Well, Doom 1 was super repetitive and yet it was interesting. I don't mind repetitive gameplay if shooting is fun.

Buy the game from a CD-key site that sells it for cheap and forget about the DLC. like said the single-player is well worth $20 or even more (I bought it for 45 yurops at launch, no regrets)

The biggest problem is it's all arena fights.
You very rarely fight enemies throughout the level. There are very blatant "exploration" sections and "shootey shootey" sections with not much variance or meshing of the two.
Most of the guns are amazing cept for a couple forgettable few chaingun. Everything else is great.
