How many cups of hot water will it take to thaw out this block of ice?

>how many cups of hot water will it take to thaw out this block of ice?
>lol it's zero since you can just use a fire
What the fuck Layton?

Was there a fire in the puzzle's background picture? Also, even without a fire, you can wait for the ice to melt, provided room temperature is above 0 degrees c.

Layton did nothing wrong

You just can't think out of the box m8

The answer is more obvious than you might think.

>you don't need pi or any complex calculations for this one
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT HERSHEL

>Was there a fire in the puzzle's background picture?
Yes.

Well then, you shouldn't be too surprised. Layton's games are known for this sort of tomfoolery -- see layton.wikia.com/wiki/Puzzle:PU!

Think a little harder! Try looking at it in a way you haven't before!

LOL

...

it's the one on his mustache

Some stupid shit involving the thimbles/pots in the corner

...

It's his nose

In before Slylock Fox user.

Literally impossible to figure out.

I fucking love slylock and wish I hadnt lost my folder

>two of these four completely different looking dolls are the same
>which are they

>there's an answer because they're mirrored horizontally so two are the same just that one is turned 180 degrees
>in the picture a skirt covers almost the entire lower half

I don't think there's been as many that was as straight up bullshit as that one.

REEEEEEEEEE

C because they're "reversible" dolls
whatashit

Shylock was my guilty pleasure despite so many of the answers coming from things that weren't even mentioned in the problems. Mindtrap was also notorious for out of left field "solutions"

What the fuck is this?

look at your keyboard

...

You pretty much flip it inside out and look at the visual cues to figure out which one makes sense i.e. the bottom of the dress and the hands and feet

Still took me a while to figure out

F?

This thinking out of the box shit only works in real life. In vidyia, one puzzle might require you to do this but if you try thinking out of the bix anywhere else you're fucked because it wasn't coded in and thus won't work
So yeah fuck this bullshit

I'm still so fuckibg pissed

...

How the fuck? How would anyone work this out?

It's the DS itself

The hint for that puzzle being "texting thumb" was problematic.
At the time, texting was more associated with numpads than with qwerty keyboards.

>Mediocre plot
>Shit puzzles
>One-dimensional characters
>Full on retarded twists
Why do people even like this series?

Just how many kids does this fucker have?

None, because ice thaws out if you just leave it at room temperature. The rate at which thaws is proportional to the difference in temperature to the environment.

Yeah, okay, I'm looking at it. Now what?

Only one.

>that forehead
why must they do this

>You have at your disposal a large number of tiles like the one shown below.

>If you were to take these tiles and try to make a square, what is the fewest number of tiles you'd need?

I honestly believe the answer to this one is stupid and could be much simpler, they force an interpretation that isn't needed.

I'll post my proposed and better answer if nobody can replicate it.

What about the other one, the one with mental issues.

30 tiles.

>gif
>its not actually a gif, its just a renamed jpeg

Why do human beings do such a thing to other humans? Just to suffer?

Why not just cut it?

30 or 20 if you use the 0.5inch

This.

It is one and they want you to cut it at the end?

The problem is to make a square with the tiles, not by modifying them.

20 is the correct answer however I believe there is a simpler one.

In the Layton world, you are cruisin for a bruisin

One. Say it's 11x11 and shoot anybody who questions it.

Her?

She wasn't his daughter though?

A cube is a square

Here's my proposed simpler solution for using those tiles to make a square, two in fact.

Spoilers, but not the "Layton approved" answer :^)

3.

30. LCM of 10 and 12 is 60, and a 60inĂ—60in square requires a 5x6 arrangement of tiles.

It's gonna involve that 0.5, isn't it?

I'll never understand why that box looks like it's wearing panties.

I should also mention those are accurately sized, 10x12 pixels magnified.

Never mind, using the 0.5 and 10 inch sides I get 20 tiles by similar reasoning. fug

Its not a square if one side is longer by 2 inches.

Think 3D. You'll use less tiles if you stack them on top of each other

Yeah, thanks. I got it, see

...

Alright, no cheating: find the shaded area.

>20/20 picarats
>Which stone should the farmer push to bring down all of the other stones?
>That's right! The barely pushable giant stone on the right that isn't even that recognizable
Fuck this game.

Posting the FUCKING PROBLEM HELPS

Well now you've got the grain going fucking everywhere

...

>Don't bother thinking about Pi. You don't need it to solve this one!
>If you draw straight lines between the four center points of each of the flower beds, in makes a square!
>From the points where two flower beds tough, draw two diagonal lines that cut through the center of the diagram and end where two other flower beds touch.
>These two lines should divide that middle space between all four flower beds into four neat sections. What can you learn from those four sections?

No, the best riddles are the ones where you must first work out the question, and then find the answer.

Kek

"Find the shaded area" is the problem. It's shaded red

No I think found the Layton approved answer

~86 units^2

I believe in you Sup Forums

No, I'm afraid not. Your answer is much too small

>1 + 1 = ?
> [Input 2]
>WRONG MOTHER FUCKER, 1 + 1 = WINDOW

JUST

A

B is shit barber because he did that job to A

A, surely.

Wrong, it's C hiding off screen

You could make a square with only 5 tiles but 4 of them would be vertical and one horizontal

A

A. because they didn't cut their own hair.

400, fuck.
I forgot the circle is shaded.

B, obviously. Any normal person would go for fucking B, no one wants to get a hair cut by the guy that looks like the fucking Cynthia doll from Rugrats.

Correctamundo. Vey nice work.

But he's the better barber.

oy

Why does A look so smug?

>Answer is 20 if you use the 0.5 to make an entire fucking cube
>Answer can't be 5 for filling the space from 10 to 12 inched with 0.5 tiles because fuck you

You to A, because he's clearly dying of cancer. He's had chemo and that's why he's losing his hair. You should of obviously been able to see this and you're just pretending not to know if you choose B. You're acting maliciously and ignoring the plight of a man in need.

This fucking puzzle.

>hurr durr i can cut my own hair

Everu fucking thread with this bullshit

That was fucking cool. More garden puzzles.

Jesus Christ, I can't stop laughing.

Kek, I fucked up

Get the fat fucking princess out unnoticed.

Fuck I remember that bullshit puzzle. Fuck those trick question puzzles.

Easy, it's the area of the square you make by connecting the 4 centers of the circles

400 feet.
Circle is Pi*10^2.
The center can be viewed as a diamond or more specifically if you put a circle directly on 0 on a unit graph, four corners would make up the diamond shown there. So you take [10^2 - ((pi*10^2)/4)] and there are four corners so * 4.

Here's a unit graph of a circle, the parts outside the circle but still inside the square.
We know it's unit length because circle stretches to the center of two circles if you slant your head at 45 degrees, so half of it is exactly the radius length.
