Live in Korea for 10 years

>live in Korea for 10 years

>their job likely pays scraps

They're screwed long term right?

i think tasteless at least understands korean? Yesterday it looked like he was translating the interview to SoS?

What time on sunday are the ASL finals?

We will simply revive Broodwar as it is still the best RTS ever made

There's someone in his ear piece translating for him.

They have an audience that knows them. When Starcraft dies whoever is aiming to take the starcraft audience will probably try to take these goons too.

motherfuker, he is totally useless then

...

It's mind blowing he can live in that place so long and not learn Korean. You'd think he'd hire some tutors.

I know a decent amount of Koreans know English, but it's still only a tiny slice of the population. Does he just associate with them and other Americans?

How do you live in a country for 10 years without learning the main language? I only know one language myself, but English is the primary language of the US. If I moved to Finland, for example, I'd be definitely trying to learn Finnish.

probably just stays closed in his apartment smoking pot and jacking off when not casting

>How do you live in a country for 10 years without learning the main language?

Probably because he doesn't need to, and they're isolated from the main Korean population. Everyone in their circle likely knows English.

so basically he's the korean equivalent of US hispanics
gotcha

How much do you think their job pays? Do you think they do anything else?

Yes.

not sure how they do after gom closed, but they look better now... i guess gom really really paid them little, but they get good money when they travel and cast abroad, they said one weekend event was paid about 2500 euros

I've stayed in Japan for 2 years (still here) and can't speak or write.

Its surprisingly easy to get by just pointing and having your qt gf do everything else

How do I open port 6112?

why is Sup Forums suddenly filled with retarded shitpost threads like this

>but they get good money when they travel and cast abroad, they said one weekend event was paid about 2500 euros

sadly outside from blizzcon, they only manage to find work at dreamhack once this year. i hope they have a fallback job.

Quiet tasteless.

Their passion for starcraft is what makes them who they are and it's taken them this far but at some point they really should have broken off and gone on to cast other games. SC2 is a dead game and it's just not going anywhere now.

www.portforward.com/cports.htm

>SC2 is a dead game and it's just not going anywhere now.

is that why they get 15,000 viewers per stream?

Most are animefags who don't even watch the game and shitpost in /sc2g/

Is that considered a lot? How much money do they make per viewer? I can't imagine they could make a profit like that.

BW only got 7,800 max last stream. Nice for an old game, but can it really get any higher?

I just hope it's enough to convince afreeca to keep doing these starleagues. It doesn't have to be the biggest game ever, I just want it to survive. Though it's kind of sad to see that starcraft doesn't even match the viewership of stuff like smash bros anymore.

>15000
A LoL streamer gets more than that on a bad day.

Apparently you can get by in Korea just by learning Hangul (literally takes an afternoon to learn).

>I can't imagine they could make a profit like that.

Pretty sure the English casting section doesn't generate profit directly. They're losing money on it. But it is good long term isnce it generates interest outside of Korea.

No, they are unofficial Blizzard shills; they'll just move on to the next Blizzard game. If Korea starts broadcasting Overwatch, they'll be casting it.

So in other words, they aren't screwed unless Blizzard goes under.

They do commentary for other games. When sc dies they will jump ship

Da fuck are you talking about?

Both of them can clearly speak Korean, have demonstrated it many times without the headset on

You could say that about any commentating job. You put skills on your resume like "Analytical" and "Entertainer" and "independently set myself up as a brand in a completely foreign environment." "Was on the English forefront to Korean entertainment for 10 years".

I grant you they're not walking into Wall Street anytime soon but it's better than those waste of space Twitch streamers who will have no money left when the bubble bursts in 5-10 years time.

>Da fuck are you talking about?
>Both of them can clearly speak Korean, have demonstrated it many times without the headset on

Sup Forums is full of retarded underage people, what did you expect?

15000 viewers per stream isnt that much, and they used to get 20-25k per stream just a year or two ago.

Also they dont get even get 15k per stream anymore and havent since april, pic related.
No. 35 stream with 35k peak is Code S finals.

Site used for viewership numbers is fuzic.nl

Are there any numbers for ASL?

>I grant you they're not walking into Wall Street anytime soon but it's better than those waste of space Twitch streamers who will have no money left when the bubble bursts in 5-10 years time.

Most e-celebs are morons who think making more money = they should spend more. If they make 200,000 a year, that means they should spend 200,000 a year.

>>live in Korea for 10 years
>>don't learn Korean
this is so disgusting. If you live in a country for a long time learn its language. That counts for rapefugees and for tasteless.

>If I moved to Finland, for example, I'd be definitely trying to learn Finnish.
American education everyone. Finland actually uses a lot of swedish.

That being said, there is decent viewership for smaller tournaments with pro players, and there is always GSL, Starleague (live right now), or proleague to watch.

Yeah and if I moved to france or germany I'd definitely learn arabic or turkish

Are you retarded? While there's swedish courses in school nobody fucking cares unless they're going to sweden for work

>Both of them can clearly speak Korean, have demonstrated it many times without the headset on

They always have ear pieces when they translate.

Many companies in Asia hire white people to do absolutely nothing and require almost no credentials. It's just a hip thing to have a white guy in the office as a pr pet.
I'm sure tastosis are fine especially since they are minor celebrities. Someone will hire them to hang around and maybe make coffee.

Only about 5% of the population speak Swedish you dumb fuck.
Swedish isn't like Finnish at all either.
Norwegian, Danish and Swedish are very similar. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

fuzic.nl is SC2 only but u can use this for all streams by looking through their broadcasts for brood war streams:
twinge.tv/gsl/streams/

Sometimes you will see a starcraft 2 or broodwar stream with only 2-3 thousand viewers, but under 'games played' you will probably see that the stream was only an hour long or so, and was just a pre show stream or something, and not actual matches.

>live in Korea for 10 years
>don't learn Korean
So he lives in his own isolated bubble for 10 fucking years like some wetback?

The fuck am I reading

>tfw you grew up out of Korea Time and can never go back to being a fucked up NEET watching Gom shit streams of Boxer and Jaedong

eh...not really true. kinda true in western finland.

you gotta learn finnish.

They can speak basic Korean (at least enough to order drinks), and they are friends with many who do speak Korean anyway. Pretty sure Artosis's wife is a teacher over there.

five star post

>boxer
you mean flash?

Tasteless has near perfect Korean though. He translates things all the time.

youtube.com/watch?v=icHgKNHymr0

Pot is legal in south korea ? I know it is in north

What the fuck is that ?
