Does Sup Forums approve? I've fucked around with home built systems in the past and I'm just saying fuck it and shelling out. If the mobile 10 series is truly closing the gap between pc and notebook gaming, maybe I'm not fucking up so hard by buying a lame ass gaming laptop?
it'll suffice. mobile cards are never as good as their desktop counter-parts, but still pretty good. you just have to be a lot more careful of heat, so use a pad. i'd still go desktop/netbook route but don't let Sup Forums make you regret it, it's fine

Looks like what I have. It's good but can get hot if you push the graphics too much.

You fucked up hard. Do you know how beastly of a rig you could come up with for 1800?
That said, if you want to waste your money and don't give a damn, I'm sure it will perform its job adequately.

building a pc is easy, dont waste your money

>mobile cards are never as good as their desktop counter-parts the mobile 1080 is identical to the desktop 1080
not the 1070 though, bad luck OP
Charles Stewart
A rig is not an option. I don't have the space in my apartment and travel often. I've done it before and sure it's supremely cost effective. Unless what I've read is bullshit, the mobile 1070 comes close in performance to its counterpart

The problem isnt the GPU, its the heat it generates which causes it to slow down to compensate. I've got a 870M in my lappy and she can run shit at 60FPS for the first 30 mins before she starts slowing the processor down to prevent heat damage.

Msi or asus?

Acer, the build is super slim and sleek, which I prefer since >gaudy gamer shit But its heating is a downside

This is accessed from the bottom of the laptop? If the prebuilt can keep me running new games for the next two years, I'll be happy.

Get a cooling pqd under it and its 10/10?@, dont let these retards who cant understand thst desktop is not always the best option and just spout their autism constantly
Robert Martinez
i see no reason why a 1070 (even mobile version) wouldn't last you 2 years at decent resolution/frame rate. but like everyone says, keep it cool or it'll slow down so it doesn't kill itself
Jaxson James
Newfag here, is r/PCMR's crusher build any good? I've been meaning to build one for years but I can only get so much with neetbux.

The thing that surprised me was hearing that the mobile 1070 had more cuda cores than the desktop version.

My experience with MSI laptops is horrible.
>bought a MSI GT683DXR around 4 years ago >original GTX570M GPU burned down after two years of non-intensive gaming >can't replace a GTX570M in my country, was considering of getting a replacement from fuck knows where and there was no guarantee of it being in good condition >decided to replace the GTX570M with a GTX675M, since it was actually cheaper and fully compatible >new GTX675M overheats and makes the laptop shut down and restart when playing GPU intensive games even with a cooling pad and that "turbo fan" mode on the MSI laptops >too scared to play shit on it at all, so I just use it for work
Gaming laptops are a meme, don't fall for it. The heat management is a nightmare.
