goron city for hours

I completely forgot
Did that guy really kill himself?

LTTP is better

I played OoT when i was probably about 10 years old. The game came out when i was 4. It instantly became one of my favorite games and i still love it to this day. OoT and LA are the only zelda games im down to replay whenever.

Which one?

Milo doesn't die. The chicken fucker becomes a Stalfos.

I get how good it was as a kid but cmon how can you have fun playing this shit that literally takes no brain power just like most nintendo games
The game is not challenging in any way I really don't understand how anyone can even take damage let alone die in a zelda game.

I'm replaying it right now via HD and it's a little better than I remember even aside from its improvements but the dungeons are still jank. Almost wanted to kill myself dredging through the Wind Temple's tedium earlier today. Sea exploration's good but with the Swift Sail the old way of sailing seems painfully archaic now, like it should've been this way from the start.

How old are you exactly? Are you legal? ;)

>LTTP

why do people keep spamming this meme game

It's a decent game that set the ground for how 3D adventure games should play. But it's horribly dated now

Water Temple is classic. Anyone that cant get through it needs to get good.

I've been singing the praises of Ocarina of Time since I was 8 years old. The game is like fine wine, I'm currently playing through it with my girlfriend

If you're triggered by someone calling one of the most critically acclaimed games ever the greatest game of all time you might just be autistic

>you will never try to sneak to the princess again for the first time
The nostalgia of this moment.

It's almost impossible for me to completely detach my feelings from a game that I grew up with. I don't think there's anything wrong with nostalgiafagging here and there.

I felt very dumb when I recently realized that the stage in smash 64 is based exactly on the OOT caste
I always thought it was just a layout they made up for smash

Well I guess it's about time I invested in Just For Men hair dye.

If you like Ocarina of Time, you should try Mystical Ninja and Soul Reaver.

The water temple was one of my favourite temples as a kid, and I loved Navi, I was fucking messed up at the end when she left. And 100% onboard with Link's quest in MM to go save her.

You can imagine my surprise when I got older and saw the internet's feelings on those two subjects.

On replay Navi really is quite annoying, but the water temple is still amazing. Second best after Desert Collosus.

It's perfect though *insert just right meme*

>Only had a difficult time with the Water Temple because I refused to look at the map.

Horribly dated is overstating it. Rudimentary perhaps, but the design is so sound across the board that it's a fine candidate for the argument that an actually good game is good forever.

I love the dungeon music in this game and it killed me inside when I found out it was largely taken from public domain music.

t. sandnigger

I agree but Majora's Mask doesn't capture the same magic that OOT did. It didn't feel like this grand adventure through a sprawling world, it felt more self contained (granted it was intentionally made that way). They're charming for different reasons.

Games are more than just difficulty user, now go back to your Dark Souls thread

I honestly never understood the whole "Navi is annoying" thing. I had it drilled into my head from a young age, every flash animation on Newgrounds turned it into some running joke, but I never had that experience.

No.
The dude who does the EH REH EH REH videos
He said he was going to kill himself in a couple of minutes after uploading a final video but I didn't stay to find out if he actually did it

I sure hope so .

>The game is not challenging in any way
Sounds like somebody hasn't played the second quest.

Not really
I never found Navi to be annoying or the water temple to be hard

It's mostly when you're doing sidequests or trying to just drown yourself in the majesty of the world. I think she'll remind you of your task something like every 16minutes.

It's a little annoying when you're trying to fish or something.

>tfw imagining EH REH as actual instruments
It...almost seems like it would be a fairly solid base melody. His only flaw was doing it acapella

>this fucking 9gag-tier meme

>le navi is annoying meme ecks dee
I liked how every now and then she would go "HO". It was cute.

I see. Since the world has sucked my spirit of adventure away and replaced it with apathy, I generally just rail through the main quest without touching the other stuff.

It literally hurts me thinking about this game. Not just because of the game but everything. The 90s are gone and will never be back. I remember we had a club in the woods and we called ourselves the Gerudos and we would make up fake bosses and pretend to fight. I remember exploring the world in the game and thinking the graphics were amazing and the world was huge. I remember before everything was so readily available on the internet and some dipshit at school would be like "if you play _____ in the field at night you get the tri-force" and you actually went and tried that shit instead of just taking your phone out of your pocket and Googling it.

God, getting old sucks. I was 10 when OoT came out. 1998-2001 or so was probably the best time of my life. Between OoT and playing Roller Coaster Tycoon for hours with my friend in his basement to kids actually acting like damn kids in those days...it really was a better time.

Story time. I was 5 when my dad got this game and it scared the shit out of me. I'm pretty sure I was traumatized by seeing a kid a little older than me get the piss beaten out of him by decaying monsters. I got over it when I beat the game a few years ago, but those ceiling hands still trigger me.

Probably my favorite game soundtrack ever.

I loved the dreary graphics and it still annoys me the 3DS version got all cutesy.

Wasn't hard, just tedious. But then again, I marathoned it in about 3 days so I was at my peak.

Why the hell is this game liked so much? The combat is simplistic and pretty terrible. The story is laughable at best. Zelda's stories suck. No exception. The puzzles I guess? Maybe I just wasn't lucky enough to play this shit as a kid so I have no nostalgia? I played the 3ds version and it bored me to tears.

When I was a toddler, I asked my brother to come downstairs and check for redeads in my closet before I went to sleep

Master Quest is easier than the original once you settle into its groove. The original has well thought-out obstacles while MQ oftentimes shoots for the most obtuse logic conceivable. After a while you see shit like a cow lodged in a wall for no good reason and think "Hmm, I'm probably supposed to do something with this terribly out of place cow". Plus, some of the dungeons are outright borked. For example, MQ Water Temple is relatively barren, if anything it's much easier than the original.

Atmosphere is something I think old nintendo had down to a science
Seems like they lost it somewhere along the way though

Favorite Dungeon... Probably Forest Temple because it always seems to trick me at least once. Also the fact you can make the skies above the courtyard turn to dusk if you enter at the right time.

Zora's Domain best theme, I sleep to it sometimes.

Sinking Lure, mother fuckers

Ganondorf/Ganon's battle is one of the most satisfying experiences in video game history IMO

So much comfy... I suppose Zora's Domain if I had to choose.

Probably the singing at night and the other rideable horses if I had to guess.

Forest Temple

hookshot

boring taste but that's to be expected from someone who still counts OoT in his top 10. changes nothing, it's a great game.

nostalgia is pretty harsh user, hell this game's subtext is all about nostalgia ie going 10 years into the future to meet a childhood friend that doesnt remember you until you play a song you both shared.

But try not to get too sucked up into it, you can never go back. It's straight up irrational to spend the rest of your life thinking you can.

you sound like a cute grill

Back in 1998 it was groundbreaking and pushed forth a number of mechanics and conventions that have since become industry standards. Having had nearly 2 decades to build upon its foundation, it's only logical that OoT feels a bit simple in this day and age. That people still talk about it though is a testament to how enduring it is on its own merits rather than merely coasting on its legacy.

OoT is literally the only good Zelda game ever created. It's the only one where every part of it fit together and came together in a good way with a simple but nice plot, memorable locations/characters/music and the gimmicky shit wasn't overwhelming with the ocarina feeling like another tool than a dumb gimmick.

When I was a kid I got so scared the first time that it got dark and a bunch of stalkids popped out of the ground
Later when I played Majora's Mask I turned the game off when the fight against the Majora's Mask started because everything about it creeped me out and then beat it later when I composed myself

Now we all have is totally-not-skyrim on cellshading+ blur, the game

Zelda was consistently great prior to Wind Waker, where the design started really showing hit and miss execution. Zelda from the mid 80s to early 00s was damn good.

>spiritual predecessor
jesus christ

The majora fight is legitimately creepy, it's design is really bizarre for a Zelda game. Actually everything about the last half of MM is creepy.

And most of Sup Forums will never experience teenage romance. Different circumstances for different people.
