When will this "One of the greatest games ever" meme end?
It really wasn't that great.
When will this "One of the greatest games ever" meme end?
It really wasn't that great.
It wasn't one of the greatest games ever.
It is the greatest one.
boring as hell
When the dick gobblers like you stop falling for the hourly bait thread.
...
It was better than:
>Dragon Age Inquisition
>Fallout 4
>Skyrim
>The Final Fantasy 13 games
>AssCreed(all of them)
>Diablo 3
It's a pretty damn goo game.
>B-But the combat
>Just roll and fast attack everything
>No oils or potions, because they're useless
Stop playing on the easiest difficulty, faggots.
>B-But downgraded graphics
Stop being a bitch. That happens to almost every game. They never actually look the way they do in E3 without mods.
If you can't name a better game then check my 3 and fuck off
enjoyed every minute of it. the DLC is still better than anything I've played this year
...
It was just as generic and bland as anything else on that list
"b-but muh gameplay" is a valid concern. Get the CDPR cock out of your face and you'd see just how bad it was.
It's an rpg, yet it offered no real build variety, little to no actual role playing options, and a shitty voiced protagonist that can only be the "gruffly voiced man of few words" character type. These are literally issues people found with fallout 4, yet they are blind to it in this game.
A huge part of the game is a "choose which waifu to fuck" storyarch, yeah, because I really care...
All the missions are literally go here, follow the trail with your Witcher sense, kill something. Yet, you complain about games like skyrim or gta for having repetitious quests? Hypocritical I think...
The game is vast, but it's so damn shallow.
Never complained about GTA or Skyrim being repetitious. Besides, every fucking game ever is repetitive.
As for role playing...deal with it. It's based on the character from the books. Oh well if you can't make your purple haired bi curious mage like in Bioware games. I'd rather have a well crafted character than some ugly shit I scrapped together with a shit character creator.
As for variety in combat, you have three different styles you can choose from.
>oh no, I can only use swords
Deal with it, faggot. Not every fucking western rpg has to be a carbon copy of a Bethesda or Bioware game.
It's a good modern action RPG. That's enough for it to be one of the best games in recent memory in my opinion.
You are probably some loser in real life who archived nothing and want to show your superiority by bashing The Witcher 3.
You talk like a loser, so stfu.
I was speaking generally as a lot of people who bash other games never see the faults in this one.
Don't need to make a bi curious, purple haired tranny, but a game that allows me to be an elf assassin, or a dwarf archer, or a mage, or a cleric, etc etc is a lot more fun.
>well constructed character
He's as boring as the fucking franchise he's apart of... gravelly monotonous voice? Check. Short sentences? Check. Typical "you won't like me when I'm upset" attitude? Check. It's been done a million times.
Plus, the game literally shoves so much lore down your throat with the dialogue... "a botchling needs to turn into a hobgoblin, a hobgoblin is blah blah blah, botchlings come from blah blah blah. You need to do this this and that blah blah."
I get it, you're a monster hunter, but real diologue doesn't sound like that...
Not the guy you replied to but
>Plus, the game literally shoves so much lore down your throat with the dialogue
Half the time that's Geralt thinking to himself and the other half it's him explaining monsters to retarded peasants
>Don't need to make a bi curious, purple haired tranny, but a game that allows me to be an elf assassin, or a dwarf archer, or a mage, or a cleric, etc etc is a lot more fun.
Not every game needs to be DnD. There's plenty of RPGs that do that already. This is story driven, it's about Geralt. Sure you like those other games better (which is fine, there's a lot of really amazing games like that pout there) but personally I really like the Witcher.
I get where you're coming from with the complaints about Geralt though, I think he's cool but I don't expect everyone to.
Not him, but, have you never played an RPG where you don't have a character creator? Have you never played a JRPG with set characters that join your party? Or have you only been playing your usual games where you have a character creator with a silent protagonist or a "Commander Shepherd" character?
Name 100 games that are better.
I never played any of these games, but I saw a clip where some dwarf utters the phrase "lesbomancy" and I decided it was the not the franchise for me.
Your loss, bruv.
Did anyone else end up actually liking Philippa in TW3? I was indifferent about her in TW2, but for some reason I sympathized with her in this game. Maybe it's because Rad became mad.
user in a pile of shit games your bound to find a least shit one. Thats what this game is plus normies have shit taste.
Why are Gothic 2 and 3 never talked about... those seem like the best RPGs ever made from all the research I've done.
what wasn't good about it? best of the 3 games.
Yes I have, but I typically find them less engaging and fun than ones where you make your charscter, but I do know each has its pros and cons
Blank characters often allow for more in depth role playing and character building, and allow you to immerse yourself a little more. However, your interactions with the world are severely impacted because the devs needed to allow a blank and ambiguous slate of a character run around free
Games where you play as specific characters are a lot more story driven and my character can act seamlessly with others, but I find myself forced to play a certain way in order to better fit my characters shoes, and even sometimes they even offer little to no opportunities to play a different way because it'll conflict with the story. Plus, poorly written characters ruin the experience of the entire game.
All on all I prefer rpgs where you make your character.
you are so wrong. In games where you can make your own character however you want. The characters in the world go out of their way to simply react to you as a random douche male/female. Dragon age origins did a bit of a god job with bringing up ur race every now and then, but it never mattered overall. Witcher 3 focused on the story of Geralt of Riverrrrerya, not some fill in the blank protag. Pull ur meta immersive head out of ur ass and read a book for once.
and thats the end of all that bullshittery. goodbye thread, have fun dying
What's with this immersion meme in video games. Are faggots really trying to get "lost" in the world of the video game they're playing?
Sounds like nu-male shit.
What I meant was a conversations and actions can be much more scripted and rooted in the lore with rpgs involving a main character.
In rpgs with character creation, I have yet to find one that is able to do this effectively
>It really wasn't that great.
Yes it was.
have you ever finished a book all the way through, watched a movie to its completion? Immersion is a fantasic way to draw people into something. its not a meme u donk, its call decent world building.
I think its great.
I could care less about defending this game. It's most probably my favorite game I've ever played and I don't believe it requires any defense. That said, what games do you count as better/among the greatest? I want to play them if I haven't already.
someone played on easy mode. All your complaints come from playin the game on the easier setting and saying the voice acting is bad is just really bad judgement
It was pretty damn good. It and Bloodborne were the only two games that didn't disappoint me last year. I also needed to wash the shit of DAI off my soul after I pirated it.
dude, not OP. but play FFX, Oblivion, The last of Us, Metal gear revengance for shits and gigs, beyond that ur on ur own. there havent been any good games to come out in a while.
Youre right it was phenomenal. I didn't know a setting could be that good. Did you play it?
I've just started the GOTY edition. Apart from shonky movement sometimes the game is pretty fucking perfect mate.
I don't think a single game has as much detail and work ethic put into it than The Witcher 3. It is truly the only AAA RPG with as much content as the old text-heavy 2D RPGs and I really want CD Projekt to continue succeeding to continue to prove that hard work pays off. Still, there's really nothing special at all in it's gameplay or mechanics to set it apart from all other games. Bloodbourne truly was the best game of 2015, however CD Projekt was certainly the best developer of 2015.
I'm on my first playtrough right now it's lovely.
Sure I have issues with it ,but it's definetly one of the better games I've played recently.
I don't know what you can compare it too, but I like it more than BamHam, Assassins Creed games, Mass Effect games, Dragon Age Games.
Better than every western game released in the past three or four years besides Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne.
Prove me wrong
Thanks. I haven't played any Final Fantasy except a little of the original, and I haven't played any Metal Gear, though it's been on my list for ever. Oblivion is great, and The Last of Us was just okay to me. Neither come close to TW3 imo though.
Other favorites for me include Morrowind, Shadow of the Colossus, the KotORs, and others...
GTA IV, Witcher 3 and RDR are the best open world games.
We can all agree that the game is comfy to play right?
>Riding down the country side
>God tier OST
>Beautiful graphics even on the consoles
I feel like Sword and Story is the most comfy difficulty
>FFX, Oblivion
Or
>the shit I played when I was 12
When Oblivion was out everyone was trashing it and saying how morrowind was better.
Now it's the same for Skyrim
People who grew up with Skyrim will shitpost how it's better than next ES game
Don't forget GWENT!
Like an idiot I completely neglected it on my first two playthroughs. My third playthrough pretty much revolved around it though.
Not him, and for the record my favorite Elder Scrolls is Morrowind by a long shot -- despite Oblivion being my first when I was ~14. But don't be so quick to judge. They all have their pros and cons and everyone can make their own decisions about them without your personal theories of why people like what they do. Of course, you may be right, but you come across as a goddamn moron when you say that sort of shit out loud.
It was honestly shit. One of the most boring games I've ever played and an absolutely casualized joke of an RPG. Good graphics and soundtrack though.
not him but
>People who grew up with Skyrim will shitpost how it's better than next ES game
That's pretty much half its fanbase at this point and probably gonna be 2/3 after the remaster drops. Sup Forums will somehow get worse by the time ESVI comes out
I'm usually not a contrarian fag like most Sup Forums but the game got real old real quick, idk never got super far but combat was lame but all the lore and fight prep was cool. I'm very surprised I can't get into it
Personally haven't gotten into Gwent. I always hear praise for it but I'm too invested in the stories of the sidequests.
How does gwent even work? They never give you a tutorial.
>no build variety
this is how i know you played on easy
Witcher 2 blows it the fuck out of the water, Witcher 1 is even better
There's a scholar in the first tavern you visit who teaches you Gwent.
If it's your first playthrough then don't worry about it if you're not feeling it. There's plenty of time to pick it up later. But just make sure that you do eventually.
Yeah that's one of the reasons I never got into it at first. It's fairly simple though, even if you've never played a similar card game before -- like me. I actually just figured it out on my own. Took less than an hour before I had pretty much mastered it, but I got a nice sense of accomplishment for figuring it out anyway. It's basically a numbers game -- get the highest score on two of the three rounds and you win.
Probably when the "media can be objectively agreed upon" meme ends.
I'll give it a shot after my first playthrough. I haven't even gotten to the first dlc but i feel like it's too late.
