I'm looking for Sup Forums's opinions on this game. I know, I know.. early access shit blah blah.. I'm kinda prepared for that, should I get it.

But have any anons already picked it up? I don't see much discussion about it at all, despite it being one of the only things that was fairly well received here during E3. I know it doesn't seem to have much going for it right now, but I'm interested in how much it does have.

Very interesting world that quickly turns into generic open-world survival #239658 once you get out of the opening cutscene

it's generic and isn't making progress buy subnautica if you want an open world survival thingie.

I played it quite a bit some time and see the potential if they make enough questlines for it.

I don't know if it's survival per-say. There's thirst and hunger but they don't drain nearly as much as they used to. Scavenging and quests are more along the lines of fallout than a typical survivor too.

All that said, don't buy it now unless you want a short gameplay alpha and a minor discount. They're holding off the story elements till the final release.

It was supposed to be a more linear game in development, but that changed to be "open world". The world is dead though and there's nothing in a very large portion of the early game. It's just very bland running around dilapidated apartment blocs looking for materials to craft shit.

More recently they've changed it to be less survival oriented, which is nice because you're not scrounging immediately from the start to not starve or whatever, but the fact remains that the core philosophy of the game did a 180 and the game itself wasn't created with that in mind, it doesn't work, and it never will work. This is one of those games I see never actually releasing, or just suddenly dropping as "released" with no major update one day out of the blue so they can get the xbox version out to get their money.

Cuck

>But have any anons already picked it up?
>early access shit

Oh I should mention, put on the developer console and put like 80 joy in your inventory, keep popping them and go nuts. It's infinitely more enjoyable that way. It's like playing a stealth game where you have to act like an NPC. It's fucking incredible.

game is a flop and the creators knew it so they made a bio-shock esque opening cutscene/area to hype the game

its another "lie to the consumer base" game.

>I hate a thing because Sup Forums told me to

Don't be a downer, Sup Forums

This. I ended up refunding when I realized I had encountered this same game a million times before

This is the opinion I was looking for.

Acting like an NPC triggers my autism. Can I go all out with it, and is there any amount of depth to acting like an NPC?

It's been an open world survival game from the start, mate. That was their pitch with the kickstarter.

never, NEVER buy early access stuff, I'm saying this as a person, not as Sup Forums

>I know, I know.. early access shit blah blah.. I'm kinda prepared for that, should I get it
My opinion is fuck you, you fucking faggot cunt. It was assholes like you that caused my PC FPS to suddenly drop server lists for matchmaking and it's you specifically that's causing shitbag devs to release absolute garbage like it's okay if it's fixed in half a year. I hope this game triggers a lethal seizure and your mom has to find your body.

oi, who let a downer in 'ere?

Well more thoughtful people would take these things case-by-case instead of generalising and blaming the bad elements. You can't show me a business model in the world that hasn't flopped at least once.

It's a pretty simple deal to understand. You pay for a game early in exchange for a discount and get to play the alpha/beta builds. Of course there's a risk something will happen to development but that's a reality in all games. If you don't want the risk or the pre-release builds, just don't buy it until it's finished. It's not hard to do.

As for the whole "Early Access encourages laziness" thing. Bullshit. The lengthy development is there for all games, the only difference is Early Access isn't putting it behind closed doors.

You really want to know if an INDIE EARLY ACCESS game consisting of
>survival
>"generated maps"
>crafting
>open world
is worth it? You know these games don't end up well.

Early Access are almost always unplayable while also having the added risk of remaining in that state forever, it's better to go play actual finished games than wasting time on that crap.

Oh my, such a great deal to have the opportunity to pay some asshole to alpha/beta test his game for him. I even get a discount on a game that may never be worth shitting on, much less paying the EA price.

Fuck you. Just pirate the damn game you fucking retard.

I pirated it. Seems great, as long as it actually gets finished.

Don't buy it until it's finished then.

Wow, world crisis solved.

>Playing a fraudsters game

Fucking idiot

>You can't show me a business model in the world that hasn't flopped at least once.
There is the fact that Early Access has failed way more than once, it has failed almost every single time

>it has failed almost every single time
You're just quoting Sup Forums memes again.

I don't need to change a god damned thing to solve this problem. This isn't about the business model. This is about assholes like you speaking loudly with your wallets and telling game devs and publishers to keep fucking us. Take your own fucking advice.

Give me examples of early access games that were actually finished and didn't suck then

7 days to die is pretty fucking good
And honestly this game looks pretty good too

It's alright but nothing worth over five dollars

That's just the big names though.

People are free to spend their money how they like. If they get burned by it, it's a lesson for them. Stop being one of those "Why is this allowed" faggots.

You may be free to keep doing shit that makes my products worse but stop acting like you're not being a faggot for doing it.

It doesn't change a thing. If a dev is fucking around, it means you chose poorly.

Great example of why one should not support EA trash.

Did you guys hear the news?!

Apparently procedurally generated entertainment is fucking boring! Wow~!

Yeah, it's a pretty plain grid at the moment because they're working on making the quests work. One where a ghost leads you to a grave can bug out if the grave tile is spawned too far away, for example.

Devs confirmed inclines and irregular roads are on the list when it's ready though. I hope they add something to the edges of the islands, so they're not just grassy slopes into the sea.

it feels so cheap when you play it

Is this what Sean Murray actually meant?

>WHAT IS GOING ON
>too many of you are playing right now despite the genre and my game specifically being shit
>that has blown my mind

You do realise it only effects the placement of the quests areas, right? You'd still have hand designed levels inside the actual buildings.

Another cuck game made by liberal idealists.

wat? that doesn't even make sense, the society in We Happy Few is a communist type of a society
